Warframe's Hardest Game Mode Gets Bigger in the Techrot Encore Update
One of the biggest Warframe updates of 2024 added the Deep Archimedea game mode, which forced players to plumb the depths of the Sanctum Anatomica to fight special enemies and bring back some of the best rewards in the long-running, free-to-play online shooter. One year and a massive Warframe 1999 update later, this game mode is getting an enormous expansion.
Temporal Archimedea is bringing the challenges of the Deep Archimedea game mode to the Hollvania tileset -- players will need to be on their toes if they hope to beat souped-up versions of the Techrot and the Scaldra.
Here's everything you need to know about the introduction of the Temporal Archimedea game mode, including what it is, how you can start playing it and what rewards you'll be able to earn when it launches with the Techrot Encore update on March 19.

The Dante Unbound update heralded the most challenging game mode since The New War's raid boss-style Archon Hunts. The Sanctum Anatomica's Deep Archimedea (and Elite Deep Archemedea) are special three-mission gauntlets for a highly synergized team of four players to tackle.
Special enemy buffs, player debuffs and mission modifiers make each run of Deep Archimedea a novel experience, hooking Warframe vets as they grinded the mode for some of the game's best rewards. Now, the gauntlet is arriving to the streets of Hollvania as the new Nova protoframe, Kaya, becomes your point of contact for Temporal Archimedea missions in the Techrot Encore update.
While the full list of modifiers is yet to be revealed, we can be fairly certain that Temporal Archimedea will look quite different from Deep Archimedea.
The Sanctum Anatomica has special enemy types, including the Murmur, Necramechs, Culverins and Arcocanids, which means certain modifiers specifically alter only those enemies. For example, certain missions would have Culverins deal five times their normal damage numbers to players with Overguard shields, while other missions would have Arcocanid attacks pull player Warframes into their radius.
New modifiers will likely affect special enemies from the Hollvania tileset, including the Techrot Babau and the Scaldra Dedicant. These enemies are already a thorn in players' sides with their massive Overguard and high damage output, so it'll be interesting to see what kind of scary buffs they might get in Temporal Archimedea.
The new mode retains the core debuffs from Deep Archimedea. There are no self-revives for downed players, and the Operator Last Gasp ability timer is reduced by 2 seconds each time it's activated. Every time you enter the bleed-out state, your revive timer is shortened for the next time you go down. Each piece of restoration equipment carried in the equipment wheel has a 3-minute cooldown before it can be used again.
Temporal Archimedea shares the same pool of search pulses with Netracells and Deep Archimedea, consuming two search pulses for each run. Players gain five search pulses at the start of each week. After all the search pulses are used up, players can continue playing the Temporal Archimedea mode, but will no longer earn any rewards.
As Temporal Archimedea fills the role of the hardest game mode for Warframe 1999's Hollvania tileset, it carries appropriately valuable rewards for players who are able to complete the missions and accrue enough points each week.
The items carried over into the Temporal Archimedea reward pool include archon shards (both Tauforged and regular variants), arcanes and localized syndicate standing. Certain reward tiers also include Vosfor, which can be traded to Loid in the Sanctum Anatomica for random arcanes.
There's a new reward specific to Temporal Archimedea, though. Peely Pix are special stickers that provide buffs during Temporal Archimedea missions, and they can be bought and leveled up through a special Pix Chips currency earned within the game mode. Exchanging Pix Chips with Kaya in Hollvania mall will let players earn a wider variety of buffs or snatch up some extra endgame rewards.
This game mode is certain to become a mainstay in veteran Warframe players' weekly rotations, becoming a key part of the to-do list alongside Sorties, Archon Hunts and daily Alert missions.

