Second email to federal workers comes with caveat
While in the air, the plane, a Bombardier CRJ-200, started getting turbulence that hurt five passengers, causing it to land at Waco Regional Airport, SkyWest Airlines said in a statement to NBC. There were 29 passengers and three crew members, NBC wrote. The five people injured were taken to the hospital, SkyWest's statement said.
'Medical personnel met and evaluated passengers, and five passengers were transported to the hospital,' SkyWest told NBC. 'SkyWest and United are making sure all customers get the care they need and dispatched another aircraft to fly the customers from Waco to Houston.'

Reagan National flights resuming after tower fire alarm
Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport resumed flights on Monday after stopping them earlier in the day after an air traffic control fire alarm went off. In an earlier statement on Monday, obtained by The Hill's sister network NewsNation, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said that the agency was 'pausing flights heading to Reagan Washington National Airport due to a fire alarm in the air traffic control tower.' The FAA said in a later statement to NewsNation that it was 'slowing flights into Reagan Washington National airport due to volume after inbound flights were paused because a fire alarm was activated in the air traffic control tower.' 'The tower is back to being fully operational,' the agency added. According to the flight tracking website FlightAware, 173 flights headed to National Airport were delayed Monday. Earlier this year, National Airport experienced a tragedy when an American Airlines flight and an Army Black Hawk helicopter collided near the airport, leaving no survivors. In the following months, a number of notable aviation incidents also raised questions about flight safety in the U.S.

New York teen tragically killed in Florida watercraft crash during graduation trip
A New York teen was killed after the watercraft her sister was driving crashed against the docks during a graduation trip in Florida — with her heartbroken father jumping into the water to desperately try to save them both. He did what he could,' the brother added. 3 Nisanov and her sister crashed into the dock after they lost control of the vessel, their brother said. NBC The sisters were rushed to the Broward Health Medical Center, where Rachel had succumbed to her injuries. Aviva was listed in critical condition and had undergone surgery late Tuesday night. She remained sedated on Wednesday, Yonah said. Advertisement The grieving brother described Rachel as a kind person who was 'always going the extra mile' for others. He said Rachel was the one most excited about getting on the boat. 3 Aviva was listed in critical condition as of Tuesday night. NBC Rachel's body was flown back to New York, with her funeral being held Wednesday night at the Bukharian Jewish Community Center, in Forest Hills. 2 dead after helicopter strikes power line and crashes into barge on Mississippi River
Two people were killed Thursday after the helicopter they were on board struck power lines crossing the Mississippi River and crashed onto a barge below, police said. The accident happened around 11 a.m. as the crew of the helicopter was conducting work on the power lines that cross the river in the area of St. Charles County, Missouri, State Patrol Cpl. Dallas Thompson told reporters. The helicopter crashed onto a barge in the river and there was a fire, but it was quickly extinguished, he said. No one on the barge was hurt. First responders evacuated the vicinity because the crash had sent a power line into the water, but it was later found that the wire was not live, Thompson said. The crash happened near Alton, Illinois, which is across the Missouri state line and the Mississippi River north of St. Louis, officials said. Wallace Maier was conducting a fishing charter in the area when the crash occurred, and he told NBC affiliate KSDK of St. Louis that it happened fast. "As soon as it touched it, there was just an explosion. It was just gone," Maier told the station. Utility company Ameren said that a contractor and its subcontractor were repairing and replacing tower lighting and marker balls on transmission lines in Madison County, Illinois, when the accident occurred. "We are saddened about today's tragic incident. Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences are with the victims' families and colleagues," a company spokesperson said in a statement. "We will cooperate with the investigation" The National Transportation Safety Board said that it will investigate the crash. It said the helicopter involved was a Hughes 369D.
