Amazon Prime comes with loads of perks – and lots of ways to reduce your bills
Credit: Amazon
Usually an Amazon Prime subscriber would pay £8.99 a month here, which isn't a bad deal. (Amazon Prime for £8.99 a month – buy here)
As well as the free and speedy deliveries, you also get Prime Video telly, a Deliveroo Silver Plus membership, and no-cost video games each month.
But if you're forking out that monthly fee, you'll end up paying £107.88 a year – no small sum.
So it's worth taking a look at your situation to see if you can bring this right down.
ALL THE WAYS OF REDUCING AMAZON PRIME BILL
Option 1
One easy option is to just switch to annual billing if you can afford it.
That means you only pay £95 for a year of membership, versus the £107.88 you pay for monthly billing.
That saves you £12.88 a year, equivalent to about six weeks of membership.
Option 2
Another way to reduce your bill is to simply pay for Amazon Prime Video on its own.
You're throwing away money on Netflix – I found three common mistakes sending your bill soaring but the fixes are easy
You'll miss out on all of the other Amazon perks, but you get the TV, which is one of the best bits of membership.
For Prime Video, you'll just pay £5.99 a month – or £71.88 over the course of the year.
That's a saving of £36 annually versus paying for Amazon Prime every month.
Option 3
Now we're getting into the very cheap options.
Amazon has a special budget membership called Prime for Students and 18-22 Year Olds. (Amazon Prime Student – buy here)
It's a mouthful, but wasn't always.
It started life as a membership just for students in higher eduction – but last year expanded to anyone aged between 18 and 22.

Amazon Prime also includes Prime Video – but you can pay for the telly subscription on its own if you prefer

Needless to say, that includes millions of Brits. You might even have one at home, and they're your ticket to cheap Prime.
Students need to be at an institution in the UK or Ireland, ideally with an email linked to it.
If you're verifying simply by age then you'll need a valid passport or driving licence.
This will bring your Amazon Prime membership down to just £4.49 a month.
HOW TO ENROL IF YOU'RE A STUDENT WITH NO OFFICIAL EMAIL
Here's what you need to know...
If you don't have an official recognised email for your university or college, there's still hope.
You can send proof of age and enrolment to amazon-student-verification@amazon.co.uk.
Make sure that you're messaging from the email address linked to your Amazon UK account (and that the account has an up-to-date payment method).
And attach a scan, photo, or screenshot of either: A valid NUS Extra, NUS Apprentice Extra, TOTUM, TOTUM Student or TOTUM Apprentice card (must show your name, institution, and date of expiry). Please note that TOTUM Pro/Professional or UNiDAYS ID cards are not accepted.
A proof of student status letter (must be printed on official institution headed paper and include student name and address, course details and start date, expected graduation/completion date).
A tuition bill for the current term (must include institution name, course details and start date, student address).
A tuition invoice for the current term with your name and your institution's name on it.
An official acceptance letter for the upcoming term (must be printed on official institution headed paper and include student name and address, course details and enrollment date, expected graduation/completion date).
If you're eligible then you should get an email back in a few days to help you complete your sign-up.

That's half price, working out at a lowly £53.88 a year.
Option 4
Cheaper still is the annual version of this discounted Amazon Prime subscription.
If you're on this cheaper plan, you can pay a one-off fee of £47.49 for a full year of membership.
That's £60.39 less annually than paying for full Prime every month.
Option 5
Normally Amazon Prime includes a 30-day free trial.
But on the Prime for Students and 18-22 Year Olds plan, you can claim an extended six-month trial.

