Ed Kelce posts throwback snap with Taylor Swift in honor of late girlfriend

Daily Maila day ago
's father Ed Kelce has shared a picture of his late girlfriend, Maureen Maguire, meeting Taylor Swift as he mourns her death.
According to her obituary, Maureen died on Friday at the age of 74, surrounded by loved ones.
The NFL star's dad hasn't commented so far on her death but has shared pictures of them together, including a snap with the pop star, 35, wearing Kansas City Chiefs merch.
In an interview last year with the Los Angeles Times, Ed revealed how his girlfriend and Taylor had struck up a bond. Maureen jokingly told the singer 'hey, that's my boyfriend' when Taylor took a selfie with Ed at an NFL game.
Her obituary describes how, thanks to Ed's influence, she developed a strong interest in football in the later years of her life.
It read: 'She also grew an unexpected love for football later in life, sharing many laughs and adventures with her beloved friend Ed Kelce and her loyal dog Butch.
'Together, they traveled often and attended football games and concerts, and embraced every opportunity to enjoy life to the fullest.'
It isn't known when Ed first met Maureen, or how. But Ed and Donna Kelce, the mother of Travis and Jason, went their separate ways after nearly 25 years of marriage around the time their sons were in college.
They remain friends to this day, with Travis and Jason becoming two of the most famous names in the NFL.
'I don't hate him. We're friends to this day. We get along great,' Donna once said of her ex-husband, adding: 'We were like a tag team with you two (Travis and Jason). We got to do all sorts of fun things. When one of you had to go out of town, the other person would help with the other child. It was perfect.'
In a 2023 documentary about the family, Ed explained that he and Donna stayed together to be better parents.
'If we had split as we probably both would have preferred, that would have been a nightmare with the logistics, getting kids where they had to be and providing all the support,' he added.
Travis and Jason have not yet commented on Maureen's passing. Travis is currently in training camp with the Chiefs ahead of the upcoming 2025 season, which for his team starts on September 5 in Brazil against the Los Angeles Chargers.
Ed told the Daily Mail in an exclusive interview how Maureen was with him when he met Taylor for the first time.
Since then, he has forged a close bond with the pop star and has spoken glowingly about her influence on Travis, saying she is 'a joy to be around'.

The very exclusive 'hidden away' Beverly Hills diner that Kylie Jenner, Timothee Chalamet and the Biebers love

