David Adeleye trained with celeb star Jake Paul, is on verge of world title shot but says uni degree is his biggest win

The Sun5 days ago
DAVID ADELEYE faces the fight of his career against Filip Hrgovic - but he says his biggest win will always be his university degree.
The London heavyweight comes in as an outsider on Saturday in Saudi Arabia - on the undercard of Moses Itauma vs Dillian Whyte in Riyadh.
But boxing clever will be no problem for Adeleye.
After all, he achieved a Business Management degree from the University of Wolverhampton in 2019 - just months before turning professional.
He juggled ringsmarts with booksmarts by completing his studies while fighting as an amateur out of West London's Dale Youth gym.
Boxing gave Adeleye the chance to duck trouble on the streets - but it was his academics that meant the most to his parents.
He told SunSport: "I got myself in a lot of trouble man, and I felt like it's only that I'd make my mum and dad proud somehow.
"So getting a degree was obviously for them, whereas boxing was for me."
Adeleye has 14 knockouts in his 15 wins, losing just once, but no victory comes close to his business degree.
He said: "I think I beat the odds by obviously getting that degree because a lot of people were obviously probably thinking I wouldn't do it.
Moses Itauma vs Dillian Whyte - all the info
One of the biggest fights of the year has arrived
The highly-touted Moses Itauma faces the biggest test of his fledgling career as he steps into the ring with Dillian Whyte on Saturday night.
Itauma, 20, has great expectations on his shoulders - he has been compared to Mike Tyson and is expected by many to dominate boxing's heavyweight division over the next decade.
But the Slovakian-born star - who sits at 12-0 (10KOs) is yet to face a test anywhere close to what Whyte can offer.
The Body Snatcher is now 37 and has not looked great in his last couple of fights, but the former world title challenger knows an upset win would catapult him right back to the top table.

"But education, I was always good, I got good GCSEs, I did good in college and then uni. I finished up good."
If Adeleye was not in the classroom, he was in the boxing gym, swerving cheap uni nights out on the town like a jab-cross combination.
David Adeleye reveals hilarious story about owing Tyson Fury money for parking ticket
He said: "Everyone's going out for freshers' or there's something going on like every Wednesday people go here, every Thursday people go there.
"For me it was about training and a lot of the times I was in London because I had fights back and forth.
"But thankfully my uni were kind of understanding as well cause they knew I boxed.
"They gave me a lot of leeway if I wasn't coming to lectures or seminars because obviously I was training."
Adeleye needed just one amateur bout - which ended in devastating KO - to convince his dad to back his boxing career.
His mum, however, could not bring herself to watch and still does her best not to now - even though her boy is a pro.
But she does check in to make sure Adeleye - a 2018 national amateur champion - is not cutting corners in training camp.

Adeleye, known as Big Dave during his time in the unpaid ranks, chuckled: "My mum never really watched my amateur fights.
"But it's so funny because now, she tries not to watch it but always ends up putting it on.
"And they're calling me like, 'Have you gone training? Have you skipped training? Are you doing this?' It's the opposite of before."
Adeleye, 28, suffered his only loss in October 2023 by knockout to Fabio Wardley, 30.
It marked his final fight with trainer Theo Chambers - most recognised as the head coach to YouTube star Jake Paul.
Adeleye lived and trained out of Paul's adopted home of Puerto Rico - where the American lives in a £13MILLION mansion.
He spent time with the prankster-turned-prizefighter - and met the man behind the villain persona.
Adeleye revealed: "He's a cool guy. Nothing like what you see online, nothing what you see on YouTube. He is a proper down to earth fella.