Prime Student is one of the cheapest ways to get Amazon Prime

That means in your first year, you're only paying for the final six months of membership.
So if you're paying monthly, you only end up paying £26.94 in that first 12-month period.
And if you pay annually, you would still have to pay £47.49, but you're technically only paying £23.75 for that first year – because the first six months were free.
These two options mean you're paying around a quarter of the full price for a monthly Amazon Prime membership.
BONUS: EASY MEMBERSHIP DISCOUNT
Want even cheaper Prime? There's a handy discount available...
If you're a Vodafone customer, you can bag three months of Prime for a quid.
Yes, it's one of the VeryMe Rewards, which you can access through Vodafone's app.
It gets you three months of full Amazon Prime membership for just £1.
That's a massive saving compared to the usual cost of Prime.
Of course, you'll be billed at the usual membership rate once the deal expires.
The deal is due to expire on February 28, 2026.

‘Brilliant' fan that keeps homes cool in the heatwave slashed from £150 to £40

With another heatwave imminent, now is the ideal time to get your hands on a fan to help bring the temperature down in your home, and Wowcher has just slashed one from £150 to £40 It seems us Brits are finally getting our long-awaited summer weather, with the temperatures set to soar above 30 degrees over the next few weeks. Whilst that's good news if you're planning on being outdoors or love the heat, it can also be a nightmare when it comes to keeping your home cool and comfortable. A fan is the go-to way for most of us to keep the heat at bay at home, and Wowcher just dropped a deal that's too good to miss. The 80W Black Oscillating Air Cooler Unit with Remote Control is currently available for £39, rather than its usual price of £149.99 – saving you a massive £110. As well as being a bargain price, the Air Cooler Unit is also the perfect handy addition to your home to help keep you cool and comfortable during the summer heatwave. It features three different speed settings and has an automatic oscillation, which ensures the cool air reaches every corner of your space. It also has one additional feature that most regular home fans don't – a water tank. This helps create extra cold air without drying out your environment, ensuring it acts more like air conditioning than a standard fan, and the large four litre capacity means it can operate for longer without needing a refill. According to Wowcher it also operates at a quiet level, so you can keep it running without disturbing your sleep or needing to constantly turn your TV or music up. It's sleek design also means it'll slot effortlessly into most home decors, and you can choose from either black or white colourways. The Air Cooler Unit currently only has one review on Amazon, with someone giving it a five star rating and writing: 'Nice compact and works brilliantly. A lot better than another brand I purchased last year for more than double the price.' As with anything bought on Wowcher you'll need to be quick to nab the fan at its current price, and there are additional postage and packing fees on top of it. However if you don't want to wait for it to arrive and need something quickly, Amazon Prime customers can get their cooling fans delivered with free next day delivery. The Midea SmartAir Fast Chill Tower with 5L Water Tank is currently on sale on Amazon down from £119.99 to £99.99 and functions in a similar way to Wowcher's air cooling unit. It features a five litre water tank, with three speeds and an oscillating feature. Featuring a facial serum, a cleansing soap and a night moisturiser, it's designed to both hydrate and cleanse your skin. The product includes Aloe Barbadensis leaf extract and sodium ascorbyl phosphate - which is said to 'brighten your complexion'. The Dr H set also contains extracts of green tea and tiare flower. However, shoppers won't be able to buy the set in-stores. Instead, customers will need to log onto Tesco's marketplace and order the product online. The set qualifies for free standard delivery, though faster options are available for an additional fee. The news comes after Tesco announced that it was considering axing a huge shopping feature in all of its stores. The supermarket said that it was planning to remove barcodes from its products, in a bid to make shopping easier for its customers. Barcodes would be replaced by QR codes, which are easier to scan and will enable shoppers to see additional information about the item. Tesco fans are set to love the latest items in stores for 25 per cent off when you use clubcard Around 20 per cent of Tesco's South Eastern stores will be included in the trial. Ahead of the trial, Isabela De Pedro, supply chain development and change director for Tesco, said: "It's certainly our intention to make sure the customers better understand the product. "You've got a real limit on the current packaging and there are so many regulatory things you have to put on there, that gets priority. "The QR opens up the door to do all of this stuff…to talk about origin, nutritionals, health, alternatives, locally sourced stuff."
