Alison Hammond admits her TV career 'could end tomorrow' in candid interview
This Morning presenter Alison Hammond has been a staple on TV screens since she first appeared on Big Brother back in 2002 but she has admitted that her career 'could end tomorrow'
Alison Hammond, beloved by ITV watchers for her vibrant co-hosting on This Morning's Friday shows with Dermot O'Leary, has truly made a name for herself since her 2002 Big Brother stint.
Prior to her TV success for years Alison worked as a tour rep following in the footsteps of her mother, who was a hard-working, no-nonsense travel agent. She says she owes her success down to 'being unapologetically me" and her mother. Asked about her biggest influence, she said: "Without a doubt, my mum. She taught me to laugh loud, love big and always be myself. And look where that's got me - This Morning, Bake Off, three books, working with Maybelline..."
From her beginnings informing viewers of the latest competitions on ITV, she seamlessly transitioned to joining the presenting team in 2021, stepping into the shoes previously filled by Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford. Alison has graced our screens in various capacities, including dancing on Strictly Come Dancing and even teaming up with Noel Fielding for hosting duties on The Great British Bake Off.
Alison earned a huge sum last year, making around £35,000 per week after landing a series of lucrative deals. Host Alison also has money spinning jobs like being the voice of Wren Kitchens which brings in thousands of pounds. The host also has a deal with online firm Very.
Despite her success, Alison remains grateful for her career in television, as she revealed to Radio Times with heartwarming candour: "I'm so happy! I'm in such a good place. I'm 50, I've done everything I needed to do in life, and now I'm just enjoying it!".
She continued candidly: "I've had hard times, and I know television is fickle, so tomorrow I could be out of work. This might not be for ever, so you've got to enjoy every single day, and it's not the end of the world if it ends. I could go get a job in Tesco and be more than happy there as well", reports Birmingham Live.
This April, BBC audiences will get the chance to see Alison in a fresh light with her new programme, Alison Hammond's Big Weekend. Venturing into the personal spheres of familiar faces like Perrie Edwards, Spice Girl Mel B, and Sir Lenny Henry, the six-part series promises to offer an intimate look at the lives and backgrounds of these popular celebrities.
The synopsis reveals: "All six celebrities open themselves up to Alison, sharing personal revelations, fun times, and the occasional tear as they show Alison the people and places that have shaped them into the stars they are today. The show takes Alison across the UK as she asks the big questions viewers are dying to know - all in her unique and hilarious way that has made the star one of the country's most beloved TV personalities."
Ahead of the series premiere, Alison hinted at some emotional moments and plenty of laughs.
When quizzed about what viewers can anticipate, she responded: "Oh, babes, buckle up! Big Weekend is all about me getting celebs to have the juiciest, funniest, and sometimes most emotional chats. It's a full-blown experience! We're talking deep convos, belly laughs and spontaneous singalongs. From roller coasters with Mel B to ice baths with Jimmy Carr, this series is packed with surprises."

Wynne Evans returning to radio for ‘amazing community' who ‘supported me'
The 53-year-old announced he had been dropped from his BBC Radio Wales show in May after apologising for using 'inappropriate language' during the launch of the Strictly Come Dancing tour. The Welsh opera singer said he will present The Wynne Evans Show from next week, live every weekday from 9am to 12pm on the website Evans said of the show: 'This show is for my amazing community – The Wynners – who've supported me through thick and thin. 'After so many messages and calls asking me to come back, I knew I had to do something special. 'This show is my way of giving back – a space where we can come together every morning, share a laugh, play the music we love, and just be ourselves. It's more than a show – it's a proper family.' The programme will be a mix of music, chat and guests hosted by the singer, who is best known for his appearances on the insurance adverts. Earlier this year, he apologised for language that he called 'inappropriate and unacceptable' after The Mail On Sunday reported that Evans was heard making a remark to a woman in a video filmed during the Strictly launch event. It is understood he was given a warning over the remark by tour producers. In January, he said: 'I've agreed with the BBC that I'll take some time out from my radio show and the Strictly Live tour, as well as my other public commitments, to prioritise my wellbeing. 'I am deeply sorry for the pain my inappropriate actions have caused, and plan to take this time for self-reflection. 'Apologies to those I won't get to see at the remaining performances and I'm grateful to my fellow tour gang for all the amazing support they have given me.' The singer, who won 2023's Celebrity MasterChef, told the Sun on Sunday earlier this month that the Strictly comment was not sexual or directed at one of the female cast but was a nickname for fellow contestant, EastEnders actor Jamie Borthwick. He told the paper: 'I didn't see the statement. 'Old spit-roast boy' was a nickname for Jamie Borthwick. I'm not a bad guy, I'm not a misogynist, I'm not any of these things.' Evans added: 'And so I went: 'I'm so sorry', and that was taken as a formal apology, so the press team issued a statement. I didn't see it. 'When I read the apology within the context of the story as it had been written, I was absolutely horrified.' In May, Evans claimed in an interview with the newspaper that he had not seen the apology statement before it was issued, an assertion believed to have been dismissed by the BBC It is understood any statement issued on Evans' behalf by the BBC was fully approved by him, and the singer also posted his own statement on Instagram in which he apologised. During his time on Strictly, there was controversy over footage showing him placing his hand on his professional partner Katya Jones' waist, which she moved. They both apologised claiming it had been a 'joke'. The Wynne Evans Show will launch on June 16.