"But I suppose people are gonna say that about everything. I think people say that about me, right?
"Some people see me online and they think I'm a certain way and then when they meet me in person it's like, 'He's not the same person.'
"But it's just the way it is, right? You just gotta know somebody. I understand them."
Adeleye swapped the palm trees and celebrity circles for the sleepy Surrey town of Merstham under esteemed coach Adam Booth.
And Booth - who shot to recognition as David Haye's trainer - cornered Adeleye to KOs over Solomon Dacres and Jeamie Tshikeva.
But not content with just the British title around his waist - Adeleye jumps up to world level to fight 18-1 Hrgovic on DAZN PPV.
Adeleye said: "When it got offered to me, we said yes and I think the fight got signed and sealed within like 48 hours. It was quick.
"It got offered to me, I took it in a heartbeat."
Adeleye comes into the bout still as an outsider to the heavyweight's elite - but vows to fight his way into the world title frame.
He warned: "This is my coming out fight.
"This is the fight that gets me up in the mix, gets my name involved with all these world title fights."

Homeowners can earn £100s a month from their driveway in the easiest sidehustle – how you can too

HOMEOWNERS could make easy money ahead of the new Premier League season - simply by having a driveway they're not using. A team of experts has analysed postcodes near the nation's major stadiums to determine where householders could earn the most money by renting out their driveways to fans. 3 3 3 According to Leasing Options, residents living near Tottenham Hotspur Stadium (N17) enjoy the highest earning potential, with an average daily income of £22.25 throughout the year. Other lucrative areas include postcodes near Leeds ' Elland Road Stadium, where homeowners can make £22 a day, and Ch e lsea 's Stamford Bridge in London, offering £21.50 per day. For those living near Wembley Stadium, the country's iconic football venue that hosts the England National Team, cup finals and events like the recent Community Shield, the earning potential is similar at £21 per day. Likewise, residents near Scotland's Hampden Park and Wales' Cardiff City Stadium can expect to earn around £21 a day. Further down the rankings, homeowners in Liverpool living near Anfield and Everton Stadium can still earn a respectable £13 per day, with prices often more than tripling on matchdays or during special events. With the Premier League season kicking off this weekend, renting out an unused driveway could be one of the simplest and most effective sidehustles for homeowners looking to make some extra cash. It isn't just sporting events either, as some of the highest earners this year so far are music events - including high-profile concerts and festivals. These events often result in single-day earnings that surpass what would typically be made in a week - making them a particularly lucrative option for those living nearby. At the top of the list is Oasis at Heaton Park in Manchester, where driveway rentals can fetch an average of £165.67 per day during the event. Following closely is Beyonce's tour stop at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, with homeowners earning an average of £150.26 per day during her shows. Shocking moment 'rude' dad parks car on STRANGER'S driveway to avoid school run chaos - before furious mum confronts him Similarly, the Wimbledon Championships in London provide an average earning potential of £101.08 per day for residents near the All England Tennis Club. Other notable events include Guns N' Roses at Villa Park in Birmingham, where locals can earn £97.40 daily, and Sabrina Carpenter's concert at Hyde Park in London, which offers average earnings of £94.92. Stadiums that can provide income opportunities year-round Tottenham Hotspur Stadium (London): £22.25/day Elland Road (Leeds): £22.00/day Stamford