MP CM Mohan Yadav lays foundation stone for restoration of Lalbagh Palace in Indore
The project estimated over Rs 47 crore, aims to rejuvenate the historic palace and believed to be an important step towards conserving the heritage and establishing it as a major tourism site in the state.
'Today, I performed the ground breaking ceremony for the restoration and garden redevelopment works of Lalbagh Palace costing more than Rs 47 crore during my visit to Indore. Lalbagh Palace is a symbol of our rich heritage and cultural pride. Conservation of this heritage will prove to be a meaningful step towards connecting the coming generations with our history, promoting tourism and establishing the glorious history of Indore on the global stage,' CM Yadav stated in a post on X.
The Chief Minister also paid tribute to Malharrao Holkar, founder of the Holkar dynasty by garlanding his statue at Lalbagh Palace, Indore on the occasion of his death anniversary.

Additionally, Chief Minister Yadav also visited Kamla Nehru Prani Sangrahalaya (Indore Zoo) and released the male King Cobra in the snake park on the occasion. He further lauded the efforts and arrangements of the zoo management for the conservation of biodiversity.
'Today during my stay in Indore, I visited Kamla Nehru Prani Sangrahalaya and released the male King Cobra in the Snake Park. The efforts being made here for the conservation of biodiversity are commendable. Lucknow: Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Friday took a veiled dig at the RSS after it was lauded by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his Independence Day speech, saying it should thank the British on completion of its 100 years as some organisations were made by them so that the country could be divided on religious lines. Speaking to reporters at the Janeshwar Mishra Park in Lucknow after hoisting the tricolour, the former Uttar Pradesh chief minister also questioned the prime minister's 'swadeshi' pitch, saying those who are swadeshi only by speech should become swadeshi in mind. I want to remind them that when the BJP was formed and the person who became the first national president of the BJP, in its first session, it was decided that the political ideology of the party would be socialist and secular. 'And, on this completion of 100 years, they should congratulate the British. Because we have heard and some historians have also written that some organisations were made by the British so that 'Bharat' could be divided on religious lines, a gulf could be created between Hindus and Muslims. 'Hence, the Sanghi saathis, whose first ideology is socialist and secular, they should remember it, so that the country can move forward,' Yadav said. Prime Minister Modi on Friday hailed 100 years of RSS as a 'very proud and glorious' journey of the 'world's biggest NGO' and lauded all its volunteers for their dedicated service to the nation. The prime minister also made a sweeping call for 'swadeshi' (Made in India) -- self-reliance and innovation in a gamut of sectors, including semiconductors, social media, fertiliser and pharma. 'Those who are swadeshi only by speech should become swadeshi from mind as well,' Yadav said, while raising issues like US tariffs and GST. 'The BJP people should not be speaking lies on August 15 (Independence Day), a day which is celebrated with joy. No politics should be done during this,' the SP chief said. 'Our borders should be secured, our Army should be strong, and schemes like Agniveer should be stopped. And, we also see those people, who appear to be 'swadeshi' from speech, but are 'videshi' (foreigners) from the mind ('aur hum unn logo ko bhi dekhte hai jo mooh se to swadeshi hai, lekin mann se videshi hai'). 'If someone is a foreigner in mind, then how will our business increase? Today, a country like the US is posing a problem for our industrialists by imposing tariffs,' Yadav said. He said a district like Bhadohi used to do trade worth thousands of crores of rupees but now its business has shrunk significantly. 'And, there is China -- our neighbour, which occupies our land from time to time, has captured our entire market. Today, we have the highest trade deficit with China. Hence, those who are swadeshi only by speech should become swadeshi from mind as well,' Yadav said. India has recorded trade surplus with as many as 151 countries such as the US and the Netherlands, while the country has a trade deficit with 75 nations, including China and Russia, during the first half of this year, according to think tank GTRI (Global Trade Research Initiative). Yadav also said that the 'web of GST and fear-inducing ('daraane waalee) institutions such as ED, CBI and Income Tax, will not allow our trade to increase, but will lead to closure'. Referring to the dropping of the atom bombs on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the SP chief said, 'After the dropping of bombs on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki during World War II, the results which were visible, the world accepted that it will never go into an atomic war. We will not use atomic energy to take someone's life.

