Rekha Gupta Relaunches Special Bus For Delhi University Students
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Tuesday announced the relaunch of the youth special bus service around the Delhi University campus to provide a student-friendly transport option.
Addressing students on the occasion of the inauguration of the new academy block at Delhi University's Social Centre School, the chief minister said when she was a student, there used to be a youth special bus for university students.
"The Delhi government is once again starting the youth special, which will be on DU's route with a little bit of music playing in the bus. This is my gift to students today," Ms Gupta said.
To promote mentorship and community learning, she proposed that Delhi colleges adopt government schools.
"Why don't our colleges adopt two-three schools each where college students can go weekly and teach and motivate the school students?" she said, directing Education Minister Ashish Sood to prepare a blueprint for the initiative.
Recalling his student days, Mr Sood said, "Coming to Delhi University is a very nostalgic moment for me as I have spent so many years on this campus. Whenever I see a new educational building, I don't see the bricks and materials, but I see doctors, engineers and patriots emerging from it." The Delhi government's priority is the democratisation of education across the city, ensuring access and equality in learning, he said.
DU Vice-Chancellor Yogesh Singh also addressed the gathering and encouraged students to develop a solution-oriented mindset.
"I want to tell students that you should be problem solvers, not someone who complains," he said.
On the new academy block, Mr Singh said, "This building was built in 21 months at a cost of Rs 21 crore." Calling for a more value-driven approach to learning, he said, "We need an ecosystem in our education system where students become more country-centric, not self-centric, which has been missing for the last 75 years."

Now, this amount is being used for the development of this country," the prime minister said. PM Modi was speaking at an event at Kartavya Path after inaugurating Kartavya Bhavan (Common Central Secretariat Building) 3, the first of the 10 state-of-the-art Central government office complexes planned as part of the Central Vista redevelopment plan. These blocks will house offices of all ministries and associated departments, presently functioning from Shastri Bhawan, Krishi Bhawan, Udyog Bhawan, Nirman Bhawan, North and South Blocks and other buildings located at different locations.

‘Political greed of mayor and MLA has ruined Mohali': SAD district chief slams Kulwant Singh & Mayor Sidhu
Shiromani Akali Dal's Mohali district president Parvinder Singh Sohana has launched a fierce attack on Mohali Mayor Amarjit Singh Jeeti Sidhu and local MLA Kulwant Singh, blaming their 'political greed' for the decline of the city. Addressing a press conference Wednesday, Sohana alleged that 'both these leaders unite when it serves their interests, and at other times, they cross swords to fool the public'. He said that they have destroyed Mohali by prioritising their own political gains over public welfare. With the Municipal Corporation elections just months away, Sohana accused Mayor Sidhu of suddenly pretending to care about civic problems that he ignored for over four years. 'After four and a half years of corruption that financially ruined Mohali MC, the mayor now wants to act like a savior,' said Sohana, warning that residents will not fall for such tactics again. He questioned the Mayor's recent demand of Rs 600 crore from the government, asking, 'Where is the estimate for this? Where is it supposed to be spent? When was this discussed in any MC meeting?' Turning his criticism toward MLA Kulwant Singh, Sohana said the legislator has ignored the city's core issues. 'For the past one year and a half, garbage management has failed completely. People are falling sick, but the MLA is only busy with politics,' he stated. He also criticised Kulwant Singh's claim of using Samgoli village as a garbage dump. 'Will people not be living there? Is it right to dump our city's waste into someone else's backyard?' asked Sohana. On the issue of rainwater flooding, Sohana said both the Mayor and MLA were equally responsible. 'Every year, citizens suffer massive losses, but these two only play blame games while people become victims of their political rivalry.' He emphasised that the Shiromani Akali Dal government had earlier invested Rs 2,500 crore in developing Mohali's infrastructure, yet 'not even one-fifth of that has been brought in by the current Mayor and MLA, and whatever came wasn't spent properly'. Demanding accountability, Sohana said, 'Instead of troubling Mohali residents with their political enmity, these two leaders should either work sincerely for the betterment of the city or step down from their positions, owning up to their moral responsibility.'

SP youth wing leader held for fake currency, real estate fraud
Ayodhya: The Ayodhya police on Tuesday arrested a Samajwadi Party youth wing leader, his wife, and brother, along with eight other persons, for dealing in counterfeit currency, soliciting investments in real estate through false promises, and issuing threats when a return of the money was demanded. Raja Maan Singh, the national secretary of Samajwadi Yuvjan Sabha, is also a Samajwadi Party zila panchayat member from Ayodhya. Ayodhya SSP Gaurav Grover confirmed the arrest and said that Rs 8 lakh were recovered from Singh's house. Party's Ayodhya district president Parasnath Yadav confirmed to TOI that Raja Maan Singh is a member of the party.
