Billionaire bowling scion splits with wife after age gap affair with kids' former nanny

A Virginia billionaire bowling heir cheated on his wife with their kids' ex-nanny and demanded a divorce in a ruthless Christmas Day outburst, court documents reveal. Peter Goodwin, 40, the son of the former co-owner of the massive AMF Bowling chain William Goodwin, was admittedly unfaithful to his clinical psychologist wife, Cara Goodwin, 40. As Cara cared for their children, Peter was off allegedly wining and dining the woman once hired by the couple, according to court papers obtained by the New York Post. Annette Lombard, 27, started working for the ultra-wealthy family in 2019 while she studied at the University of Virginia. She lived with them full-time during the pandemic and started working at Peter's office. She was eventually promoted to vice president of his company. Cara was unsettled by how close Peter and Annette had become by the end of 2020, but when she expressed her discomfort, her concerns were 'dismissed,' according to the filings. In August 2023, Cara gave birth to her fourth child with Peter, and about a month later, her estranged husband 'began expressing strong desire for more independence and time away from his family to focus on his own self-care.' This 'self-care' may have included luxury sports car and watches with hefty price tags, as displayed on Peter's Instagram account. 'Just trying to keep the revs high,' his bio reads. His page is flooded with pictures of Ferraris and Rolexes, flaunting his lavish lifestyle to his nearly 17,000 followers. Peter allegedly felt that Christmas Day of the same year would be an appropriate time to tell Cara as she held their baby that their marriage was through, documents say. Cara 'sat in front of him holding their four-month-old daughter' as he abruptly broke the news and took off. As he left, he was allegedly belligerently screaming and cursing as all his kids - aged two, five, seven and nine - watched in horror. Peter and Annette launched into their full-fledged romance, indulging in luxurious stays at the Four Seasons Hotel in Florida less than a week later, according to court documents. Over the next several months, the pair 'engaged in adulterous acts' from Wyoming to Florida, allegedly staying at the place Peter and Cara have together. Peter officially filed for divorce in January 2025. There is a prenup in place and Cara wants half of their marital assets - including their companies - child support and $500,000 to cover legal fees. They have shared custody of their kids, as agreed upon last year. The New York Post reported that Peter filed to try to seal the divorce papers last month. Cara's legal team is against this motion. Cara and Peter got married in 2014. According to public records, they founded the Peter and Cara Goodwin Foundation. Peter also has multiple other businesses connected to his name. Cara, who holds a PhD, is the founder of Parenting Translator, a brand that has more than 135,000 Instagram followers. The best-selling author focuses her practice on advising parents on the best ways to raise their children. Her social media is filled with informative tips about parenting, as well as inspirational messages for people with kids. Peter's father, William, is one of Virginia's most prominent figures. William, 84, worked at IBM and Phillip Morris Worldwide before founding his own company, Commonwealth Computer Advisors (CCA) Industries, in 1971. CCA Industries and the Riverstone Group, a diversified holding company, had business interests that included lavish resorts and hotels. Since his retirement, William has been recognized for his philanthropy, especially in the realm of cancer research. He founded his own national cancer research foundation, The Red Gates Foundation, with a $250 million donation in 2021 in honor of his son Hunter, who lost his life to the disease. William also serves on the University of Virginia board. He was appointed twice- once by former Virginia Governor George Allen and again by ex-Governor Bob McDonnell.

Jon Gruden wins legal round in case against NFL

August 12 - Former Las Vegas Raiders coach Jon Gruden registered a victory over the NFL in court on Monday. The Nevada Supreme Court, in a 5-2 ruling, decided that Gruden's lawsuit against the league can proceed in civil court rather than being settled in an arbitration hearing to which the NFL could designate the arbitrator. The decision backed the assertion by Gruden's legal team that the NFL's arbitration process didn't apply to Gruden because he wasn't a league employee at the time he wrote emails that are central to his lawsuit. Gruden also contended that commissioner Roger Goodell should not be allowed to select an arbitrator when he is a party to the dispute. Gruden's attorney, Adam Hosmer-Henner, said in a statement, "We're very pleased with the Nevada Supreme Court's decision, not just for Coach Gruden but for all employees facing an employer's unfair arbitration process. This victory further vindicates Coach Gruden's reputation, and it clears the way to swiftly bringing him full justice and holding the NFL accountable." The NFL, which could appeal the Nevada Supreme Court's decision to the U.S. Supreme Court, did not publicly reply to the Monday ruling, multiple media outlets reported. Gruden's lawsuit alleges that the NFL leaked emails from him that included homophobic and misogynistic wording. The emails were sent during the 2010s when Gruden was working as an ESPN analyst and not employed by an NFL team. The leaks occurred after the NFL found the emails as part of a separate investigation in the Washington Football Team in 2021, when Gruden was coaching the Raiders. Once the emails were made public, Gruden resigned as Las Vegas' coach on Oct. 11, 2021. He sued the league a month later, maintaining that "through a malicious and orchestrated campaign ... the NFL and Commissioner Roger Goodell sought to destroy the career and reputation of Jon Gruden, the former head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders." --Field Level Media
