HDR By Barco To Reach 30 Theatres By The End Of 2025
Barco, the imaging company and leader in cinema laser projectors, has announced that its HDR by Barco technology will be rolling out to additional North America locations this year, bringing the total to 30 by the end of 2025.
While the specific locations were not revealed, Barco said that Regal Cinemas will be adding the system to a further 20 of its RPX-branded locations, with the rest coming from the Texas-based Alamo Drafthouse.
No new locations outside of the USA were announced, so, for now, Cineworld Leicester Square remains the only HDR by Barco-ready site in Europe.
The company has also previously announced a partnership with Prasad Film Labs to bring the first HDR by Barco capable color grading facility to India.
Of course, technology hardware is nothing without content, and after a slow start, it has revealed a healthy slate of HDR by Barco releases for the rest of the year, all of which are listed below, with How To Train Your Dragon currently showing.
No doubt related to the opening of the grading facility in India, Barco says that Indian cinema content graded for HDR by Barco will be forthcoming.
Finally, Barco also announced that a new dedicated HDR by Barco facility will be opened in the iconic Glen Glenn Film Center in Hollywood this July. The fully renovated suite will feature HDR by Barco projection as well as state-of-the-art sound and film grading capabilities.
As well as being available for industry demos and screenings, Barco says that the facility will be open to filmmakers for feature grading, which should ensure that HDR by Barco graded titles become the norm.
First introduced in late 2024, HDR by Barco is the highest-quality projection format available, with its Lightsteering technology enabling true HDR projection, offering viewers richer and more intense images that are up to six times brighter than conventional systems. However, the system could soon have competition for true cinematic HDR with Samsung launching its Onyx Cinema LED system for the first time in Europe at CineEurope 2025.

Rumble considers near $1.2 billion offer for German AI cloud group Northern Data
(Reuters) -U.S.-listed video platform Rumble is considering a potential offer of about $1.17 billion (1 billion euro) for German AI cloud group Northern Data AG, according to separate statements from the companies and Reuters calculations. Rumble, also a cloud services provider, said a deal would integrate Northern Data's data center business and GPU cloud business with a significant number of Nvidia GPUs, into Rumble's existing operations. Rumble is considering offering 2.319 shares for each Northern Data share, both companies said. The exchange values Northern Data at about $18.3 per share (about 15.69 euros per share), based on Reuters calculations. This is at a discount of about 32% to the German company's last close. Rumble said its proposed offer assumes Northern Data's Peak Mining unit will be divested prior to the completion of the deal. Tether, the majority shareholder of Northern Data, has expressed support for the transaction, according to the statements. However, the companies said there is no certainty that the discussions will eventually result in a formal offer for the German group. (1 euro = $1.1664)

John F. Kennedy Jr.'s family and friends opened up about his complicated five-year romance with Daryl Hannah in the new CNN documentary American Prince.
