Bathinda: A heated social media exchange took place between between Iqbal Singh, brother of former Congress MLA from Dharamkot Sukhjit Singh Lohgarh, and AAP MLA Devinderjit Singh Ladi Dhos over the state govt's 'Yudh Nasheya Virudh' campaign.
Earlier, in a social media post, Iqbal asked Ladi Dhos to urge the chief minister and health minister to establish a high-powered committee tasked with conducting dope tests on the MLA and the coordinators of the anti-drug campaign in Dharamkot. He said the findings of such a committee would validate the anti-drug drive.
Responding to the challenge, Ladi Dhos announced via social media that he would visit Lohgarh village, which is home of the former Congress MLA on Sunday.
He invited Iqbal to bring a team of doctors of his choice to ensure transparency and eliminate any doubts regarding the dope test results.
As announced, the MLA reached Lohgarh village gurdwara on Sunday for his dope test, but no one was there from the other side.
Ladi Dhos then made fresh allegations against the former MLA and his brother. "I went for the dope test and waited for over two hours for others to come, but nobody reached to conduct the test as I asked them to come with a team of doctors for the test. It seems they only wanted to attract attention by putting up a fake challenge," the MLA said.

Cong highlights 'vote chori' with video, Kharge asks people to raise voice

The Congress on Wednesday stepped up its campaign against alleged 'vote chori' by releasing a new video depicting how fake votes were being cast and party chief Mallikarjun Kharge asking people to raise their voice and save constitutional institutions from the "clutches of the BJP". Former Congress president Rahul Gandhi also shared the minute-long video and said, "Aapke vote ki chori aapke adhikar ki chori, aapki pehchaan ki chori hai." Tagging the advertisement titled 'booth par vote chori", Congress president Kharge said, "Do not let your rights to vote be snatched away. Ask questions, demand answers this time! Raise your voice against vote chori." "Free constitutional institutions from the clutches of the BJP," he said in his message to the people on X. Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also shared the video on X, and said, "the theft of your vote is theft of your rights, theft of your identity." आपके वोट की चोरी… आपके अधिकार की चोरी, आपके पहचान की चोरी है! #VoteChori — Rahul Gandhi (@RahulGandhi) August 13, 2025 "Save your right to vote, Raise your voice against vote theft," she said. The video made by the Congress depicts a family entering a polling booth with two people telling them that their votes have already been cast by them and it ends with the two persons casting fake votes showing a thumbs up to an officer sitting at the table with 'election chori aayog' display plate on his table. The Congress on Tuesday had claimed that "vote chori" was a "do-or-die" issue for it, and announced a roadmap to take its allegations to the people through various activities, including taking out 'Loktantra bachao mashaal marches' on August 14 evening. The opposition party also claimed that as more "evidence" of "vote chori" was coming to the fore, it seemed that it was not mere theft but "dacoity". The assertion was made after Kharge held a meeting with party general secretaries, in-charges and heads of its frontal organisations. The meeting was attended by the likes of former party chief Rahul Gandhi and general secretaries Priyanka Gandhi, Jairam Ramesh, K C Venugopal, Sachin Pilot, Bhanwar Jitendra Singh, Ghulam Ahmad Mir, as well as treasurer Ajay Maken. Briefing reporters after the meeting, Congress leader and AICC in-charge of National Students' Union of India (NSUI) Kanhaiya Kumar had said a "big issue" of "vote chori" has come to the fore. "Rahul Gandhi ji has put forward the truth with evidence on how democracy is being throttled," he had said. Kumar had said that going forward, the Congress will take this to the people with three important programmes. On August 14, the eve of Independence Day, there will be a 'Loktantra bachao mashaal march' at all district headquarters, Kumar said, adding that between August 22 and September 7, the Congress will hold "vote chor, gaddi chhorh (vote thieves, relinquish power)" rallies in all state headquarters. "Between September 15 and October 15, a signature campaign will be run to save the right to vote and ensure people's participation," he had said, while asserting that the whole INDIA bloc is together on this. The Congress has also launched a web portal for people to register and demand accountability from the poll panel against what it called "vote chori", and express support for the demand for digital voter rolls. Gandhi had urged people to support this demand by registering on Anyone can click on the portal link and download "vote chori proof, demand EC accountability and report vote chori". It also carries Gandhi's video in which he reiterated his explosive claims of a "huge criminal fraud" in the polls through "collusion" between the BJP and the EC. He had cited an analysis in a constituency in Karnataka to support his claim, and said it was "a crime against the Constitution". On Monday, opposition MPs, including Rahul Gandhi, Kharge and Pawar, took out a protest march from the Parliament House to the Election Commission office against the revision of electoral rolls in Bihar and alleged "vote chori", but were stopped midway by the police and briefly detained amid high drama. Pappu Yadav backs Rahul's upcoming Bihar yatra, says ‘Oppn's duty to wake up sleeping govt'