Emmerdale aired an unexpected twist for Vinny Dingle and his pal Kammy Hadiq on Friday night with a near kiss teasing one character's big new storyline on the ITV soap There was an unexpected scene for one Emmerdale duo on Friday night, as Vinny Dingle tried to kiss his friend Kammy Hadiq. The moment came as a shock to them both, with Vinny currently engaged to Gabby Thomas on the ITV soap. Vinny's sexuality isn't something that has been explored on the soap, but judging by his reaction he's set to be left confused by his moment with Kammy. Kammy didn't make much of a deal out of it but when he did mock the situation a flustered Vinny begged him to stay quiet. Fearing Gabby's reaction and seemingly trying to understand himself why he tried to kiss Kammy, the character was panicked and decided to act as if it did not happen. Vinny will now be torn over what's happened trying to understand his feelings and his sexuality, ahead of his wedding to fiancée Gabby. But Kammy actor Shebz Miah has told The Mirror that Vinny won't be alone on this "journey" ahead, as Kammy vows to support his pal. The actor teased their relationship would "progress" while Vinny seemingly keeps what happened between them. As Vinny's huge new storyline kicks off, we will see him turn to Kammy, while Shebz suggested that for now at least there was no romance planned for the pair. He explained: "Kammy's so relaxed with it and I think he's so comfortable with himself it's that, it doesn't affect him. The only thing that does affect him is like, 'you are getting married to Gabs, you need to understand the situation'. So Kammy isn't bothered about the kiss, he more feels for him because now it's opened up this different perspective on the relationship that Vinny has with people. "Kammy's trying to I guess, support him on his journey and trying to understand and make it easier for Vinny and help him and guide him as to what is going on because he is obviously in a position where he'd not entirely sure I guess." On what's ahead, the star went on: "We start to see this journey that they go on, Kammy and Vinny and all these factors Kammy does sort of bring up and as their relationship progresses. "We do talk about the elephant in the room. There's conversations had and Kammy and Vinny do try to address it in whatever way that is which we'll have to wait and find out I guess. "So yeah, Kammy's initial reaction, it's not about the kiss, it's more about the repercussions of everything else from this kiss." Shebz went on: "As we progress in the story, Kammy does address these different things and it does become an important talking point for the both of them but ultimately Kammy's objective is just to support him whatever that is with this journey that we go on." On Kammy not liking Vinny the way his pal possibly likes him, he said: "Kammy doesn't fancy him but they are very good friends. I think Kammy's built this relationship with him. "I think it's beautiful because Kammy and Vinny's dynamic is they're so different, even physically when you look at them they're very very different but Kammy does have a soft spot for him and he does really want to help him because he understand that from the kiss, it's a big thing so Kammy does really want to support him on this journey however that is. So yeah, they've got a genuine friendship but I think it's more that Kammy does want to help him out, he's obviously going through a lot from everything that's happening."

The 51-year-old broadcaster told his audience that Tess has let him get a lawnmower after he fixed their garden strimmer. It has led Vernon to wonder what other garden equipment he could invest in. Speaking on Radio 2, he said: "I managed to get the strimmer working again, so all this week I will be strimming the borders of the garden. Not yet purchased a lawnmower. "On Friday I finished the show by saying Strictly Come Dancing's Tess Daly's allowing me to get a lawnmower and I can't wait.
