Tang Jie-Ee Wei exit Indonesian Open in semi-finals
Tang Jie and Ee Wei fought hard but struggled against the Thai duo, who won the Singapore Open last week, and lost 23-21, 15-21, 11-21 in 65 minutes at the Istora Senayan in Jakarta on Saturday (June 7).
This marks the world No. 4 pair's third defeat to world No. 6 Dechapol and Supissara in four meetings, following losses at the Japan Masters last November and Indonesian Masters in January.
Despite the defeat, it was Tang Jie and Ee Wei's best performance since reuniting in April after a brief split due to a strained relationship.

Marc Marquez seeks elusive first win in Austria
SPIELBERG, Austria: Runaway leader Marc Marquez was in ominous form as MotoGP returned from its month-long mid-season break, topping Friday practice in Austria. The Spaniard is coasting towards a seventh elite title, which would draw him level with Italian legend Valentino Rossi and one shy of all-time record-holder Giacomo Agostini. Despite turning up with five consecutive wins he knows he must do something this weekend that he has failed to achieve before in his storied career - win in Spielberg. "I've been super close many years in Austria," he said. "I lose always against red (Ducati) bikes but now I'm riding that red bike so let's see if we can fight for that victory" he added. Since joining Ducati's factory team at the start of the season, Marquez has been almost uncatchable - notching up his fifth straight perfect weekend of sprint and race victories in Brno last month. He goes into this 13th round of the 22-race campaign a massive 120 points clear of the pack led by his younger brother Alex of Ducati's satellite Gresini team. Alex is realistically destined for second behind his trailblazing brother. The younger Marquez is 48 points clear of Francesco Bagnaia on the other Ducati factory bike, who is seeking a fourth straight Spielberg win. Alex Marquez will have his work cut out because he must serve a long-lap penalty in Sunday's main race after wiping out Honda's Joan Mir in an accident last time at the Czech MotoGP. "A bigger challenge for us will be to do a perfect weekend to lose the minimum time on the long lap on Sunday," the 29-year-old said. "You know, trying to be on the front row; trying to make some ground before doing the long lap, all that. So it will be a little bit of strategy." Marc Marquez bossed practice, topping the first session by three-tenths of a second from Bagnaia, and by two-tenths from Pedro Acosta (KTM) in the afternoon run. Saturday's qualifying is followed by the 14-lap sprint with the main event 24 hours later. One rider forced to miss out on the weekend action and the next race in Hungary is Honda LCR' Somkiat Chantra. The Thai rider is recovering from surgery after sustaining ligament damage in his right knee in training after the Dutch MotoGP, which has already forced him out of races in Germany and Brno.

JDT to renew rivalry with Thai giants Buriram
KUALA LUMPUR: Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) are relishing the chance to reignite their rivalry with Thai heavyweights Buriram United in this season's AFC Champions League Elite (ACLE). The Southern Tigers will face Buriram, Melbourne City of Australia, Japan's Sanfrecce Hiroshima and China's Chengdu Rongcheng away, while hosting Shanghai Port and Shanghai Shenhua of China as well as Japan's Vissel Kobe and Machida Zelvia at the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium (SSI). Last season, Buriram ended JDT's campaign in the round of 16 with a 1-0 aggregate win at the SSI. JDT technical director Alistair Edwards admitted the draw is tough, but believes the team can make a greater impact this year. "The draw this year is equally as strong as last year and previous years. We had an extremely good campaign last year with massive sell-out crowds at the fortress SSI, so we're looking forward to more great games against top teams. "We're playing new opposition and also familiar ones, like Buriram, where we're continuing that rivalry with our friendly rivals from Thailand. I think we were a little hard done by not qualifying at home last time, and everyone understands that. "It doesn't sit well with us as a club because we think we are good enough to progress into the next stage. Buriram are always a great club and we enjoy playing against them, but now we've got to go to China and Japan as well." JDT will play eight matches — four home and four away — in the 12-team East Asia elite league format, with the top eight advancing to the round of 16. The 2025/2026 ACLE season will kick off in September and conclude in April next year. The round of 16 is scheduled for March 2-11, followed by a centralised finals stage in Saudi Arabia from April 17-25, 2026, covering the quarter-finals onwards. JDT have been Malaysia's sole representative in Asia's top club competition since 2019, but are still chasing their first quarter-final appearance. Meanwhile, in the ACL 2, it's set to be an all Asean contest for Selangor who are drawn in Group G with Bangkok United, Lion City Sailors of Singapore and Indonesia's Persib Bandung. The ACL2 group stage is scheduled from Sept 16 - Dec 24, before moving into the Round of 16 between Feb 10-19, 2026. The quarter-finals and semi-finals are set for March 3-12 and April 7-15 respectively, with the final being held on May 16, 2026.