Bridge (London): £21.50/day Wembley Stadium (London): £21.00/day Hampden Park (Glasgow): £21.00/day Cardiff City Stadium (Cardiff): £21.00/day OVO Arena Wembley (London): £21.00/day Marshall Arena (Milton Keynes): £15.00/day Anfield (Liverpool): £13.00/day Everton Stadium (Liverpool): £13.00/day Leasing Options analysed data from JustPark to identify the UK's most profitable areas for driveway rentals. The study focused on over 25 major cities and key 2025 events, mapping more than 750 postcode districts using public data. Commercial listings were excluded, location accuracy was verified and districts with insufficient data were removed, leaving over 550 reliable areas. Median weekday and weekend rates were averaged to calculate daily earning potential, while event-day prices were separately assessed for major fixtures. Commenting on the data, Mike Thompson, Chief Executive Officer at Leasing Options, said: 'With demand for event parking soaring across the UK, it's clear that homeowners have a real opportunity to turn their unused driveways into a valuable source of extra income. 'Our data shows that locations near major stadiums like Tottenham Hotspur, Elland Road and Wembley consistently attract high rental prices. 'During big-name events, these figures can more than triple. "It's a smart, low-effort way for people to benefit from the buzz around them, especially in areas where parking is at a premium. 'As we look ahead to a packed 2025 event calendar, the potential for driveway rentals is only set to grow." How to rent out your driveway For those interested in turning their unused driveway into a steady source of income, there are a handful of steps you can follow. Check Eligibility - Review your mortgage or lease agreement to ensure renting out your driveway is allowed, and also check with your local council to confirm you don't need planning permission. Choose a Platform - Platforms like JustPark, YourParkingSpace and ParkOnMyDrive make it easy to list your driveway. You can sign up, create a profile and provide details about your parking space, such as dimensions, location and availability. Set Your Price - Research current rates in your area using the platform's tools or by browsing other listings. You can even adjust the price for special events or peak times to maximise earnings. Add Photos and a Description - Make sure upload clear photos of your driveway and write a good description, highlighting features such as proximity to venues, security and ease of access. Manage Bookings - Set your availability for weekdays, weekends or specific dates. Also use the platform's booking system to approve requests and communicate with renters. Ensure Insurance - Consider public liability insurance to cover accidents or damages while someone is using your driveway. Track Your Income - You must keep records of your earnings and remember that if they exceed £1,000 annually, you'll need to declare them to HMRC under the Property Income Allowance. This comes as Sun Motors recently looked at the family motors that lose the least value over time - with a luxury compact SUV taking the top spot. New data from the analysis of 40 million UK car sales over a typical three-year ownership period highlights which family models hold their value best. Experts from Carmoola have recently released their new Car Depreciation Index, developed with vehicle data specialists Brego, which ranks the top-performing family cars for resale value. They found that the Porsche Macan is the slowest-depreciating family car sold in the UK - losing just 19.9% of its value over three years. The Macan is particularly popular in the UK due to its blend of sporty performance, SUV practicality and the prestige of the Porsche badge. It's championed for being agile and powerful, with a well-tuned suspension that makes it enjoyable to drive on various UK roads, from city streets to country lanes.

