Argentine court declares a mistrial in the case over the death of soccer star Maradona
BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (AP) — An Argentine court on Thursday declared a mistrial in the case of seven health professionals accused of negligence in the death of soccer legend Diego Maradona, the latest dramatic twist in a trial that has captivated the nation and the soccer world for more than two months.
The whiplash decision comes after one of the three judges overseeing the trial stepped down over criticism surrounding her participation in a forthcoming documentary about the case.

Her withdrawal compelled the court to either appoint a new judge in her place or to retry the entire case from scratch.
On Thursday, the judges decided the latter, effectively turning the clock back on all proceedings in the case that accuses Maradona's medical team of failing to provide adequate care for the soccer star in his final days.

At least 31 Palestinians are killed while heading to a Gaza aid site, officials and witnesses say
RAFAH, Gaza Strip (AP) — At least 31 people were killed and over 170 were wounded Sunday while on their way to receive food in the Gaza Strip, health officials and witnesses said. Witnesses said Israeli forces fired on crowds around a kilometer (1,000 yards) from an aid site run by an Israeli-backed foundation. It was the deadliest incident yet around the new aid distribution system, which has operated for less than a week.

Slugger Adolis García sits again as Rangers look for him to make ‘mechanical changes' at plate
ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Slumping Rangers slugger Adolis García was held out of Texas' lineup for the third consecutive day Sunday, with president of baseball operations Chris Young saying the club wants the 2023 ALCS MVP to make some mechanical changes. 'We need him to kind of commit to some of these changes that we think will get him back to the '23 version of himself and help him be the player that we know he can be,' Young said before Texas' series finale against St. Louis. García is hitting .155 in the last 20 games with 25 strikeouts. He is hitting .207 overall, with seven homers and a team-high 27 RBIs on a team that has struggled offensively. He ranked 14th in the majors with 122 home runs over the past four seasons.
