May 25 (UPI) -- Singer Alexa Ray Joel posted a message on Instagram this weekend in support of her father, rock 'n' roll legend Billy Joel, who announced he is battling a brain disorder called normal pressure hydrocephalus.
Billy, 76, canceled 17 upcoming concerts while he undergoes treatment for the condition.
"We love you and we got you, Pop! I just wanted to thank you all for the beautiful outpouring of love and support amid the recent news of My Father's health diagnosis," Alexa Ray, 39, wrote Saturday.
"My Dad is the strongest and most resilient man I've ever known... and he's entirely committed to making a full recovery with ongoing physical-therapy treatments as he continues to regain his strength," she added. "The genuine care, empathy, and concern from everyone means so much to him... it means a lot to me, too. 'Someday We'll All Be Gone / But Lullabies Go On And On / They Never Die / That's How You And I Will Be.' The music continues... All My Love, Alexa Ray."
A documentary about Billy is set to open this year's Tribeca Film Festival in New York in June. It will later air on HBO.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer wrapped up his 10-year, monthly residency at MSG in 2024 after his career 150th performance at the venue.
Joel is known for hits like "Movin' Out," "My Life," "You May Be Right," "Scenes From an Italian Restaurant," "Only the Good Die Young," "Piano Man," "Uptown Girl," "Pressure" and "We Didn't Start the Fire."

Jessie J reveals ‘early' breast cancer diagnosis

Jessie J revealed she was diagnosed with breast cancer. The singer revealed the diagnosis to her 13.9 million Instagram followers on Tuesday night after 'going back and forth a little bit' on whether she should share it or not. However, the 37-year-old wanted to share it with her fans and the people who care about her. 'Before 'No Secrets' came out, I was diagnosed with early breast cancer,' she explained. 'I'm highlighting the word early. Cancer sucks in any form but I'm holding on to the word early.' Jessie's latest album, 'No Secrets,' was released on May 16, her first album in four years. For the past few months, she's been 'in and out of tests' and she wanted to be open and share her health update because she doesn't 'talk about it enough,' and that she's been working so hard that she hasn't processed it herself. 'I also know how much sharing in the past has helped me with other people giving me their love and support and also their own stories,' she continued. 'I'm an open book. It breaks my heart that so many people are going through so much similar and worse, that's the bit that kills me.' The 'Domino' singer did attempt to make light of the whole ordeal. 'I'm getting to keep my nipples. That's good,' she said lightly. 'It's a weird topic and a weird situation.' She found it ironic that she was releasing a song called 'No Secrets' and 'Living My Best Life,' both of which were planned before she found out about her diagnosis. Before ending her video, she was able to crack a joke. 'I mean, you can't make it up. It's a very dramatic way to get a boob job,' she said. 'I am going to disappear for a bit after summertime ball to have my surgery, and I will come back with massive t-ts and more music.' Many of Jessie's celebrity friends offered words of support in the post's comment section. 'Love you! We all are sending healing energy to youuu… excited for the massive t-ts and more music,' wrote Katy Perry. 'You're literally my favourite person, and I'm praying for you,' wrote Rita Ora. 'You've got this. My mother had it, and I know the surgery and any treatment on this matter is mentally tough, so I'm here for you.' 'Big love,' wrote Chelsea Handler. Country singer Major wrote, 'MASSIVE LOVE, Sister J! Praying for full recovery, keeping of your mind, spirit, & family. YOU GOT THIS!' 'I'm praying for you,' wrote Amber 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc.