Eberechi Eze appears emotional applauding fans amid Tottenham transfer links - as Liverpool target Marc Guehi appears to IGNORE Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner after draw with Chelsea

Crystal Palace 's superstar duo of Eberechi Eze and Marc Guehi may have said their goodbyes after the Eagles' 0-0 draw against Chelsea on Sunday. Eze has been the subject of strong transfer speculation surrounding a move to London rivals Tottenham Hotspur, while Guehi has been linked to Premier League champions Liverpool. The England internationals have been pivotal to Palace's success under Oliver Glasner in the past year, with both playing their hand in the club's FA Cup success last season and triumph in the FA Community Shield earlier this month. However, after Palace's stalemate at Stamford Bridge, many have suggested that the pair have made their swansong for the south London club. Eze appeared to shed tears while sitting on the bench after being withdrawn in the 84th minute. After full-time, he looked emotional as he lapped up the support from Palace's away fans. However, Guehi's speculated farewell appeared to be more hostile. 🗣️ "He looked emotional" 🗣️ "That's part of the food chain I'm afraid" Daniel Sturridge and Roy Keane discuss full-time scenes at Stamford Bridge where Ebere Eze looked like he was saying goodbye to Palace fans — Sky Sports Premier League (@SkySportsPL) August 17, 2025 The centre back seemingly ignored his manager as Glasner called him over after the whistle. Instead, Guehi marched straight towards the tunnel, leaving Glasner visibly confused. Afterwards, Palace striker Jean-Phillipe Mateta also appeared perplexed, and looked to question Glasner about what happened, while turning his head Guehi's way. Speaking after the game, Sky Sports pundit Micah Richards said of the frosty interaction: 'Yeah, I don't know if the manager asked him if he's all right. 'Maybe he's got a little knock or something, but it was the reaction after when he went to Mateta, and then Mateta was like, "Is something wrong?" 'Now we don't want to speculate, but Mark Guehi is ultra professional, so...' Daniel Sturridge also weighed in. He said: 'I don't know. I don't know if it's performative. I don't know. Obviously, the cameras are there. 'Is it a: "Oh yeah, I'm going to put my arm around you", and that could have been what it was. 'Guehi, he's made a decision to go down the tunnel. They'll have a chat when he gets to the dressing room. And I'm sure over the course of the next few days, we might find out what exactly happened.' 🗣️ "It's like the new garlic bread" Roy Keane's thoughts on that Oliver Glasner and Marc Guehi interaction at full-time of Chelsea vs Crystal Palace... — Sky Sports Premier League (@SkySportsPL) August 17, 2025 Marc Guehi appeared to snub Oliver Glasner and head straight to the dressing room at full-time Regarding Eze's emotional scenes, Sturridge said: 'He's on his own thanking them. It looks that way. I think the Palace fans love the player and admire everything he's done for the football club. 'For him, if this is the end, he's been a fantastic servant for the team. I don't know his routine, and that might be his routine that he goes and claps the fans after the game, but he looked emotional. He looked emotional.' Roy Keane, meanwhile, looked onwards and upwards and welcomed the prospect of a big-money move for Eze. The veteran pundit added: 'Palace must realise where they are on the food chain. I think it's a good sign. 'The bigger clubs are coming for your players, and you're getting £50, 60, 70million. That's what's going to happen. That's credit to the players in the club.

Roy Keane rips into 'shocking' Arsenal superstar and claims only 'four or five players turned up' despite 1-0 victory over Man United

ripped into Martin Odegaard 's performance during Arsenal 's 1-0 victory against Manchester United, insisting he was 'shocking'. Mikel Arteta 's side emerged from Old Trafford with a hard-fought three points after Riccardo Calafiori capitalised on a blunder from United goalkeeper Altay Bayindir. Bayindir had failed to punch away Declan Rice 's inswinging corner, and a deflection off the back of his gloves allowed Calafiori to steal in at the far post and touch home. It was a promising display from the new-look hosts, who started big-money summer signings Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha and brought on £74million man Benjamin Sesko when they were chasing the game around the hour mark. Cunha was a particular thorn in the side of the visitors, testing David Raya on three occasions, while Patrick Dorgu struck the post and Mbeumo saw a header kept out. As a result, Arsenal were perhaps fortunate to leave with a win in their curtain raiser, and Keane believes much of Arteta's side simply did not turn up. He reserved especially scathing criticism for captain Odegaard, however. Keane said on Sky Sports: 'This was an Arsenal team who, I think four or five players turned up, right. Praise for Odegaard... I thought Odegaard was shocking. '[Bukayo] Saka didn't do much, players off the bench didn't do too much. 'This was below par from Arsenal.' Arsenal are widely expected to mount another charge for the Premier League title this season and Keane believes they must be more relentless to get over the line, pointing to occasions they opted to sit on a lead instead of chasing more goals. He added: 'From Arsenal's point of view, the sign of a really good team is when you're not at your best to win football matches. The worry for me, a little bit in the second half and the manager mentioned there, there were opportunities to really go at United. 'They seemed off from that point of view. But if you can win when you're not at your best, and that's a big plus. 'Going forward, when you're competing, you're trying to compete now with the likes of Liverpool and Man City, they seem to want to go for that second goal or that third goal, whereas Arsenal are still a bit, we got one, and we maybe hold on to it. 'That kind of backfired a little bit last year. Again, we go back to it, they had too many draws, too many draws. That won't win you league titles. 'That's where they have to improve.'
