Municipal dept. prepares action plan to improve citizen satisfaction in urban bodies of A.P.
The action plan is part of the Positive People Perception Tracking (PPT) framework, operational under the State's Real Time Governance System (RTGS), and it utilises Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS) technology to collect real-time citizen feedback on urban services, said MA&UD Principal Secretary S. Suresh Kumar, in a statement released to the media.
The department has set targets for 17 urban local bodies and 77 municipalities in the State, with regard to door-to-door garbage collection, garbage dump clearance and drain de-silting. While for the corporations, the target for garbage collection is 80% or more, garbage dump clearance is 75% or more and de-silting is 75% or more. For the municipalities, the targets for the same are 70%, 70% and 80% respectively on the three indices.
For the remaining Nagara Panchayats, IVRS feedback collection will commence from September, Mr. Suresh Kumar said.
To meet these targets, the Municipal Commissioners in urban local bodies have been directed to initiate comprehensive measures, in conjunction with field inspections and close supervision by municipal functionaries.
Explaining the targets, the Principal Secretary said the Commissioners should ensure 100% daily coverage across all households and establishments, launch awareness campaigns encouraging residents to cooperate with the sanitation staff, enforce fixed route plans and timings for public health workers, clear reported dumps within 24 hours of identification, and install 'Cleaned Within 24 Hours' boards, among others.
While the above mentioned directions were given with regard to garbage collection and clearance, the department has issued a slew of directions to the Commissioners to keep surface drains clean and obstruction-free, priority being given to flood-prone and high-density zones.
Some of the important directions include ensuring workers are equipped with safety gear and tools, completion of monsoon preparedness in advance, ensuring full compliance with the Prohibition of Employment as Manual Scavengers and their Rehabilitation Act, 2013 during sewer and septic tank maintenance and resolution of all drain-related grievances within 24 hours of the registration of complaints.
Mr. Suresh Kumar said any lapse will be viewed seriously and that a State-level monitoring mechanism is in place to track performance and enforce accountability.

VRMCHS turned centre for power politics: Parvathareddy
Nellore: YSRCP Nellore district working president and MLC Parvathareddy Chandrasekhar Reddy has alleged that MA&UD Minister P Narayana had vested interests in converting the name of the old educational institution – Venkatagiri Raja High School – as VR Municipal Corporation High School (VRMCHS). Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, the MLC pointed out that the conversion of name of the school was against the norms with the official machinery turning at the behest of the Minister. He recalled that court has appointed Joint Collector as Special Officer by confining his power to look after the salaries of employees and protection of institution. But the JC had transferred the Rs 1,000 crore worth properties of VR High School to Nellore Municipal Corporation against court guidelines, he criticised, adding that such move will lead to misuse of VRHS properties in the mask of power by the ruling party leaders. The MLC has pointed out that instead of providing seats to the real poor children in the VRMCHS, 90 per cent of the seats against the total 1,063 seats, were given to the people recommended by 264 TDP leaders and students pursuing studies in corporate schools like Sri Chaitnya (32), Ratnam (28) Narayana (28), and 418 students studying in various municipal schools in the city. He also pointed out that against the requirement of 80 teaching staff in VRMCHS, the government has deployed six teachers on deputation and five cluster in-charges and 26 Second Grade Teachers (SGTs). He alleged that instead of purchasing new buses for VRMCHS, buses were hired from Narayana Educational Institutions for Rs 1.2 lakh on monthly rental basis. The MLC questioned, why the coalition government has provided seats based on the recommendations of party leaders, if it is keen on promoting corporate education to the poor.

4k houses for staff by March 2026: Minister P Narayana
VIJAYAWADA: Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MAUD) Minister P Narayana reaffirmed the government's commitment to completing the construction of Amaravati, stating that all works will be finished within three years despite political conspiracies aimed at stalling progress. He inspected several ongoing projects on Tuesday, including the Sakhamuru Reservoir, Kondaveeti Vagu, Gravity Canal, and Anantavaram Park. Speaking to the media, Narayana emphasised that the construction of 4,000 houses for officials and employees will be completed by March 2026, while roads and drainage works are nearing completion. The minister added that the Dutch authorities have designed flood-prevention canals covering a total of 47.94 km, while reservoirs at Sakhamuru, Krishnayapalem, and Neerukonda are under development to store up to 0.53 TMC of water collectively. The government is expediting these projects to finish canal works by late 2026, ahead of the original October 2027 deadline. 'IIT experts are finalising the layout road designs, which are expected by the end of August,' he said. He noted that annuity for 25,000 farmers has largely been cleared, with 900 cases pending due to incorrect bank details, land sales, or other issues. A special review is underway to resolve these cases. Highlighting international cooperation, Narayana said Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu's recent visit to Singapore had restored ties with the government and industry leaders there. Singapore's National Parks Authority has assured support for Amaravati's blue-green capital vision and riverfront development. ADC Chairperson Lakshmi Parthasarathy and other CRDA officials were present.

Amaravati works on fast track: Narayana sets 3-year deadline
Amaravati: Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development P Narayana on Tuesday said that all construction work in Amaravati was progressing rapidly. He stated that despite 'conspiracies' from various quarters, the capital city would be completed within three years. After inspecting construction sites, including the Sakhamuru Reservoir, Kondaveeti Vagu, and Anantavaram Park, the minister addressed the media. He challenged critics who claimed no work was happening, to visit the sites themselves. 'Tenders for government buildings in Amaravati were finalised and work began between 2014 and 2019,' Narayana said. 'The previous government's 'three capitals game' completely ruined this progress. They created confusion about the location of the capital and troubled farmers.' The minister explained that the new government closed old tenders, settled financial issues, and was moving forward after an IIT expert review of existing structures. 'All construction work has restarted. We will complete 4,000 residential units for officials and employees by the end of March next year,' he announced. The minister added that road and drainage work was nearing completion, and IIT experts would finalize the designs for layout roads by the end of this month. To prevent flooding, canal designs were prepared with the help of Dutch officials. The work includes widening and deepening the Kondaveeti Vagu (23.6 km), Palavagu (16.5 km), and a gravity canal (7.843 km), for a total of 47.94 km of canals, he said. While recent rains have slightly slowed progress on the canals, Narayana stated that these projects, initially targeted for completion by October 2027, are now expected to be finished by the end of next year. The minister addressed pending issues with farmers' lease payments. He said that while funds have been credited to most of the 25,000 farmers, payments for approximately 900 farmers are on hold due to various reasons, such as incorrect bank account details, deaths, or land sales. He said that these cases are being reviewed and encouraged farmers to file complaints on the official website if they have not received their payments. Narayana also touched upon Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu's recent visit to Singapore. He mentioned that the previous government's actions had damaged relations with Singapore.
