Coetzé gets silver in 50m backstroke final — for third medal at world champs
Pieter Coetzé has won his third medal at the 205 World Aquatics Championships in Singapore after finishing second in the 50m backstroke final on Sunday.
The South African touched the wall in 24.17 seconds, a fair bit behind winner and world record holder Kliment Kolesnikov who won in 23.68. In third was Pavel Samusenko in the same time as Coetzé, 24.17.

It's another African record for Coetzé, who won a gold medal in the 100m backstroke early last week and silver in the 200m backstroke final on Friday.
The other South African medal winner at the championships is Kaylene Cobett, who got bronze in the 200m breaststroke final.
The competition ends Sunday.

Kaizer Chiefs transfer news: Ighodaro, Phiri, Zajmovic, new striker
Kaizer Chiefs have signed six players so far this transfer window but the club have indicated that more signings would be made before the window closes. The team will play their first official match of the season against Stellenbosch on Sunday at the Cape Town Stadium. Nasreddine Nabi will hope to get his side to a winning start after a disappointing 2024/25 campaign. Amakhosi are linked with 24-year-old striker Etiosa Ighodaro, who is under contract with rivals Mamelodi Sundowns. 'That player [Ighodaro] belongs to another team with administrative issues, but he or another striker that we listed on our transfer list will be welcomed,' Nabi said when questioned by FARPost . 'For now, we will wait to hear from our administration if he or another striker will join.