State to become world's ‘Capital of Innovation': CM
Bengaluru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Friday said Karnataka is already India's IT capital, and it is now stepping forward to become the world's 'Capital of Innovation'. He said Karnataka ranks second nationally in attracting foreign direct investment, and remains among the nation's leading industrial states. The Chief Minister said this while delivering his address at the 79th Independence Day celebrations here. 'Our government has never lagged in prioritising industrial growth. To manage and develop the state's largest industrial regions into global manufacturing hubs with world-class infrastructure, 18 industrial areas covering 44,166 acres have been declared Special Investment Regions. Alongside, we continue to encourage small industries,' Siddaramaiah said. He said, investors have expressed interest in bringing in over Rs 10 lakh crore in investments. Out of this, 48 per cent has already been processed under Single Window IT Platform. Karnataka remains among the nation's leading industrial states, with the manufacturing sector contributing 23.6 per cent to the state's GSDP, and the state ranks second nationally in attracting foreign direct investment, he said. 'A new Tourism Policy has been implemented to boost tourism in the state by developing world-class infrastructure and fostering entrepreneurship in the sector.' Noting that the government has rolled out multiple programmes for the welfare of labourers, particularly in the unorganised sector, the CM said, 'We will be soon implementing the Karnataka Labour Policy to ensure job security.' The state has made significant achievements in the services sector, which contributes 66.7 per cent to our GSDP, he said, 'We are not only safeguarding the interests of all workers engaged in this sector, but enacting 'Platform-Based Gig Workers Bill' for the welfare of over five lakh gig workers.' Under this Bill, the government is introducing an insurance scheme providing coverage of up to Rs 4 lakh for these workers, he added. The government is undertaking various initiatives for job creation, Siddaramaiah said and added that at Invest Karnataka-2025 (Global Investors Meet), held in February 2025, a total of 3,250 entrepreneurs participated. 'We signed agreements with 98 companies for investment of Rs 6,23,970 crore, and 1,101 companies have obtained necessary approvals for investments worth Rs 4,03,533 crore. These initiatives are expected to generate over 6 lakh jobs,' he said. In 2023-24, Karnataka attracted Rs 54,427 crore in foreign investment, ranking third in the country, Siddarmaiah said. 'In 2024-25, we have attracted Rs 56,030 crore, moving up to second place nationally,' he added. Stating that Karnataka is at the forefront in quantum technology, artificial intelligence, renewable energy, and biotechnology, Siddaramaiah said the country's first quantum computer is in Karnataka. 'Our Karnataka Quantum Mission will shape the future of science.' 'We are not merely creating jobs. We are creating ideas, inventions, and innovations that change lives. These ideas are reaching far beyond our borders,' he added.

Nitish pledges to provide govt jobs, employment opportunities to one crore youth 'in coming years'
Bihar Chief Minister on Friday pledged to provide government jobs and other employment opportunities to one crore youth in the state "in the coming years". He was addressing a gathering after unfurling the tricolour at the Gandhi Maidan on Independence Day here. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now "Bihar is moving ahead with high growth rate and development. Earlier, we had promised to provide 10 lakh government jobs to our youth. But now we have fixed a new target of providing jobs and employment opportunities to one crore youth in the state," Kumar said. "Over eight lakh youths were given government jobs initially. In 2020, under 'Seven Resolves-2', the target was raised to 12 lakh government jobs and 38 lakh employment opportunities. So far, 10 lakh youths have already been given government jobs, and 39 lakh people have been given employment. Over 50 lakh will be employed before the coming assembly polls. Over the next five years, one crore youths will be provided jobs and employment opportunities", he added. The CM also announced several initiatives that will be taken by the NDA government in the state. "The government has also decided to introduce a uniform fee of Rs 100 for preliminary tests of all competitive exams in the state and no money will be charged for appearing in the mains. This decision will benefit lakhs of youth who aspire for government jobs in the state," Kumar added. The decision assumes significance in view of the Assembly polls in the state due later this year. Highlighting the state's industrial growth, Kumar said the government is taking steps to attract new industries. "We will offer capital subsidies, interest subsidies, and GST incentives for setting up industries. Land will be provided in all districts, and employment-intensive industries will be given land free of cost. The CM said seven new medical colleges will be opened in Kishanganj, Katihar, Rohtas, Sheohar, Lakhisarai, Sheikhpura, and Arwal. He added that special buses will run for Bihari migrants during Diwali, Chhath Puja, and Holi from cities like Delhi, Gurugram, and Chandigarh. The state government will also request additional festival trains from the Centre. Referring to the 2023 caste-based survey, Kumar said, "Our survey identified 94 lakh poor families across castes and communities. We had planned financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh per family over five years. Now, the entire amount will be provided at once. A high-level committee has been formed to oversee this." Kumar asserted that restoring law and order has been a key focus since his government was formed in November 2005. "At that time, crime was rampant. Today, Bihar Police strength has reached 1.31 lakh. Recruitment is ongoing. Incidents of murder, dacoity, loot, and kidnappings have drastically declined compared to 2005," he added. He said special attention has been given by the state government on education and healthcare sectors. Highlighting the initiatives taken by the state government for women empowerment, Kumar said, "Since 2006, 50 per cent reservation has been given to women in panchayats. Since 2007, such reservations were implemented in urban local bodies. In 2016, 35 per cent reservation was also given in all government jobs to women". He added that the government approved 430 new schemes worth Rs 50,000 crore to address development gaps. Pensions for the elderly, disabled, and widows have been increased from Rs 400 to Rs 1,100 per month, he added. "When we formed the government in 2005-06, the budget of the state was Rs 28,000 crore. It increased to Rs 34,000 crore in 2006-07 and has now surpassed Rs 3.16 lakh crore," he said. The recent decision by the central government to conduct a nationwide caste-based census is a commendable step, the CM said. "The Union Budget 2025-26 included a Makhana Board, Greenfield airport, support for the Western Kosi Canal, a national-level food processing institute, and expansion of IIT Patna. Hosting the 2025 Khelo India Youth Games was a matter of great pride, and the event was successfully held in the state," he added. Continuing a long-standing tradition, after the ceremony at Gandhi Maidan, the CM visited a Mahadalit Tola, a symbolic gesture he performs every Independence Day. Additionally, the tricolour was ceremonially hoisted by Sukhu Choudhary in Punpun, on the outskirts of Patna, following another tradition.
