Mohamed Salah
Most goals, most assists and the most goal contributions in a Premier League season - ever. Salah has been unrivalled among the division's forwards. Liverpool wouldn't have won the title without him - and renewing his contract was absolutely vital to the club's chances of more silverware next term.
Virgil van Dijk
The best centre-back of all time, in my eyes. Who else is stronger? Who else reads the game better? Who else is better in the air? Who can pass the ball into the path of an onrushing attacker so effortlessly? If it wasn't for Salah collecting all the gongs, Van Dijk could well be this season's Premier League player of the year full stop.
Alexis Mac Allister
Effortless in possession and clever out of it. The Argentine goes under the radar but has been exceptional for Liverpool. He links the team and is the one midfielder capable of incisive central passes. He makes up his complete lack of pace by being positionally exceptional. Liverpool arguably need more creativity in midfield next season, but Mac Allister will still be one of the first names on the teamsheet.
Ryan Gravenberch
Gravenberch's breakthrough season is likely to have saved Liverpool £100m. After all, we were crying out for a midfield anchor last summer, but Arne Slot chose to use the Dutchman - who was more thought of as a number eight - and was rewarded for his bravery. Gravenberch is unbelievably slick on the half-turn and his first half of the campaign in particular was spectacular. He dropped off post-Christmas, but only because he has been run into the ground.

Chelsea kick off their 2025 FIFA Club World Cup campaign on Monday against Major League Soccer's LAFC. Enzo Maresca's side ended the season on a high as they won the Europa Conference League trophy and finished fourth in the Premier League to secure Champions League qualification on the final day of the 2024-25 season. Their focus now switches to the Club World Cup, where they will be among the favorites to win it all. Cole Palmer, Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez will all play starring roles, while new signing Liam Delap aims to hit the ground running and grab the starting No. 9 spot. LAFC beat Club America in a play-off to qualify for this tournament after Club Leon were barred from entering the competition due to ownership rules with their ownership group also owning Pachuca. Steve Cherundolo's LAFC are extremely dangerous on the counter attack and have some very exciting young players, as well as a sprinkling of veterans in Olivier Giroud, Hugo Lloris and Ryan Hollingshead. LAFC are flying the MLS flag in this competition along with the Seattle Sounders and Inter Miami, and American soccer fans hope the trio can cause plenty of upsets along the way against club giants from across the globe. Atletico Madrid want to sign Liverpool star on free transfer
Atletico Madrid are eyeing another busy summer transfer window, with several signings wanted by Diego Simeone. Left-back is one position that is expected to be addressed, and after moving on from Theo Hernandez, the club has now identified Andy Robertson as their leading candidate. Robertson is expected to lose his place as Liverpool's starting left-back next season, with AFC Bournemouth's Milos Kerkez set to join. And this gives Atleti hope of getting a deal done, especially as the Scotland international's contract at Anfield is due to expire in June 2026. Atletico Madrid want to sign Andy Robertson for free It has been reported that Robertson is very interested in making the move to the RiyadhAir Metropolitano, where he would be a regular starter ahead of Javi Galan and Reinildo Mandava. And according to Fabrizio Romano, Atleti hope to sign the 31-year-old defender for a nominal fee – or even on a free transfer. Advertisement Given that Atleti are targeting big-money moves for Cristian Romero and Alex Baena, there is a desire to save money where possible in the pursuit of other targets. But in this case, Liverpool still see Robertson as an important player despite his expected demotion, which could make it tricky for Los Colchoneros to get what they want. At 31, he still has many years left in the tank, and as a proven winner, he will be an important player in the dressing room. He would also be a perfect solution for the left-back issue that Simeone has been dealing with in recent years. But the likelihood is that they will not be able to get a deal done unless they commit to paying more than they currently intend to. For now, it remains to be seen whether they change their stance.