With the ruling BJP refusing to yield to Opposition's demands on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) drive in Bihar and accusing the Opposition of politicizing the matter for political gains, Purnea MP Rajesh Ranjan, popularly known as Pappu Yadav, fired back and questioned the former, asking 'If we are doing politics, then what are they doing — social service?' He also rallied behind Congress MP Rahul Gandhi's upcoming yatra in Bihar, stating that the ruling dispensation must be held accountable for its failings. Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi is set to begin 'Matdata Adhikar (voters' rights) Yatra' in Bihar in three phases covering 30 districts from August 17. It was earlier scheduled to begin on August 10 but got postponed by a week due to demise of JMM founder and former Jharkhand CM Shibu Soren. Emphasizing the role of Opposition in democracy, Pappu Yadav said, 'In a democracy, Opposition plays a vital role in protecting the democratic values and integrity. It does so by speaking against wrong policies and holding the government accountable. Their job is to wake up the sleeping government and remind them of the oath they have taken. When the poor are exploited, it is the Opposition's duty to speak out.' Yadav defended Congress leader and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi's ongoing public outreach efforts. 'Rahul Gandhi is working according to his duties; he is not indulging in mere politics. Who else walks thousands of kilometres to connect with people? Today, many do politics on social media platforms like X, but Rahul Gandhi's efforts are on the ground, with real people," he told IANS. He further reacted to Rahul's 'Matdata Adhikar' Yatra in Bihar and said, 'Rahul Gandhi has travelled from Manipur to Gujarat, Kashmir to Kanyakumari. He is the only leader walking the path of struggle and truth. This Yatra is continuous, not bound by any single date. Today, every organisation and facility is under threat. With the SIR, Bihar's people face an attack on their voting rights.' The Yatra will start from Rohtas and move through key areas including Rohtas, Aurangabad, Gaya, Nawada, Nalanda, Sheikhpura, Jamui, and several others, finally reaching Patna. The campaign aims to rally public support against what Gandhi calls an assault on the Indian Constitution. When asked about Congress's position within the Mahagathbandhan (grand alliance) amid Rahul Gandhi's visit, Yadav said, 'All alliance partners are working together. Bargaining happens with Congress, but Congress never bargains itself. Congress is like the sea—every drain flows into it, but the sea never enters the drain. Rahul Gandhi will never bargain; his only aim is the country and exposing the failed governance of the BJP.'

Congress MP responds to objection of Bihar's Minta Devi: ‘Why do we need her permission?'

Congress Lok Sabha MP Imran Masood defended the Opposition's use of Minta Devi's photo in Bihar's SIR row, saying her permission was not required since the information came from Election Commission records. Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and other INDIA bloc members seen wearing T-shirts featuring the name Minta Devi, a voter allegedly listed as 124 years old in the Election Commission's voter list, during their protest over the issues of 'poll fraud' and Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls.(PTI ) He added that the woman is being 'oppressed' and that the Congress party stands against it. 'Why do we need her permission? We took her name from the records of the Election Commission. According to the Election Commission records, her age is listed as 124 years, and I have the record. Where does the need for her permission come in?,' Masood told news agency PTI. 'If she goes to vote tomorrow, people will ask her how she has become 124 years old. This has nothing to do with her personally. She is being oppressed, and we are standing against that oppression,' the Congress leader added. Masood responded after Minta Devi expressed her anger at the Congress leaders, asking who 'gave them the right' to wear t-shirts bearing her picture. Senior Congress leaders, including Priyanka Gandhi and Gaurav Gogoi, were seen wearing t-shirts featuring Minta Devi's picture and name on the front, with '124 Not Out' written on the back, inside the Parliament premises on Tuesday. The leaders alleged that the woman had been registered as a 124-year-old voter, making her nine years older than the oldest person in the world. 'Who are they (Opposition MPs) to me? Who is Priyanka Gandhi or Rahul Gandhi to me? Who gave them the right to wear t-shirts featuring me?' Minta Devi told the news agency ANI. However, she also acknowledged discrepancies in her voter details and demanded corrections. According to her Aadhar card, her date of birth is July 15, 1990, and she criticised her registration as a 124-year-old. Minta Devi, a resident of Bihar's Siwan district, was one of the voters highlighted in Rahul Gandhi's presentation on alleged voter fraud. He had claimed that she was listed as 124 years old in the Election Commission's draft voter list recently released.