There is an old-school Hollywood hangout that is both private and upscale that hipsters love to frequent. It's where Kylie Jenner holds hands with Timothee Chalamet over pancakes and scrambled it's where Justin Bieber takes his supermodel wife Hailey for bagels and cream cheese with a side of coffee. It's also where Kim Kardashian meets pals like La La Anthony, and Tom Cruise broke bread with Leonardo DiCaprio. Ashley Benson and her oil heir husband Brandon Davis took their newborn child there for lunch. Other famous stars who have sat at the counter include Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, Bruce Willis, Victoria Beckham, Elizabeth Taylor, Marilyn Monroe, Lauren Bacall, Rita Hayworth, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Lucille Ball. It is The Fountain Coffee Room located downstairs at the luxury Beverly Hills Hotel, and directly underneath the much more famous Polo Lounge. It is also not to be confused with the poolside Cabana Cafe. 'Stars love to come here because it's hidden away,' a frequent diner told 'I am here every week and I have seen tons of A-list star. I saw Kim here in a sweat outfit. It's fun and the star let down their hair, it's like pass me the salt, no one cares, no one takes photos or pitches scripts, it's chill.' It has 1950s style counter service at the hotel which has been nicknamed 'the pink place.' 'The iconic diner has been serving Hollywood stars since 1949 and you still never know who you might find yourself eating a slice of apple pie next to,' it says on the hotel's website. The menu offers a $32 healthy eggs benedict, $32 avocado toast, $34 Scottish salmon bagel with cream cheese, a $36 FCR Cobb salad, a $29 breakfast burrito and a $22 banana split, along many other things. For the budget-minded there is cereal for $9. Freshly squeezed orange juice is $14 and a cup of coffee is $7. It's open seven days a week from 7am until 4pm. The story of The Beverly Hills Hotel is almost like a fairy-tale, for where this hotel of legend now stands, there used to be a field of beans. Hollywood movie stars including Marilyn Monroe, Marlene Dietrich and Rita Hayworth used to hang out there. So did Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin. The iconic property on Sunset Boulevard was built in 1912, with architect Elmer Grey, for $500,000 ($13million in today's money). At that time, the city of Beverly Hills did not exist and the hotel was built in open fields and billed as a destination 'halfway between Los Angeles and the sea'. Two years after the hotel opened, Beverly Hills was incorporated as a city and by the 1920s it was one of the smartest addresses in the world. The hotel became known for making its famous guests feel at home, and indulging their desire for privacy. Among the first well-known guests were silent film-era stars such as Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton, who shot movies at the hotel. By the 1940s, the hotel switched hands. The new owner was Hernando Courtright, the vice president of Bank of America. He renamed El Jardin Restaurant the Polo Lounge in honour of a celebrity band of polo players who toasted victories at the restaurant after matches in the bean fields. Towards the end of the decade, the hotel had its first major facelift, and in 1947 it opened the Crystal Room and the Lanai Restaurant (later renamed The Coterie). The hotel is known for its pink exterior, and this hue first appeared in 1948 to complement LA's famous sunsets and the country club style of that time. That year also saw the addition of the Crescent Wing, named after the hotel's location on Crescent Drive. The hotel's name is written in huge letters on one of its outer walls - and this section is now one of the most photographed. In the early 1950s, Detroit real-estate magnate Ben Silberstein purchased the hotel for $5.5 million and its popularity with royalty and celebrities continued to escalate. New guests included the Duke and Duchess of Windsor, Princess Margaret and Lord Snowdon, King Albert of Belgium, the Crown Prince of Monaco, John Wayne and Henry Fonda. The menu offers a $32 healthy eggs benedict, $32 avocado toast, $34 Scottish salmon bagel with cream cheese, a $36 FCR Cobb salad, a $29 breakfast burrito and a $22 banana split, along many other things Another regular, the androgynously elegant Marlene Dietrich, convinced the hotel's Polo Lounge restaurant to change its 'no slacks for women' dress code in the 1940s. In 1956, the hotel's pool and cabana club were backdrops for Gregory Peck and Lauren Bacall in Designing Women, while Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and the rest of the Rat Pack engaged in prodigious drinking bouts in the Polo Lounge. Liz Taylor honeymooned in the hotel's lavish bungalows with six of her husbands, including Richard Burton. Bungalow Five was one of their favorite hangouts. Reclusive billionaire Howard Hughes not only lived in the bungalows on and off for 30 years but, starting in 1942, he parked his Cadillac in front of the hotel for so long that plants started growing out of it. He also had hotel staff leave late-night meals, including roast beef sandwiches, in a nearby tree. Marilyn Monroe stayed in bungalows 20 and 21 in 1960 while reportedly having an affair with her Let's Make Love co-star Yves Montand. John Lennon and Yoko Ono stayed in bed for a week in another bungalow in the 1970s. The Beverly Hills Hotel went through several ownership changes in the 1980s. The Boeskys gained control in 1986 for $100 million, and later that year, the hotel was sold for $136 million to Denver oilman Marvin Davis. In 1987, Davis sold the hotel to its present owner, the Dorchester Collection, which is run by the Sultan of Brunei. This link recently became controversial when Brunei rolled out its interpretation of Islamic laws, or sharia, punishing sodomy, adultery and rape with death, including by stoning. Actor George Clooney led a global backlash and the Southeast Asian country extended a moratorium on the death penalty to the legislation. On December 30, 1992, the hotel closed for a complete restoration, with the project lasting two and a half years. The hotel reopened on June 3, 1995, with upgrades and custom-designed furniture and fittings. And in 2016, the hotel began a restoration of its historic bungalows, with work conducted on all 23 bungalows in phases throughout 2018.

