Achilles injuries are notoriously difficult to overcome albeit quite common in the modern day game, requiring a carefully managed rehabilitation process to ensure a full and lasting recovery.
Manchester City's medical and fitness teams have been closely supporting Kovacic's rehabilitation, blending physiotherapy with tailored strength and conditioning work throughout the course of the summer.
Although the club has added midfield reinforcements in the ongoing market in the form of Tijjani Reijnders and Rayan Cherki, Kovacic remains a key figure in Pep Guardiola's plans when fully fit, valued for his experience in the middle of the park.
Now, accompanied by an image and video showcasing some recovery work on a step machine, Manchester City midfielder Mateo Kovacic has issued a six-word update on his road to return for Pep Guardiola's side.

'Six weeks since surgery. One mission,' the Croatia international midfielder said on his Instagram channel this week, having already missed his side's FIFA Club World Cup venture in the United States earlier this summer.
Looking forward, Mateo Kovacic's recovery timeline will play a significant role in shaping Manchester City's season strategy, with the Premier League campaign getting underway against Wolves at Molineux on Saturday 16 August.
While no definitive return date has been given, the hope is for the midfielder to be back in action within the first few weeks of the campaign, providing Pep Guardiola with greater midfield options.
Despite Kovacic's injury, the club's transfer plans have not been impacted, thanks to the arrivals of Reijnders and Cherki, who offer additional depth and versatility. Still, Kovacic's eventual return will be a welcome development, adding quality and experience to the squad.
Manchester City and Croatia fans will be keenly following Mateo Kovacic's rehabilitation progress, eager to see the influential midfielder back in the heart of Pep Guardiola's midfield.

Olympics-US Olympic & Paralympic Committee bars transgender women from competing in women's sports

(Reuters) -The United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee (USOPC) has updated its policy to align with an executive order signed earlier this year by U.S. President Donald Trump barring transgender women from competing in women's sports. "The USOPC will continue to collaborate with various stakeholders with oversight responsibilities, e.g., IOC, IPC, NGBs, to ensure that women have a fair and safe competition environment consistent with Executive Order 14201 and the Ted Stevens Olympic & Amateur Sports Act," the USOPC said in an update to its Athlete Safety Policy. The USOPC did not respond to a request for comment on the change. USOPC President Gene Sykes and CEO Sarah Hirshland referenced Trump's executive order in a memo to the Team USA community sent out this week, ABC News reported, which said, "As a federally chartered organization, we have an obligation to comply with federal expectations." Trump signed the "Keeping Men Out of Women's Sports" order in February in a bid to exclude transgender girls and women from female sports, a directive that supporters said will restore fairness but critics argue it infringes on the rights of a tiny minority of athletes. The order directs the Department of Justice to make sure all government agencies enforce a ban on transgender girls and women from participating in female school sports under Trump's interpretation of Title IX, a law against sex discrimination in education. Trump's order goes beyond high school and college sports, calling for the U.S. government to deny visas for transgender females seeking to compete in the United States. Trump also said he would not allow transgender athletes to compete in the Los Angeles Olympics in 2028. The executive order instructed the State Department to pressure the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to change its policy, which allows trans athletes to compete under general guidance preventing any athlete from gaining an unfair advantage. The order is expected to affect only a small number of athletes. The president of the National Collegiate Athletics Association told a Senate panel in December he was aware of fewer than 10 transgender athletes among the 530,000 competing at 1,100 member schools.

Bayer Leverkusen Closing In On 19-Year-old Manchester City Player: What Does This Mean For Pep Guardiola's Side?

Farid Alfa-Ruprecht had long been waiting for his chance. Since his days at ESV Einigkeit Wilhelmsburg, where he began to show pure talent, his path has taken him through clubs such as Hamburger SV and later Manchester City's youth academy. At the age of 19, the German winger seems determined to take a firm step forward in his career. At Manchester City, he never managed to leap to the first team, despite his good performances at the youth level. Now, the Bundesliga opens an interesting door for him to continue to grow and prove that he is ready to compete at the highest level. According to Florian Plettenberg, a German journalist renowned for his transfer news, Bayer Leverkusen and Manchester City reached an agreement to close the transfer of Alfa-Ruprecht for €1.3 million. The deal includes a five-season contract with the Leverkusen outfit and leaves open the possibility of an immediate loan move following a medical, which is expected next week. Fabrizio Romano, meanwhile, added that the English side will keep 40 per cent of a future sale, a sign that they are confident the youngster can be revalued. All the signs are that we will soon see the youngster from Hamburg wearing the shirt of Die Werkself. What Does This Mean For Pep Guardiola's Side? For City, this deal means several things. Pep Guardiola has a squad full of established wingers and could not find a place for Alfa-Ruprecht. Releasing a player who was not getting any playing time clears the youth system and sends a clear message to other youngsters: if you want a place, you have to meet very high standards. Moreover, the club are not closing the door on the possibility of making a profit in the future if the player explodes in Germany. That 40 per cent clause indicates that the Etihad Stadium still believes that his talent can flourish. Leverkusen are looking for an attacking, fast player with a hunger to prove himself. But in the short term, he could go out on loan to gain experience. It is understood that they do not want to repeat past mistakes with talents that fade without continuity. For Guardiola, the attacking panorama does not change much, as his attack is still covered with big names. But the message is clear: City are thinking about the present and capitalising on young players without slowing down their progress. We will see if Alfa-Ruprecht turns this departure into a triumphant return, perhaps to England, with more experience and experience. Time will tell whether it was a successful loan or an early sale. For the youngster, it is the chance to prove that the talent he hinted at in Wilhelmsburg and polished in Manchester deserves to shine every weekend under the Bundesliga spotlight. Meanwhile,
