Inspirational burns survivor Turia Pitt reveals new career move after being forced to change her life as she was 'pushing her own needs aside'
The Aussie athlete, who was tragically caught in a grassfire while competing in a 100km ultra-marathon in 2011, has released her latest project titled Selfish, which examines 'how to unlearn the rules that are breaking you'.
Taking to Instagram on Wednesday, the 37-year-old revealed that she thought the word 'selfish' was in need of a rebrand, encouraging people to empower themselves and take the right measures to avoid burnout.
'We're told that being selfish is bad. That we should always think of others, put everyone else first, push our own needs aside,' she wrote in the post's caption.
'I bought into that story. And it led me straight to burnout. This is the book I wish I had during that time.'

She went on to say that she wrote the book for people who have ever felt 'stretched too thin, lost, or like you're living by someone else's rules.'
Selfish, which is Turia's fifth book, is set to hit shelves in October but can be pre-ordered now.
In 2023, it was revealed that the much-anticipated movie about Pitt starring Home and Away actress Tammin Sursok had stalled.
In 2019, Tammin announced she was set to play the courageous athlete who sustained horrific burn injuries to 64 percent of her body in a wildfire 14 years ago.
But Turia told The Daily Telegraph that further talks with the US-based actress had been put off.
'That was on the cards but not at the moment,' the mother of two said of the proposed biopic.
She added: 'It is not something that is at the top of my priority list. Every day, I am not like, ''let's try and get this movie made''. I am not doing that at all.'
'Whether or not a film gets made, I don't really think it is in my control.
'I think I would be (involved),' she said. 'That would be really weird if someone made a movie and I just saw it on the TV. That would be quite strange.'
In 2011, Turia survived against the odds after getting caught in a wildfire while competing in an ultramarathon in Western Australia.
The Celebrity Apprentice star was left with horrific burns and later became a motivational speaker.
In 2023, she opened up about the aftermath of the tragedy 11 years on, and said she 'wanted to die' during the early stages of her hospitalisation.
Fortunately, Turia found the will to live and she went on to become a successful motivational speaker who has shared her story with thousands of people.
Meanwhile, Sursok is best known to viewers for her role as the character of Dani Sutherland in Home in Away.
The South African-born Australian star appeared in the iconic soap from 2000 to 2004.

Katy Perry celebrates major career milestone as ex Orlando Bloom reveals his loneliness after split
Katy Perry had a reason to smile Thursday—just days after she was seen in tears onstage following her shocking split from Orlando Bloom. The pop superstar, 40, has been riding an emotional rollercoaster lately, breaking down mid-performance during the final show of her Lifetimes tour in Australia on Tuesday as she struggled to hold back tears in front of a packed crowd. Meanwhile, Orlando—who she called it quits with after nine years—has been putting on a bit of a different show. The actor shared a cryptic Instagram post about 'loneliness and darkness' even as he partied his way through Europe, including a wild weekend celebrating Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez's lavish wedding and a star-studded yacht bash in Rome. But the tides seem to be turning for Katy. On Thursday, she hit a major career high: her 2010 anthem Teenage Dream officially hit 1 BILLION streams on Spotify—marking her 10th song to cross the milestone. On Thursday, she hit a major career high: her 2010 anthem Teenage Dream officially hit 1 BILLION streams on Spotify—marking her 10th song to cross the milestone Teenage Dream, released as the second single from her 2010 album of the same name, became a cultural phenomenon. It hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, making Perry the first woman in history to score five No. 1 singles from one album. The track was produced by Max Martin, Benny Blanco and Dr. Luke. Katy's long-time producer Dr. Luke has been at the center of controversy since 2014, when pop star Kesha accused him of emotional abuse and sexual assault in a high-profile legal battle that sparked widespread industry backlash. While Dr. Luke denied all allegations and was not criminally charged, he filed a defamation suit. The long-running defamation lawsuit between Kesha and Dr. Luke was settled In June 2023. Both parties announced they had reached a resolution and agreed to a joint statement, effectively ending the legal battle. Last week, it was revealed that Orlando and Katy officially called it quits after dating for nine years. Bloom's disheartening post was shared on Thursday At the time, a source told Us Weekly: 'Katy and Orlando have split but are amicable,' while also adding that the separation has been 'not contentious' thus far. 'Katy is of course upset but is relieved to not have to go through another divorce, as that was the worst time in her life.' The Teenage Dream hitmaker - who is currently embarking on her Lifetimes Tour - was previously married to Russell Brand from 2010 until their divorce in 2012. The insider further added that the reported breakup had been 'a long time coming' and that their relationship had also been 'tense for months.' In the wake of the separation, Bloom whisked himself away to Venice to attend the star-studded nuptials between Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez this past weekend. The actor was spotted mingling with a number of celebrities, including Kim Kardashian and Sydney Sweeney. Fresh from three days partying at Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez's Venice wedding extravaganza, Orlando headed on board Ritz-Carlton's gleaming 794ft Luminara for its inaugural cruise from Rome. Bloom was also recently spotted cozying up to Leonardo DiCaprio's girlfriend, Vittoria Ceretti, during a water taxi ride as they headed to the airport following the Amazon founder's wedding this past weekend

It is understood the pair signed a pre-nuptial agreement before they tied in the knot in 2012 in a lavish £3million wedding. The source added: 'It's been a very painful time for Holly and she has told friends that the split was not on her terms. 'Given the circumstances it feels as if there could be some room to manoeuvre. 'Whatever the sum ends up being, it will be in the tens of millions of pounds.' Holly, whose 2002 debut album produced three Top Ten hits, was seen for the first time since the news of the split earlier this week. She was not wearing her engagement or wedding ring as she got off a flight landing at London's Heathrow.
