Sonam offered Rs 20L for murder, helped push body into gorge: Sources
Lucknow: A day after the murder of Indore tourist Raja Raghuvanshi took a dramatic turn with the arrest of his wife Sonam Raghwanshi and the exposure of a murder-for-hire plot, it has come to the fore that Sonam offered Rs 4 lakh for her husband's murder and then raised the amount to Rs 20 lakh. Shillong police sources suggested that the plan of a one-way ticket to Meghalaya was Sonam's plan. Even though her boyfriend did not travel to Meghalaya, he did the planning behind the scenes and was in touch with Sonam, the reports added.
According to top police sources, Sonam had also helped the other accused in pushing Raghuvanshi's body into a gorge in Meghalaya.
Raja Raghuvanshi's body was found in a gorge near a waterfall in Sohra area (also known as Cherrapunji) of East Khasi Hills district on June 2, days after he reached Meghalaya with his wife Sonam for their honeymoon.
Sonam had allegedly hired killers to get rid of her husband as she reportedly wanted to be with her lover. As per sources, Sonam Raghuvanshi planned the murder with her alleged lover Raj Kushwaha just a few days after her May 11 wedding in Indore.
The accused first followed the newlyweds to Guwahati on May 21 where they stayed close to their hotel and then to Shillong on May 22. They killed Raja the next day, the sources said.
On May 23, Sonam and Raja Raghuvanshi went on a trek to a steep peak to see a waterfall, with the hitmen following their trail.
At one point, Sonam pretended to be tired and started walking much behind her husband and the killers, the sources said.
When they reached a deserted place, Sonam allegedly asked the men to kill her husband.
The killers, however, refused to kill him, saying they were tired, as per the sources. Sonam Raghuvanshi then allegedly raised her offer to 20 lakh, they said.
According to sources, Sonam also helped the accused in throwing Raja's body into the ditch. As per the preliminary autopsy report, Raja Raghuvanshi was hit twice, once each on the back and front of his head.
The Meghalaya Police knew on June 3, a day after they found the body of Raja Raghuvanshi in the gorge, that his wife was involved in the murder.
The Meghalaya Police has claimed that all those involved in the conspiracy to kill the man from Indore - including Raj Kushwaha, Vishal Chauhan and Akash Rajput and Anand Kurmi - have been arrested in the operation that they codenamed 'Operation Honeymoon'.

The woman used an axe to kill her husband while he slept following a heated argument over the latter's insistence on consummating their marriage 15 days after the wedding. Police arrested her on Wednesday and produced her before a magistrate, who remanded her to two days' police custody. A case has been registered against her under Section 103 (1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which pertains to murder. Police sources indicate that ongoing family discord may have led to the crime, though further investigations are underway to determine the precise motive. This shocking incident comes close on the heels of the sensational murder of Indore-based Raja Raghuvanshi during his honeymoon in Meghalaya. Raja and his wife, Sonam Raghuvanshi, were married on May 11 and had left for their honeymoon on May 20. Merely three days into the trip, both went missing. The case, which initially began as a missing person report, took a sinister turn when Raja's body was discovered in a deep gorge in Meghalaya on June 2. His autopsy revealed two severe head injuries -- one at the back and another on the front -- confirming a brutal murder. Further investigation uncovered a premeditated plot allegedly orchestrated by Sonam, her lover Raj Kushwaha, and three of his friends -- Akash Rajput, Anand Kurmi, and Vishal Singh Chauhan. On June 7, Sonam surrendered in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh. All five accused, including Sonam and Raj, confessed to the crime and have been remanded to eight days of police custody.

Noida Tech Firm Founder Refused Interim Bail In Rs 3,558 Crore Scam
New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Thursday refused to grant interim bail on medical grounds to the founder of a Noida tech firm, Arif Nisar, who is a key accused in a money laundering case linked to Vuenow Marketing Services over rotating money between old and new investors in the guise of sub-leasing cloud particles. Counsel appearing for Nisar told the bench of Justice PK Mishra and Justice Manmohan that he needs an injection and a surgery to save the eyesight of his right eye. However, the top court noted that there were no such recommendations by the doctors on the need for his hospitalisation. At this point, Nisar asked for a fresh examination by doctors, but the court refused his request. The top court granted him the liberty to approach the high court if the doctor recommended hospitalisation. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) arrested Nisar, a key figure in Vuenow Marketing Services Ltd, as part of a money laundering investigation linked to the company and its associated entities. The probe agency in its investigation said that Zebyte Infotech Private Limited (ZIPL) and Zebyte Rental Planet Private Limited, affiliates of Vuenow Group, were rotating the money of new investors to the old ones in the guise of sub-lease rent of cloud particles. As such, no rental income was generated from any clients who purported to have taken cloud particles on rent, the Enforcement Directorate said. According to the Enforcement Directorate, Nisar, who holds 75 per cent shareholding in ZIPL, is a mentor and founder of VMSL group and a close associate of Sukhvinder Singh Kharour. Kahrour is said to be the mastermind behind this alleged scam. The ED had also arrested Vuenow Group chief executive officer Sukhvinder Singh Kharour and his wife Dimple Kharour, who are allegedly involved in cheating people on the pretext of selling to them "cloud particles (servers)" and leasing them back on the assurance of providing monthly rental income to the investors. The probe agency said that funds to the tune of Rs 3,558 crore were raised through the alleged scam. What is the scam The case stems from an allegation that promoters and directors of these firms were running a scheme in which they lured people into investing in cloud particles or servers, for which they offered guaranteed rental returns of 48 percent per annum. They allegedly told the investors they would rent out these cloud particles to clients, and the rental income would go to them. But, it is alleged by the probe agency that there were no clients. Instead, new investors were brought in to pay the old investors, using the bank accounts of sister firms Zebyte Rental Planet Pvt Ltd (ZRPPL) and Zebyte Infotech Pvt Ltd (ZIPL).

Honeymoon murder: Meghalaya govt felicitates tourist guide, 35 others for assisting police in probe
The Meghalaya government on Thursday felicitated a tourist guide and 35 others for helping the state police trace the body of Raja Raghuvanshi , who was allegedly killed by his wife Sonam and her four aides during their honeymoon in the state, and in the investigation process. State minister Paul Lyngdoh distributed cash rewards of Rs 5.4 lakh to travel guide Albert Pde and 35 others, including several mountaineers, and tour facilitators, for actively assisting the police in search operations during a preliminary investigation into the case. Raghuvanshi and his wife went missing while vacationing in Sohra area in Meghalaya's East Khasi Hills district on May 23.