George Clooney hits back with foul-mouthed retort after critics accused him of playing himself in movies

George Clooney has hit out at critics who accused him of playing himself in his movies. The actor, 64, has had an illustrious career spanning 40 years, in which he's bagged an Academy Award for his role in Syriana in addition to a wealth of other accolades. But despite his success, the star has still come under fire about his versatility as a performer - and George had plenty to say about this in the form of a foul-mouthed retort. During a recent interview with Variety, the Ocean's 11 star was asked about the doubts about his range as an actor, with George furiously snapping back: 'Do people say that I only play myself? I don't give a sh*t.' George went on: 'There aren't that many guys in my age group that are allowed to do both broad comedies like O Brother [Where Art Though?] and then do Michael Clayton or Syriana. So if that means I'm playing myself all the time, I don't give a sh*t.' Echoing a quote from his character in upcoming project Jay Kelly, he added: Have you ever tried playing yourself? It's hard to do.' The actor, 64, has had an illustrious career spanning 40 years, in which he's bagged an Academy Award for his role in Syriana [pictured] in addition to a wealth of other accolades The Hollywood hunk continued: 'I've been the beneficiary of having my career not be massively successful in lots of different directions. I didn't really get successful, in the kind of success that can be blinding, until I was 33 years old [when ER began]. I'd been working for 12 years at that point. I had a real understanding of how fleeting all of it is and how little it has to do with you, quite honestly.' It comes after back in March, George quietly revealed the real reason he has quit starring in romantic comedies for good. The film star used to be one of the most sought after romantic comedy stars, but in recent years he has largely stepped away from the once-popular genre. George opened up about his changing career in an interview with 60 Minutes that that focused on his Broadway debut in Good Night, And Good Luck, a play adapted from the Oscar-nominated 2005 film that he directed, co-wrote and co-starred in. According to the A-list star, he has simply aged into a new phase of his career that doesn't align with most youth-focused rom-coms. 'Look, I'm 63 years old, I'm not trying to compete with 25-year-old leading men,' he admitted. 'That's not my job,' he continued, before declaring, 'I'm not doing romantic films anymore.' Echoing a quote from his character in upcoming project Jay Kelly, he added: Have you ever tried playing yourself? It's hard to do' Part of what has made Clooney so popular — which often translates to box-office success — is that he's charming enough to make non-romantic comedies feel as if they are rom-coms. Although his blockbuster heist comedy thriller Ocean's 11 isn't a traditional romantic comedy, the tension and humor that he brought to it with his costar Julia Roberts made every scene that they shared feel like a rom-com. One of George's most acclaimed films in the genre was an earlier collaboration with his Ocean's series director Steven Soderbergh on Out Of Sight. Even though that film had elements of a crime comedy and a thriller, his burgeoning on-screen romance with Jennifer Lopez comfortably sits with the best romantic comedies. According to the A-list star, he has simply aged into a new phase of his career that doesn't align with most youth-focused rom-coms [pictured with Julia Roberts and Brad Pitt in Ocean's 11] George also worked with the Coen brothers on the screwball comedy Intolerable Cruelty with costar Catherine Zeta-Jones, but his Cary Grant–like charm and screen presence means that even some of his more traditional romantic dramas get just enough comedy to feel like rom-coms. His last official rom-com to date was the 2022 box-office success Ticket To Paradise, which grossed nearly $169 million against a $60 million budget. He and Julia Roberts reunited for the film, in which they play divorced parents who team up to put a stop to their daughter's destination wedding in Bali. Clooney also notes in his 60 Minutes interview that his life has changed in other ways, as he's now a married man with children, rather than one of Hollywood's most eligible bachelors, as he was at the height of his commercial potential.
