Electricity distribution project in Kota Kinabalu completed, says Fadillah
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, who is also the Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation, said the RM22.4mil project is the second project under the Sabah Electricity Supply Special Project Team (PPKBES) to be completed this year.
According to him, the project aims to balance the load at the main electricity station in Kota Kinabalu, which involves the Main Input Substations (PMU) at Penampang and Kepayan, and the KKIA Main Distribution Substation (PPU).
"With the completion of this project, the duration of electricity supply disruptions can be reduced and the process of repairing electricity supply around Kota Kinabalu city will be faster and more orderly," he said in a post on Facebook on Saturday (May 17).
Fadillah also expressed his appreciation to all parties involved in making the project a success. – Bernama

He was speaking at the 2025 JPS Senior Managers and District Engineers Conference here yesterday, which was also attended by Kelantan Mentri Besar Datuk Mohd Nassuruddin Daud. Fadillah, who is also Energy Transition and Water Transformation Minister, said efficient and sustainable water resource management remains one of the main focuses of the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP), especially as issues of clean water supply security and changing rainfall patterns due to climate change become increasingly critical. Under Thrust A7 – Strengthening Flood Mitigation and Adaptation – the government emphasises implementing more comprehensive, integrated and innovative strategies to increase the nation's resilience to increasingly complex and high-impact flood disasters. 'As the main technical agency in managing national water resources, Petra hopes JPS will continue to lead in ensuring integrated, sustainable and resilient water resource management in Malaysia. 'JPS is also expected to strengthen its role as a facilitator of the national water policy at the state and district levels so that there are no gaps in planning and implementing water-related projects,' Fadillah added.

Air Kelantan to settle RM61 million electricity arrears to TNB in stages
KOTA BARU: The Kelantan government has acknowledged that Air Kelantan Sdn Bhd (Air Kelantan) owes Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) RM61 million in outstanding electricity bills and will settle the amount in stages. State Infrastructure, Water and Rural Development Committee chairman Datuk Dr Izani Husin said the arrears were partly due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the Movement Control Order, which hindered bill collection, coupled with some residents withholding payment during frequent water supply disruptions. "TNB has met with us to discuss possible solutions, but no agreement has been finalised. "We will discuss further to determine a repayment schedule. With Air Kelantan's improved management, we are confident the debt will be cleared according to the agreed timeline," he told reporters after the weekly state executive council meeting at Kompleks Kota Darulnaim today. He added that Air Kelantan had previously settled older electricity arrears according to schedule, but several districts were found to still have outstanding amounts. Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister and Energy Transition and Water Transformation Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof revealed that Air Kelantan's arrears with TNB had reached about RM61 million as of June 30.
