Luxury flat once owned by Chinese actress Vicki Zhao and her ex-husband goes unsold despite 32% discount
HONG KONG: A fancy two-story apartment that used to belong to Chinese actress Vicky Zhao and her ex-husband Huang Youlong did not get a single offer at an auction, even though its price was knocked down by a 32% discount, a report by VNExpress said.
South China Morning Post has also reported that whoever owns that apartment now tried to sell it on Wednesday at an auction by AA Property Auctioneers. They were hoping to get HK$49 million (SGD8.1 million) for it, but nobody even made a bid. Photo: Instagram/Zhao Wei Couple announced divorce
Zhao and Huang announced they were getting divorced late last year. They actually bought that place back in 2012 for HK$72 million, and sold it in 2020, but nobody knows exactly how much they got for it. The apartment itself is big – it's got four bedrooms, comes with two parking spaces, and is about 3,494 square feet, which is like 324 square meters. It is situated in Tsuen Wan, New Territories, in the upscale residential complex known as The Westminster Terrace.
The building where that apartment is located, which was finished in 2009, is all fancy duplexes. Most of them are pretty big, ranging from about 2,400 to 3,400 square feet. And some of the penthouses up top are even much bigger, going up to 6,500 square feet.
As reported by Dimsum Daily , this sale might be happening because Zhao's ex-husband, Huang, who's a 48-year-old Singaporean businessman born in China, has been having a rough time legally. Apparently, Interpol even issued a red notice for him, and he got arrested in France. Plus, the people who regulate the markets in China have also sanctioned him and basically blacklisted him. Sued for failing to pay rent
Additionally, he was sued for allegedly failing to pay rent since May 2022 while having a home at The Westminster Terrace with six parking spaces since August 2020.
In 2008, Huang and Zhao tied the knot. A bit more about Zhao herself, who's also 48 – she became a huge star in China because of this really popular TV show called My Fair Princess. It was such a hit that people even gave her the nickname 'national goddess!'
Back in 2015, Forbes actually called Zhao Wei 'the world's wealthiest working actress.' That just goes to show she's not just good at acting; she's apparently a really smart investor too. Zhao Wei and her ex-husband Huang actually made a lot of money by investing in the Chinese stock market. So, besides her acting and directing career, she's also got a knack for making money through investments.
Things took a bit of a turn in 2018 when their business started to go downhill after the China Securities Regulatory Commission slapped them with a fine and also banned them from trading stocks. So, that earlier success in the stock market didn't last forever.
Chinese authorities put Zhao on some kind of blacklist, and after that, all her TV shows and movies started disappearing from online platforms in 2021. She has had a modest public profile ever since.
Zhao Wei, or Vicki Zhao as some people know her, has also directed movies, produced them, and she even sings! Apart from these, she's also respected and has a lot of influence in the entertainment world there. Four Dan Actress
Born on March 12, 1976, she rose to pan-Asian fame for her role as the playful Xiaoyanzi ( Little Swallow ) in the popular television series My Fair Princess (1998-1999). This role earned her the Golden Eagle Award for Best Actress and remains one of the most iconic TV characters of the decade.
Zhao Wei is actually considered one of China's 'Four Dan Actresses.' Basically, that's a title they give to the actresses who are not only huge box office successes but also get a lot of praise from critics in the Chinese-speaking world.

Tavia Yeung joins Raymond Lam's concert crowd, ends night with bus ride to hotpot
HONG KONG: Hong Kong singer-actor Raymond Lam is one fortunate dude. His Hong Kong Coliseum concert wasn't just about awesome guest artists like his former co-star Linda Chung; he also had a huge crew of his famous pals there, totally rallying behind him, according to The Star. Talk about a great support system. Photo: Instagram/Tavia Yeung Out of all the people there on one of his concert nights, Tavia Yeung, a former TVB actress, was definitely among them. Long-time friends Yeung and Lam's friendship goes way back – almost 25 years, actually! They've been pals ever since they graduated from TVB's 13th acting class together. Their class really showed up in full force at the concert! We spotted so many familiar faces—Mat Yeung, Tsui Wing, Meini Cheung, Raymond Chiu, Jones Lee, Bond Chan, and Olivia Fu were all there too. It felt like a proper reunion. Apparently, Yeung was spotted at Lam's concert with some of her former classmates. And it's not surprising they're so close, considering they've actually acted together in a bunch of TVB dramas, including Golden Faith , Twin Of Brothers , Face To Fate , and The Mysteries Of Love. According to , Lam recognised Yeung in the crowd when she exclaimed, 'See you at hotpot later!' See also Moses Chan makes SGD5.2 million a year at TVB Hotpot after the concert And just like she said, fans later saw the actress going for hotpot after the and her friends took a public bus to their destination. She was actually wearing a purple face mask, but that didn't stop passengers on the bus from recognising her. Then, to make things even better, she posted a photo on Instagram showing her and her friends on their bus journey. 'What a night to remember! Lam's concert was incredible—he really gave it his all. And as if that wasn't enough, we headed straight to Tsui Wing's afterward for some mouthwatering hotpot. Seriously, it felt like Lam actually put together a full-on Hong Kong Coliseum reunion specifically for our 13th intake So special.' It was not certain if Lam joined Yeung for hotpot post-concert. It's actually not that surprising, given that Yeung has celebrated her birthday with her old TVB acting classmates before, instead of with her husband, actor Him Law. Tavia Yeung Sin-yiu (born August 30, 1979), also previously known as Tavia Yeung Yi, is a Hong Kong actress. She began her career after graduating from TVB's acting classes in 1999, initially appearing in music videos and as an extra in TV dramas. Hong Kong activist Joshua Wong faces second charge under national security law
HONG KONG: Hong Kong authorities once again arrested prominent activist Joshua Wong on Friday (Jun 6) and charged him with conspiracy to collude with a foreign country under a Beijing-imposed national security law. Wong, 28, was originally set to be released in January 2027 from a 56-month jail sentence he is serving under the same law for conspiracy to commit subversion after he participated in an unofficial primary election. Taken to the West Kowloon magistrates' courts, Wong faced a new charge of conspiracy to collude with a foreign country or with external elements to endanger national security. The former student pro-democracy activist, who wore a blue shirt and appeared noticeably thinner than before, replied, "Understand", when the clerk read out the charge and details of the offence. Wong did not apply for bail, and the case was adjourned to Aug 8. Before returning to custody, he waved, shrugged, and shook his head in the direction of the public gallery. In a statement, Hong Kong's national security police said they had arrested a 28-year-old man on suspicion of the offence, as well as for "dealing with property known or believed to represent proceeds of an indictable offence". A charge sheet seen by Reuters accuses Wong of having conspired with exiled activist Nathan Law and others to ask foreign countries, institutions, organisations, or individuals outside China to impose sanctions or blockades. Such actions against Hong Kong or China, along with other hostile activities targeting them, took place in 2020, between Jul 1 and Nov 23, it added. The National Security Law, which punishes offences such as acts of subversion, collusion with foreign forces, and terrorism, with terms of up to life in jail, was imposed by Beijing on the former British colony in 2020. The Chinese and Hong Kong governments say the law is necessary to restore stability following anti-government protests in 2019.
