Borussia Dortmund's Niklas Süle (29) sidelined
Borussia Dortmund are already facing an injury crisis heading into the 2025/26 season which starts against Rot-Weiss Essen on August 18. After replacing Mats Hummels in the 17th minute in his farewell match before taking retirement, Niklas Süle was substituted shortly before half time against Juventus. As reported by Ruhr Nachrichten, Süle is facing several weeks of absence after sustaining a calf injury. The 29-year-old missed 18 games across all competitions for die Schwarzgelben with various injuries, and is again facing time out. Süle's absence could force BVB into the transfer market. Through the 2024-25 season, the Los Angeles Lakers have had a total of 506 players suit up for them, going back to their days in Minneapolis. Some were forgettable, some were serviceable, some were good and a select few were flat-out legendary. As the Lakers approach their 80th season of existence (they were founded back in 1946 as the Detroit Gems in the National Basketball League), LeBron Wire is taking a look at each player who has worn their jersey, whether it has been a purple and gold one or the ones they donned back in the Midwest during their early years. Here's a look at Jeff Lamp, a forward who played for the Lakers in the late 1980s. Lamp played four seasons at the University of Virginia, where he earned two first-team All-ACC nods and averaged 18.8 points a game. The Portland Trail Blazers took him with the No. 15 pick in the 1981 NBA Draft. In his first five pro seasons, Lamp was a decent bench player for the Trail Blazers, Milwaukee Bucks and San Antonio Spurs. The Lakers signed him as a free agent just prior to the start of the 1987-88 season. He was largely kept on the bench by Lakers coach Pat Riley, but he did earn himself a world championship ring in 1988 and a second trip to the NBA Finals in 1989. During those two years in L.A., Lamp averaged 1.6 points in 4.6 minutes a game during the regular season. The 1988-89 season happened to be his final one in the NBA. Chelsea's 3-0 win in the final of the Club World Cup against European champions Paris St-Germain was a statement that they are a force to be reckoned with.