Warframe is smoothing out its new player experience
A player's first steps into a new game can often be overwhelming, but that difficulty leaps exponentially when you're starting an MMO of 12 years. Warframe has expanded from a third-person action game to a hugely complex adventure with tons of side quests and bonus activities to explore, and now developer Digital Extremes is making changes to smooth the onboarding process for new players. The next major update (titled Yareli Prime) lands on May 21, followed by the long-awaited Isleweaver update in June. These will bring in much-needed quality of life features, including a new feature called Arsenal Categories. With more than 50 different Warframes, it can be hard to tell which suit is best suited (pun intended) for a given mission. Arsenal Categories divides Warframes into Damage, Crowd Control, Support, Survival, and Stealth so players can more readily identify types at a glance. Digital Extremes is quick to point out that every Warframe can handle every situation with the right build, however. The update isn't intended to shoehorn players into a specific style. Warframe In addition to Arsenal Categories, weapons will also be split into different categories that 'identify core characteristics shared between weapons.' There are primary, secondary, and melee categories that partition weapons into their main type, such as rifle, throwable, or scythe. Warframe offers so much content that it can feel overwhelming for new players, but these changes will make it easier to make those initial character choices about how you want to approach the game. When the Isleweave update arrives in June, Junctions — a type of solo mission that introduces players to new mechanics — will also receive QoL changes. Previously, selecting a Junction would launch the mission, but it now opens a screen that shows the player all possible rewards and required tasks. Players will also be able to receive rewards upon completing a Junction task, rather than at the end of the mission after defeating the boss. The team laid out an incredibly detailed Reddit post with everything you can look forward to in the next couple of months.

Elsbeth Just Dealt With A Shocking (Mostly) Exit, And I Can Honestly Say I Did Not See This One Coming
When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. BIG spoilers for Elsbeth Season 2, Episode 19 – 'I've Got A Little List' – are ahead! Read with caution, and get caught up on the show with a Paramount+ subscription. To me, Elsbeth has always centered around Carrie Preston's titular character and her work with Kaya and Wagner. However, now, in a shocking turn of events, that's all about to change. In the latest episode to air on the 2025 TV schedule, it was revealed that Carra Patterson's Kaya had been given an opportunity to join a task force that would take her away from the precinct where Elsbeth works. That means we'll be seeing less of her as the actress steps away from her series regular standing and becomes a guest star. In Episode 19 of Season 2, it's revealed that Kaya has been offered a job on a task force, which means we won't see her around the precinct as much in Season 3. This comes after her promotion to detective earlier this season, and it is nice to see her rising through the ranks. However, it also means we'll be seeing less of her. Speaking about her character's exit, showrunner Jonathan Tolins told Deadline: Kaya just turned out to be this wonderful partner for Elsbeth, and that relationship was one that we all love so much, and we love Carra. We're excited that the character got her promotion and achieved that dream. She's not leaving the world of the show. She's just not going to be with us every day. I don't want to make too much of the change. Thankfully, Carra Patterson's character isn't gone for good. Like other detectives on Elsbeth, she will guest star from time to time, likely to work on a case that Elsbeth is also on. However, it does mean she won't be involved in every episode next season, which is a bummer. Kaya and Elsbeth's friendship is one of my favorite elements of this show. After Elsbeth got renewed for Season 3 and Kaya got promoted to detective, I had assumed the next season would address how their relationship evolved as Patterson's character found her footing in her new role. So, this development that she's leaving did come as a huge shock. However, Tolins made it clear that Kaya is 'irreplaceable,' and while she won't be around as much, she won't necessarily be replaced. He explained: We have developed this habit of introducing new characters as we go and using them in a way that feels organic. I have no intention of forcing someone into the slot that was Kaya's place on the show. We're going to go with the flow and see what happens and try some things. The wonderful thing is that Carrie Preston is wonderful with everybody. This is not going to be like a Darren Stevens situation. Kaya is irreplaceable. She's not gone; she's still part of our world. So we're going to see what happens. Paramount Plus: from $7.99 a month/$79.99 a yearYou can watch CBS staples like Ghosts and Elsbeth on Paramount+ alongside old hits like The Good Wife. With a subscription, which starts at $7.99, you can also get access to Taylor Sheridan's shows and live sporting events. If you upgrade to Premium, you can get Showtime and no ads for $12.99 per month. View Deal In this latest episode, we did see b's Officer Reynolds return, and we know Ethan Slater, who plays Officer Chandler, is part of the stacked guest star list for the Season 2 finale. My guess is we'll continue to see them – and maybe other officers – in Season 3, and then Patterson's Kaya will be placed firmly in the rotation of detectives Elsbeth gets paired with throughout the season. Overall, I do think this move makes sense for the story. Kaya is driven and ambitious, and she'd been working toward a promotion for a while, so it's nice to see her get the job and assignments she deserves. However, her not being by Elsbeth's side every week is a hard pill to swallow. However, thankfully, as I said, Carra Patterson's character isn't totally gone and will show up again; we're simply saying 'see you later.'
