Eleven years of Modi government marked by propaganda, lack of accountability: Rahul Gandhi
New Delhi [India], June 9 (ANI): Congress leader Rahul Gandhi targeted the Modi government over the train accident in Maharashtra on Monday, saying it was celebrating its 11 years in office when the reality of the country is coming from Mumbai, where 'several people lost their lives after falling from a train'.
Rahul Gandhi, who is Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha alleged that 11 years of Modi government have been 'without accountability or change' but only about 'propaganda'.
In a post on X, Rahul Gandhi said that instead of talking of the present, the BJP government is 'selling dreams of 2047'.
'While the Modi Government is celebrating 11 years of 'service', the reality of the country is reflected in the tragic news coming from Mumbai - several people died after falling from a train. Indian Railways is the backbone of the lives of crores of people, but today it has become a symbol of insecurity, congestion and chaos,' Rahul Gandhi said.
'Eleven years of Modi government = no accountability, no change, only propaganda. Who will see what the country is facing today? I express my deepest condolences to the families of the deceased and wish the injured a speedy recovery,' he added.
Eight passengers travelling towards Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) fell from an excessively crowded train at Mumbra railway station in Thane district on Monday, officials from Central Railways said on Monday.
The accident, which occurred on the Down/Fast Line, disrupted local train services. According to Central Railways, the reason for the accident is believed to be excessive crowd on the train.

The Modi-led NDA government is marking the completion of 11 years in office. Narendra Modi assumed office as Prime Minister in his first term on May 26, 2014, and assumed office for a third consecutive term on June 9 last year.
Earlier today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged citizens to participate in a survey on the NaMo App regarding India's growth journey over the past 11 years.
In a social media post on X, PM Modi shared a link to the portal and encouraged people to share their views through the 'Jan Man Survey' available on the app.

Sources described the silence as a lack of intent to engage constructively. The Commission clarified that the Congress party had already received a formal reply to its earlier queries on December 24, 2024. This response, according to the ECI, is publicly available on its official website, contradicting claims of a lack of transparency. Refuting the charges of deliberate opacity in the electoral roll process, the ECI advised District Congress Presidents to appoint Booth Level Agents (BLAs) at every polling booth and actively participate in the annual process of electoral roll updates, sources said. The Commission sources added that it has been conducting training programmes for BLAs of all political parties at its dedicated training institute and encouraged the Congress to make full use of these opportunities to avoid any 'misconceptions". The sources further asserted that if the Congress chooses not to engage in the roll revision process, it should at least trust the Booth Level Officers (BLOs) appointed by the Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) under Section 13B(2) of the Representation of the People Act, 1950. These officials, the ECI sources noted, function as part of a statutory framework to ensure the accuracy and integrity of the electoral rolls. The EC sources also reminded the public that the preparation of electoral rolls, conduct of polls, and counting of votes are overseen by statutory authorities such as the ERO, Presiding Officer (PRO), and Returning Officer (RO), all of whom work under the ECI's constitutional mandate under Article 324. Ultimately, it stressed, it is the voters who decide the outcome of elections, not the administrative process. In a strongly worded final remark, ECI sources took aim at what they described as a pattern of political deflection by the Congress. They said any party preparing for electoral outcomes should do so in the political domain, not by 'fighting the referee". The Commission sources concluded, 'The electors of India are intelligent enough to understand why the INC (Indian National Congress) keeps fighting the referee whenever it loses an election.'

He accused the AAP government of trying to sneak in policies that betray Punjab's linguistic and cultural ethos, only to reverse course when caught red-handed. 'This pattern has become a hallmark of the AAP regime, quietly undermining Punjab's interests, then staging a course correction to save face,' Bajwa stated.

'Derogatory' Remarks Against Amaravati: Journalist Who Hosted Show Arrested
Amaravati: Senior Telugu journalist Kommineni Srinivas Rao was arrested in Hyderabad on Monday for hosting a programme on a vernacular channel where a scribe allegedly made derogatory remarks against the greenfield capital city Amaravati, said a police official. Guntur district Superintendent of Police S Satish confirmed that Thullur police from Amaravati have arrested the journalist. "Thullur police have arrested Kommineni Srinivas Rao from Hyderabad over the derogatory remarks against Amaravati," Satish told PTI, adding that the journalist is being brought to Andhra Pradesh from Telangana. VVR Krishna Raju, the journalist, who was also part of the programme, was accused of spewing venom against Amaravati and its women. According to information shared by a source close to the TDP-led NDA government, the duo were booked under BNS Sections 79, 196 (1), 353 (2), 299, 356 (2) and 61 (1) and Section 67 of the IT Act, including Section (1) of the SC/ST Prevention of Atrocities Act. Meanwhile, YSRCP said that an FIR was registered against Rao four days ago in Thullur police station, accusing him of "failing to intervene during the broadcast", which featured those alleged vitriolic remarks. "Immediately after his arrest, Rao was transferred to Vijayawada. Rao, a senior citizen, questioned the legality of the arrest without explanation," said a note from the YSRCP. Condemning the arrest, YSRCP chief Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, called it a "political vendetta". "In any discussion, diverse opinions are natural. Punishing an anchor for guests' statements is not only unjust, it's dangerous," Reddy said in a post on 'X'. The former chief minister questioned the rationale behind punishing a moderator for remarks made by panelists during a televised debate, warning such actions endanger democratic discourse and press freedom. He accused the TDP-led NDA government of suppressing dissent, using fear and intimidation tactics to silence intellectuals, journalists, and opposition voices across the southern state. He alleged that Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu was "weaponising the state apparatus" to divert public attention from failures, corruption, and broken electoral promises. "You (Naidu) were given five years-one has already passed. The day will come when the people will demand answers for your abuses and injustices," Reddy warned.
