Sindh govt fully mobilised to deal with rain challenge: Sharjeel
Addressing a press conference in Karachi, Sindh Senior Minister and Provincial Minister for Information, Transport, and Mass Transit Sharjeel Inam Memon said that the administration, under the leadership of Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, is fully alert, with all necessary machinery available around the clock. He stated that, on the instructions of Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, all party workers and leadership are standing with the people, and public service remains the top priority. He also assured full coordination and support from the Sindh government in light of the recent visits by the Governor of Punjab.
Sharjeel Inam Memon strongly condemned the unfortunate incident in Balochistan, stating that those involved in the killing of innocent people must be given the strictest punishment. He added that the Pakistan Peoples' Party strongly denounces such acts of violence and stands in solidarity with the victims. He stated that the Pakistan Peoples' Party is currently the largest party in the Senate and is actively playing its role in promoting peace, stability, and development at the federal level.
Sharjeel Memon stated that, to address the challenges faced by the business community, the Sindh government has launched an online one-window operation aimed at eliminating red tape. He said that this is a golden opportunity for business in Pakistan, and the Sindh government is making every effort to provide all possible facilities to industrialists and traders.
He said that strict action has been taken regarding the recent building collapse incident in Karachi. Out of 61 extremely dangerous buildings, 59 have already been evacuated. Immediate action is being taken against illegal constructions, and several such structures have been demolished. He added that the Sindh government is providing six months' rent to affected tenants to ensure they do not face hardships. He appealed to the public to promptly report any illegal constructions, as they pose a serious threat to human lives—something that cannot be tolerated under any circumstances.
Sharjeel Memon said that mega projects in Karachi are progressing rapidly. The Jam Sadiq Bridge is expected to be completed and opened to the public by August, while construction work is also underway on Shahrah-e-Bhutto. The Yellow Line and Red Line BRT projects are nearing completion.
He said that work is being prioritized in the areas where the public is facing inconvenience. The Sindh Chief Minister is holding regular meetings on the K-4 project, which is also expected to be completed soon.
Sharjeel Memon said that while the punishment of a political leader is not a cause for celebration, attacks involving arson and the siege of state property are absolutely unacceptable. He condemned the setting fire to the People's Bus Service, ambulances, and Quaid-e-Azam's house, calling it the worst form of terrorism. He emphasized that it is the state's responsibility to bring such perpetrators to justice in accordance with the law. He said that the mastermind behind the May 9th arson attack is currently in Adiala Jail. While he kept his own children abroad, he took children from ordinary families onto the streets and used them against the state. This is not politics but terrorism, which must be stopped at all costs.
Sharjeel Memon further stated that, for the first time in history, action has been taken against senior government officials involved in illegal constructions. Many constructions were carried out without approved plans, and following surveys, action is being taken against those responsible. Legal proceedings are underway against builders found violating the law to ensure that no one is allowed to jeopardize human lives in the future.

ISLAMABAD: Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar has strongly dismissed recent media reports claiming that Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar is a member of the Sugar Advisory Board, terming the news misleading and taken out of context. Speaking to the media, Tarar clarified that a written response was submitted by the relevant department in the Senate in reply to a formal question, and all such records are available on the floor of the House. Tarar added that unprecedented efforts are being made under the current administration for DrAafia Siddiqui's release, and political opponents are attempting to create controversy by misrepresenting facts. The minister also spoke about Pakistan's progress in regulating crypto currency, stating that it is the only country in the region to have established a proper regulatory framework. He criticised former finance minister Miftah Ismail's views on crypto, comparing them to India's stance. 'Crypto is a growing and regulated industry in Pakistan. Sindh PA to take up resolution against NEPRA
A resolution has been tabled in the Sindh Assembly against the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority's (NEPRA) decision, which will be discussed in detail in the House on Tuesday (today). The resolution has been supported by the Sindh government. Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon unequivocally said that the Constitution does not allow electricity distribution companies to impose collective punishment on people. During the Sindh Assembly session on Monday, MQM member Amir Siddiqui tabled the resolution, stating that NEPRA's July 18 decision to collect Rs50 billion from the people of Karachi is unjust. He said that NEPRA has no right to punish an entire area for one person's theft. He said that K-Electric (KE)has failed to collect bills, and this has not stopped electricity theft, yet the punishment is being meted out to the people who pay their bills regularly. Sharjeel said that KE's inability to collect bills is not a new issue and that NEPRA's decision to allow KE to collect Rs50 billion from Karachiites is unjust.

Homes for flood-hit families: Sindh People's Housing Scheme ‘largest' project in world: Sharjeel
HYDERABAD: A major ceremony was held at Rawal House, Rahooki in Tando Jam under the Sindh People's Housing Scheme, where ownership rights of newly constructed homes were distributed among flood-affected families. Sindh Senior Minister for Information, Transport and Mass Transit, Sharjeel Inam Memon, attended as chief guest and addressed the event. He said this is not a routine gathering but a 'historic message being sent to the world that the Pakistan Peoples Party is a symbol of public service.' He asserted that the Sindh Peoples Housing Scheme is not just the largest in Pakistan but the largest such project in the world, aiming to provide free homes to 2.1 million families. He said the initiative stems from PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari's vision, formed after visiting flood-hit areas in the aftermath of the devastating 2022 rains. Acting on Bilawal's direction, the Sindh government made immediate arrangements to provide permanent housing for those affected. The minister acknowledged the initial scepticism about the feasibility of building so many homes, but noted that Bilawal Bhutto made it clear that 'this is not a political statement but a commitment to public service these homes must be built.' Following extensive planning and engagement with the World Bank and international agencies, the massive housing programme began. A distinctive feature of the scheme, Memon said, is that ownership rights are being granted in the names of women, to empower them and ensure stability within families. Those awarded today, he said, had lost everything and endured harsh conditions in temporary camps, but now thanks to the Peoples Party government's efforts they have secure homes and financial support channelled through bank accounts. He added that the Sindh scheme is unprecedented in scale, noting that while 800,000 homes were rebuilt after the Nepal earthquake, Sindh's programme delivers 2.1 million. 'It deserves recognition in the Guinness Book of World Records,' he said. Memon also highlighted other PPP government initiatives, such as the only Cyber Knife equipped hospital providing free cancer treatment, and efforts to install solar panels in flood victims' homes to address electricity shortages. He announced a new programme 'Maash' for employment and economic empowerment will be launched soon. Paying tribute to President Asif Ali Zardari on his 70th birthday, Memon cited landmark achievements, including the 18th Amendment, NFC Award, Aghaz-e-Huqooq-e-Balochistan, and Benazir Income Support Programme, and the country's turnaround from wheat importer to exporter. He maintained that the Peoples Party considers public service a duty rather than a favour, and challenged rival parties to point to any single comparable completed project. Sindh Assembly member Imdad Pitafi and Commissioner Hyderabad Fayaz Abbasi also addressed the ceremony, affirming that 99% of the 45,000 homes targeted for Hyderabad division have been completed.
