Police conduct cordon and search operations in Begumpet
Hyderabad: A 'Community Connect, Cordon and Search Operation' was conducted across various localities in Begumpet on Tuesday night. During the operation, police seized foreign cigarettes valued at Rs 4 lakh, and approximately 70 vehicles were impounded for either lacking valid documents, displaying no number plates, or being found abandoned.
A total of 530 houses were checked during the extensive operation, which involved a police team comprising around 200 members. According to police, the primary objective of the programme was to engage with the local community, understand their concerns, identify social issues, and take decisive action against anti social elements. The initiative also specifically aimed to curb drug related activities, public consumption of alcohol, and other unlawful behaviours.
The operation covered key areas, including Sanjeevaiah Park Railway Station, NBT Nagar, Patigadda, and Old Patigadda. Senior police officials, including the DCP, North Zone; ACP, Begumpet; SHO and DI, Sub Inspectors of Begumpet Police Station; and staff drawn from other police stations, participated in the community engagement. They interacted with residents and gathered feedback on local civic issues.
S Rashmi Perumal, DCP North Zone, extended her gratitude to the local residents for their cooperation during the operation and appreciated their active participation.
The department assured the public that similar programmes would be organised in the future to strengthen police public relations and ensure community safety. The Zone Police appealed to the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious or criminal activities in their neighbourhood.

As per the Times of India, an FIR was filed against the driver of the vehicle for breaching traffic laws under multiple sections of the Motor Vehicles Act, including Sections 177, 184, and 281. These sections carry different penalties: Section 177 involves a fine of Rs 500 for minor rule violations; Section 184 allows for either a Rs 1,000 fine or up to one year of jail time for reckless driving; and Section 281 provides for a fine of Rs 1,000 or up to six months in jail for endangering public safety. Meanwhile, the police have stated that appropriate action will be taken based on the nature of the violations captured in the video.

Thane Police bust: Truck with illegal khair wood caught; Rs 41 lakh load, driver held
THANE: The Thane crime branch unit-5 arrested a truck driver for illegally transporting prohibited khair wood worth over Rs 41 lakh in a late-night operation near Nitin Naka. Acting on credible intelligence received on June 16, 2025, Assistant Police Inspector Sharad Patil of Crime Branch Wagle Unit 5 learned that a Gujarat registered truck would be illegally transporting prohibited khair wood via the Nitin Naka route around 1:00 AM on June 17, heading towards Majiwada. The arrested accused was identified as Anilkumar Ramchandra Gupta, aged 54 years, who works as a driver and resides in Dhule. During the inspection of the seized truck, police discovered 10.5 tons of khair wood solid timber logs valued at Rs 31.72 lakh. The total seizure, including the Gujarat registered truck, amounts to Rs 41.75 lakh. 'The consignment was picked up from Nandurbar and was headed to the Konkan region. The other links of the accused are under investigation,' said Salil Bhisale, Senior Inspector of Crime Branch Unit-5. A case was registered at Wagle Estate Police Station under various sections, including Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita Section 303(2), 3(5), and Indian Forest Act 1927 Sections 41(B), 42, and 72(B). Assistant Police Inspector Shri Sharad Yuvraj Patel of Unit 5 Wagle is conducting further investigation into the matter. The Faridabad police Wednesday arrested a 19-year-old man and apprehended his two minor accomplices for allegedly assaulting and holding a Dalit man hostage at Subhash Colony in the Ballabgarh area. Apart from assaulting the man, identified as Sahil, the accused also shaved his head, eyebrows, and moustache, and allegedly hurled casteist slurs against him on Monday evening, the police said. According to police, the main accused hatched a plan to attack Sahil, who was once his close friend, 'to teach him a lesson' due to the ongoing disputes between the two. Preliminary investigations revealed that the two had known each other for eight years. The police have, however, ruled out any casteist angle in the attack, though they have registered a case under relevant provisions of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. The accused allegedly called Sahil, aged between 25-30, to a dispensary near his residence and assaulted him along with his accomplices, a police spokesperson said. After shaving his head, the assailants allegedly stole Rs 3,000 from Sahil's pocket and allegedly hurled casteist abuses at him. He was later abandoned outside his residence, the officer said. 'The fight was over a change in friends' groups, and no caste angle has been found yet. The Atrocities Act has been invoked since he belongs to a Scheduled Caste. He (victim) has not been in a state to give a statement yet, but we are expecting to get one today,' said the spokesperson. The police registered a case based on the complaint of Suraj, Sahil's cousin, a resident of Subhash Colony at the Adarsh Nagar police station. They also dismissed reports that the victim was made to drink urine or hung upside down. The main accused was produced before a court on Wednesday and sent to judicial custody, while the two minors were presented before the Juvenile Justice Board for further action. Inspector Nafe Singh of Adarsh Nagar police station said that the man has sustained minor injuries.
