
McDonald's sets launch date for chicken strips. When can you get them? What about Snack Wraps?
McDonald's chicken strips are headed back into restaurants next month. And the Snack Wraps might not be far behind.
The fast food giant announced that McCrispy Strips will be back in stores nationwide, alongside a new Creamy Chili Dip by May 5. Some stores have the items now.
It's the chain's first new permanent menu item in the U.S. since 2021.
McCrispy Strips are made with 100% white meat and coated with crispy golden-brown breading featuring a new bold black pepper flavor. They're paired with Creamy Chili Dip, a savory, sweet and tangy sauce; but guests can opt for other McDonald's sauces.
The chicken strips will come in three- or four-piece counts.
When is the Snack Wrap coming back to McDonald's?
McDonald's previously confirmed that its Snack Wrap will be making a return, as well.
The company in Monday's release announcing the McCrispy Strips launch date said consumers should stay tuned for more updates, 'And that's a wrap…at least for now!'

McDonald's Snack Wrap is returning to U.S. menus. Here's what to know.
McDonald's Snack Wrap, a gone-but-not-forgotten customer favorite, is returning to the fast-food chain's restaurants in the U.S. after a nine-year hiatus. The popular sandwich will reappear on menus starting July 10, according to an announcement by the company on Tuesday in which Joe Erlinger, president of McDonald's USA, stated simply, "It's back." Consisting of a white-flour tortilla filled with chicken, shredded lettuce and cheese, the Snack Wrap was introduced nearly two decades ago. However, the item was removed from McDonald's menus in 2016 because it was too complicated for its kitchens to prepare. Customers have been calling for the Snack Wrap's return ever since. In announcing the Snack Wrap's return, the company included a link to a webpage called which it describes as a "content hub for the most anticipated menu item of the decade." Featuring Snack Wrap wallpaper as its background, the promotional webpage includes various large folders users can click into. A folder entitled "Fandom," for example, houses screenshots of social media posts from Snack Wrap fans expressing their love for the food and asking when it would be returned to McDonald's menus. In one email, entitled "Snack Wraps for this Pregnant Lady," a McDonald's customer named Carli writes "my biggest craving is something I can't have. I am due July 14th, 2025. Will snack wraps be back before then? Please just give me a hint." "I've waited years and I'm getting mildly impatient" wrote another fan called "loyal snack wrap lover." Another, more proactive display of loyalty included a petition to bring back the Snack Wrap. The petition garnered nearly 19,000 signatures. Bringing back the wrap was a "years-long process," Erlinger told The Associated Press. In its revived form, the Snack Wrap will feature fried chicken and come in two flavors: Ranch and Spicy. This is a departure from the original version, which included a choice of grilled or fried chicken and sauce options like honey mustard and sweet chili. The simplified recipe is to ensure faster service, according to the company. The company has not revealed how much the Snack Wrap will cost, only that prices will vary depending on location. McDonald's also posted on the Snack Wrap's on its X account, thanking ardent fans for resurrecting the long-lost menu item. Breaking the fourth wall, the social media manager behind the McDonald's account addressed followers directly, reminding them that "social media managers don't control the menu," but rather its the fans who are to thank for the Snack Wrap's revival. McDonald's analyst grills new stock price target on McCrispy reaction
Okay, people, so what do you think of McDonald's' McCrispy Strips? "Hey @McDonalds please stop hyping up your much delayed chicken snack wraps with your new McCrispy strips that have the texture of octopus and the flavor of a tire on a dirt road," one person said on X. All right, all right, don't sugarcoat it. Tell us how you really McFeel. "Yes," another poster said. "One bite of this clump of hard rubber was enough for me." "to me they were awful. rubbery and not crispy at all. super chewy and no flavor :/," another person declared on Reddit. "They're spongy and soggy," yet another complained. "Never again." Okay, so we're getting a social-media vibe now. And more important, an investment firm is getting a negative buzz as well. Now, to be fair, some people had nice things to say about McCrispy Strips, especially when they're paired with the new creamy chili dip. And many customers liked MCD's use of 100% white meat. McDonald's (MCD) unveiled McCrispy Strips in April, and on May 5 they became available at all participating restaurants nationwide. The move marked the first time since 2021 that the fast-food giant introduced a permanent menu item in the U.S. Chairman and CEO Chris Kempczinski told analysts during the first-quarter-earnings call in May that the launch of McCrispy Chicken Strips should contribute to growth. But he warned that "we remain cautious about the overall health of the consumer. Related: McDonald's CEO sounds alarm on major customer problem "We entered 2025 knowing that it would be a challenging time for the [quick-service-restaurant] industry, due to macroeconomic uncertainty and pressures weighing on the consumer. "During the first quarter, geopolitical tensions added to the economic uncertainty and dampened consumer sentiment more than we expected." While the Chicago company narrowly beat Wall Street's earnings expectations for the quarter, revenue fell short and U.S. same-store sales shrank 3.6%, the worst showing since the 8.7% tumble of Q2 2020 and the Covid pandemic lockdown. McDonald's shares are up 6.3% in 2025 and up 18% from a year ago. "The key for us now for the balance of the year is about execution," Kempczinski said. "And in an environment where there is a pressured consumer, you've got to simply outexecute your competitors. "And that means you've got to outexecute them on your value programs, you've got to outexecute them when it comes to marketing and menu innovation." Kempczinski talked about a halo benefit from the McCrispy to set up the reintroduction of the Snack Wrap, which is slated to return to McDonald's menus on July 10. But Loop Capital analyst Alton Stump wasn't so sure and downgraded McDonald's to hold from buy and cutting his price target to $315 from $346. Related: Popular chicken chain launches its version of McDonald's wraps The analyst said on June 6 that he had "growing concerns" that McDonald's' domestic comparison growth profile would not rebound as much as expected over the remainder of 2025. Customer feedback about the chicken strips has to date been predominantly negative, he said. That does not bode well ahead of McDonald's pending Snack Wrap introduction, which will include the new chicken strip, he said. Stump said he'd based his prior positive view of the shares on the company's ability to rejuvenate U.S. same-store sales via these two new products. McDonald's did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
