National Eisteddfod proclamation 2026 in Narberth: Pictures
Schools, community groups, local associations, and Gorsedd Cymru all made an appearance as the organisers extended a warm welcome to both large and small groups, creating a vibrant and inclusive procession.
Narberth County Councillor Mark Tierney posted: 'One of the biggest parades through Narberth in a long time and we provided the warmest of welcomes to visitors from near and far for the @eisteddfod proclamation procession.'

The procession marks the preparations for the National Eisteddfod to take place in 2026 in north Pembrokeshire.
Parking for the event was available at a primary school car park, allowing locals to experience the colourful and welcoming festival which was portrayed by the procession.
The event was a celebration of Welsh culture. (Image: Gareth Davies Photography) During the proclamation, a list of the 2026 Eisteddfod competitions were announced and information was provided for prospective competitors.

MS for Delyn Roedd hi'n wych bod yn yr Eisteddfod yn Wrecsam yr wythnos diwethaf – it was great to be at the Eisteddfod in Wrexham last week. The Eisteddfod is the largest cultural festival in Europe and this year it was held close to home in Wrexham – it's a celebration of everything that's great about being Welsh and it gave me the chance to use my Welsh language as much as possible! Last week it was good to join Clwyd East MP Becky Gittins and talk to constituents about bus travel and a range of topics at Mold market, then later on in the afternoon I headed to Gwernaffield to deliver a summer update and let residents know about one of my upcoming street surgeries – a great way for me to reach out regularly to communities across the constituency to talk about the issues that they care about. Regular readers will know that I'm a big fan of reading and we have some great bookshops in our corner of North East Wales, especially my local one Mold Bookshop which I visit regularly. Our area also has plenty of libraries which provide not only books but help to support our communities in a range of different ways – during the summer holidays, Flintshire libraries are taking part in a programme designed to engage children in reading across the school holidays called the Summer Reading Challenge. This year, the theme is 'Story Garden', where magical creatures, wild tales and the wonders of nature come to life. To complete the Summer Reading Challenge, children are asked to read at least six books, choosing from stories, graphic novels, non-fiction books or audio books. Finally, I'd like to congratulate all the riders who cycled from Paris to Geneva to raise funds to help Palestine recently – the whopping 350 miles were covered in just over four days to raise money for Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP) and so far the team has raised £175,000 and are now aiming for £200,000. Every penny supports MAP's vital, lifesaving work on the ground in Gaza, the West Bank and Lebanon and the organisation was among the first to respond to the emergency in October 2023 and remains one of the last INGOs on the ground. Alter Bridge announce Blackbird Festival at Cardiff Castle
Alter Bridge will headline the first-ever Blackbird Festival at Cardiff Castle on Saturday, June 27, 2026, marking their first performance in Wales in more than seven years. Myles Kennedy, vocalist and guitarist for Alter Bridge, said: "We realised we haven't played Wales in over seven years. "To make up for lost time, we thought it would be cool to do something extra special. "So with that said, we are stoked to announce the Blackbird Festival. The festival is Alter Bridge's first Welsh appearance in more than seven years (Image: Supplied) "Not only does this commemorate 20-plus years of being a band, but it's also a way to show our appreciation for the fans in Wales who've patiently waited for our return." Police give injury update after Coney Beach park ride leaves tracks South Wales Police issued an update and also confirmed the attraction will remain closed on Thursday Owners and emergency services responded quickly to the incident (Image: Kieran Roche) Police have issued an update on injuries after an accident at a Welsh seaside funfair. Onlookers described hearing screams of horror as the Wacky Worm ride derailed at Coney Beach Amusement Park in Porthcawl shortly before 6pm on Wednesday. The attraction was subsequently closed by police as part of a large emergency services response. A spokesman for South Wales Police said on Wednesday night: "Officers were called to Coney Beach Amusement Park, Porthcawl, Bridgend, at around 5.50pm this evening following an accident involving one of the rides. "At this time we have confirmed that 13 children and one adult have sustained minor injuries. "Some of these have required hospital treatment. "The amusement park will remain closed tomorrow while officers and health and safety personnel carry out their investigation. "Please continue to avoid the area to allow emergency services access." Coney Beach have since issued an official statement to their social media, which reads: 'Due to an incident on a third-party ride not owned by Coney Beach, we were instructed by the police to clear the site for further investigation. Article continues below 'We apologise for the disruption and will be providing refunds to affected guests as soon as possible. We will be releasing instructions on refunds shortly. 'We thank you for your cooperation.'
