Pedro Pascal Is Now Such a Massive Star, He's Narrating Actual Planetarium Films
There are big stars, and then there are big stars. Count Pedro Pascal among both groups. The 'Last of Us,' 'Eddington,' 'Materialists,' and 'Fantastic Four: The First Steps' actor has already enjoyed a very busy 2025 (with, of course, more to come), but even the most devoted of his fans might not realize he's got another new release coming out this month: a planetarium film.
Pascal narrates 'Encounters in the Milky Way,' the Hayden Planetarium's seventh Space Show, which will be available for viewing at New York City's American Museum of Natural History starting next week. There's no word yet which other museums might license the film, but the stunning new 25-minute offering will indeed be available to other institutions eager to share the new look inside our own galaxy.

At a press preview event held Tuesday morning in New York City, the actor was sadly not in attendance, but his natural gravitas was on full display during the screening of the film. Billed as a 'time-traveling journey,' the new planetarium feature takes audiences both inside and very far out of our own home galaxy, with a special focus on the various 'encounters' that have shaped the entire universe.
Relying on spectacular assortment of data from the European Space Agency's Gaia mission, which has been dubbed the 'billion-star survey' for 'mapping the precise positions, distances, and motions of nearly 2 billion stars in the Milky Way since 2013,' the film brings fresh perspective to our galaxy and beyond.
And Pascal, whose voiceover narration was actually directed by Shawn Levy, brings his own kind of wonder and joy to the outing, as we zip through the Milky Way, way out, and back again, all in service to learning more about how the various components of the universe interact with each other. It's a total blast, and it seriously flies by fast. (And for those really looking to get granular, the film is packed with compelling little space discoveries; if you've never heard of an 'oort cloud,' you're about to learn so much more about it.)
Pascal joins an array of big names who have previously narrated Space Shows, including Neil deGrasse Tyson, Whoopi Goldberg, Lupita Nyong'o, Robert Redford, and Tom Hanks. And, even if you are unable to check out the film (which we strongly recommend to any and all audiences), you can get a taste of his narration in the trailer above. Stellar stuff.

If Coldplay 's rendition of 'Fix You' sounded especially mournful during the band's recent concerts at Stanford Stadium, it may be because frontman Chris Martin has officially parted ways with actress Dakota Johnson. In what appears to be a definitive end to one of Hollywood's more quietly enduring romances, the 48-year-old Coldplay singer and the 35-year-old 'Fifty Shades of Grey' star have split after nearly eight years of an on-and-off relationship, according to People. Martin and Johnson, who began dating in 2017, were last seen together in mid-May in Malibu, where they had shared a home since 2021. Despite that recent outing, sources told People the breakup 'feels final this time.' Representatives for the pair have not commented. The couple largely kept their relationship private, though it was occasionally illuminated by moments of public affection — most memorably in 2021, when Martin gave Johnson an onstage shoutout during a London concert. 'This is about my universe, and she's here,' he said, gesturing to Johnson before launching into Coldplay's BTS collaboration, 'My Universe.' Johnson, who partially grew up in San Francisco, previously shared that the couple enjoyed being homebodies. Could Sydney Sweeney be a murderer, and if so, would her mother Julianne Moore even care? Such are the questions at the center of the highly-anticipated Apple Original Film 'Echo Valley,' directed by 'Beast' and 'Encounter' filmmaker Michael Pearce and written by 'Mare of Easttown' scribe Brad Inglesby. Sweeney stars as Claire, the troubled daughter of Kate (Moore), who shows up on her doorstep covered in someone else's blood. 'As Kate pieces together the shocking truth of what happened, she learns just how far a mother will go to try to save her child in this gripping tale of love, sacrifice and survival,' the logline reads. The film is set on the secluded Echo Valley Farm in Pennsylvania, with the tagline teasing that the feature is a 'heart-pounding thriller about just how far a mother will go to save her child.' The person that they are at the core, as buried as they might be, is still there.' Director Pearce credited Sweeney for going all out for the role, saying, 'It's kind of spooky how quickly she can get to a very raw emotional place when you call 'action,' and she's just straight away exactly where the character needs to be. Which is often a very place of extreme emotional duress. Then you'd call cut and maybe change your lens, and she's very light. You'd call 'action' again, and she's straight there in a matter of seconds.' Pearce continued, 'The way that she was screaming at Julianne, I thought she was going to burst her eardrum. It was so intense. But as soon as we called 'cut,' they were just laughing. They were just so happy to get their teeth stuck into such a meaty scene.' And co-lead Moore hinted at just how twisted the film is: 'These are my favorite kinds of movies: movies about relationships,' Moore said. 'What will people do for one another? What kind of decisions do you make? How far will you go? I'm kind of curious what the reaction will be,' she says. 'There will be a sense, certainly, among parents going, like, 'well, would I do that? How far would I go?' You're left with those questions.' 'Echo Valley' premieres June 13 on Apple TV+.
