
Two teenagers killed after collision between motorbike and car in Salford
Two teenagers have died after a motorbike collided with a car in Salford.
It happened on Lower Broughton Road around 8:20pm on Thursday 22 May.
Emergency services were called, but the 16-year-old and 17-year-old boys both died later in hospital. The driver of the car, a 24-year-old woman, stayed at the scene to assist officers, and no arrests have been made.
Greater Manchester Police's Serious Collision Investigation Unit are investigating the circumstances of the crash. In a statement released on Friday, they said: "This is a heart-breaking and upsetting incident where two young men have sadly lost their lives"
The families of both victims are being supported by specialist officers.
Detective Sergeant Matt Waggett, of our Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: 'Our thoughts are with their families. Our investigation continues so we can give them the answers they deserve.
'We are looking for anyone who has any information regarding the incident to come forward and get in touch with us.'

A 16-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of theft and public order, before a man in his 30s was detained on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly and possession of Class A drugs. Two men aged 18 and 19 have been arrested on suspicion of possession of a bladed article. The 16-year-old girl – who cannot be named for legal reasons – has been charged with assaulting an emergency worker and has been bailed to appear at court at a future date after being arrested earlier on Wednesday. Superintendent Marcus Noden, of Greater Manchester Police, said: 'I wanted to provide a further update into the disorder in Salford this afternoon, I would like to stress that there have been no further incidents since our last update. 'We have robust plans in place should any further incidents arise in the area, and we will take action like we did earlier on in the day, should we need to. 'A dispersal order remains in place in Salford until 2pm tomorrow afternoon (Thursday June 12 2025) and anyone who does not abide by the law, will be dealt with.'

A 16-year-old girl has been arrested on suspicion of assaulting a police officer after riot police tackled 'serious disorder' in Greater Manchester. There were reports of cars being set alight and bricks being thrown during the disturbance in Salford. Around 60 youths gathered on Lower Broughton Road at about 1.30pm on Wednesday, using cars and wheelie bins to block off the road. There were reports of vehicles being stolen, damaged and burnt out, motorbikes being used and bricks thrown at officers, Greater Manchester Police said.

Riots have reportedly erupted in Salford after a gang of youths set a vehicle on fire and assaulted a police officer. Around 50 to 60 teenagers have been spotted 'hanging round' Lower Broughton Road where several cars have reportedly been damaged. Pictures from the scene show one car was set on fire, while a police vehicle has also been damaged, according to Manchester Evening News. Greater Manchester Police said in a statement: 'Officers are currently dealing with serious disorder on Lower Broughton Road in Salford and there is a dispersal order in place. 'Behaviour of this nature will not be tolerated and we will respond accordingly. 'We have made an arrest on suspicion of assaulting a police officer and one of our vehicles has been damaged.'
