IND vs ENG 4th Test: Shubman Gill out lbw for just 12; stat reveals India captain's weakness
India got off to a solid start in the 4th Test at Manchester, with openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul putting up a strong show as India reached 78/0 at lunch after losing the toss. However, the tide turned in the second session with the early dismissal of KL Rahul.
Yashasvi Jaiswal, who had brought up his half-century, followed soon after, leaving
Shubman Gill
and Sai Sudharsan at the crease.
India suffered another blow when captain Shubman Gill fell LBW while attempting to leave a delivery from England skipper Ben Stokes. Gill's lean patch with the bat continued after scores of 16 and 6 in the 3rd Test.
Stokes' sharp appeal was upheld on-field and remained so after a failed review, with replays confirming the ball was crashing into the off stump.
Following his dismissal, a striking statistic came to light — this was the fourth time Gill had been dismissed while trying to leave the ball, including three against pace and one against spin. Only Australia's Cameron Green has been out in that manner more often in Tests since the captain's debut.

How confident are you in India's ability to recover from the recent batting setback?

It also marked the first time Ben Stokes had dismissed Gill in seven Test innings.
With Gill's early exit, the onus shifted to Sai Sudharsan and Rishabh Pant to guide India to a strong first-innings total .With England's bowlers exploiting the Old Trafford conditions, India will need their skipper to bounce back strongly in the second innings to silence the critics.

Alex Ovechkin reflects on breaking Wayne Gretzky's goal record, says the moment hasn't fully sunk in yet
Alex Ovechkin isn't quite ready to look back breaking Wayne Gretzky's all-time NHL goals record (Image via Katie Adler/RMNB) While Alex Ovechkin recently eclipsed Wayne Gretzky's all-time NHL goals record, he's not dwelling on the monumental achievement. The 39-year-old hockey icon, who now has 895 career goals, is singularly focused on the present. He's saving the emotional reflection for when he retires, with one more season remaining on his current contract with the Washington Capitals. Alex Ovechkin reflects on surpassing Wayne Gretzky's record Alex Ovechkin, the celebrated 39-year-old hockey star, hasn't fully clutched the significance of breaking the NHL's all-time goals record. He remains focused on the present, phrasing, "The realization of the record will come when I finish my career." For him, reflection is a luxury for the future; for now, his singular focus is on the games ahead, not the milestones behind him. Even after his record-breaking achievement, Ovechkin remains focused on his active career, articulating, "Mine is still going on." He credited his incredible support system, acknowledging, "I understand that thanks to my family, father, mother, wife, friends, team, I did it." His journey is a testament to both his skill and the resolute support of those around him. The profound emotional significance of the record-breaking moment has yet to fully land for Ovechkin, who noted, "I will cry later." When pressed about his future with the Capitals as his current contract approaches its end, he was evasive, stating, "A year will pass, and we will think about it." This forward-looking perspective underscores his dedication to the present, not past victories. Remaining noncommittal about his future, Ovechkin articulated, "We will live and see." His career approach remains consistent: he takes things one game and one shift at a time. This mentality, which helped him pursue the record, continues to guide him today, focusing his attention on the present moment rather than the future.
