Coronation Street star welcomes second baby with unique and 'beautiful' name
Rebecca Ryan, who played Lydia Chambers on the cobbles, has given birth to her second child with husband Dan.
Coronation Street's Rebecca Ryan has given birth to her second child. The former cobbles star, known for her role as Lydia Chambers, shared the delightful arrival of her newest daughter with husband Dan Acram.
The soap actress announced the heartwarming news on Instagram, two years after their first child Aurora was born. She introduced her bundle of joy to her followers with a sweet reveal - and an even sweeter, stand-out moniker.
"Introducing the newest member of my little girl gang, the adorable Oriana," Rebecca, 34, wrote. The name Oriana shares a Latin root with Aurora and is linked to the Latin meaning for gold, 'aurum', and dawn or sunrise, 'oriens'.
Her brother Jack, who also appeared in the ITV soap as Jacob Hay, raced to share his delight in the comment section, gushing: "Proof that the first time wasn't a fluke, you make the most beautiful babies."
Congratulatory messages poured in from Rebecca's Corrie colleagues, including Sally Carman who raved: "She's beautiful! Congratulations to you both!" and Elle Mulvaney who added: "congratulations she is beautiful."
The mum-of-two also shared an adorable Instagram snap of Dan and Aurora carrying Oriana out of hospital in a car seat with the caption: "Family," followed by a pink love heart. Van Morrison's 'Days Like This' played over the Story.
Rebecca has showcased her talent across various popular series such as Waterloo Road, Casualty, and Shameless.
Prior to giving birth, she documented her pregnancy journey online with snapshots depicting her growing bump.
"Sleeps overrated anyway, here comes baby No.2," she wrote in her latest pregnancy announcement.
The touching post was followed by a red heart emoji.
Rebecca and her husband have been eagerly showing off their firstborn daughter on social media since she arrived in 2023. Last year, Rebecca delighted followers with charming snaps of her darling girl celebrating her first birthday.
Taking to Instagram, Rebecca wrote: "My darling girl Aurora, where has this year gone?
"The immeasurable joy and love you have brought into my life is something I will be forever thankful for.
"Your cheeky smile lights up every room, and I just love watching you grow and change every single day.
"You are the best thing that has ever happened to me. Happy 1st birthday my girl."
The arrival of a second child will add another member to Rebecca's expanding clan, which features her accomplished sibling, also known for his soap work.
Audiences were surprised to hear that Rebecca and Jack were siblings when she joined the cast of the beloved British soap shortly after Jack began playing Jacob.
Even the showrunners were taken aback when they discovered that the two were related upon casting them as principal stars. Reflecting on the reaction, Rebecca told The Mirror: "Nobody at 'Coronation Street' had any idea.
"When I joined, I'd be talking to people and say, 'Oh, yeah, my brother works here'. And they'd go, 'Really, who's your brother? What? Jack!'
"It's a dream come true to be working on the show at the same time, but it's a total coincidence."

Hollyoaks star Ali Bastian reveals her body is ‘under construction' after cancer
Former Hollyoaks star Ali Bastian has discussed her cancer recovery. The 43-year old actress played Becca Dean on the Channel 4 soap for 6 years between 2001 and 2007. After leaving the show, she had a regular role in ITV police drama The Bill, and starred as Becky Clarke in since-axed BBC daytime medical series Doctors. In September, she revealed her diagnosis with stage two breast cancer, confirming that she discovered a lump whilst breastfeeding her daughter Isabella. At first, doctors believed the lump to be a blocked duct, though following a round of antibiotics and further tests done at a specialist clinic, cancerous cells were found. In December, she rang the bell after five months of treatment and, three months later, she revealed that she is cancer free. 'I wanted to update you all,' the star wrote on Instagram at the time. 'I'm on to my final week of radio therapy which should mark the end my active treatment – I hope and pray for good! 'I had my mastectomy in January which was thankfully a success and has healed really well, it proved that my chemo had worked. 'As I sit here right now, I'm free from Cancer. I can't even believe it.' She has now said that her body is 'under construction' and that she's considering reconstruction surgery following a mastectomy. 'I couldn't have a reconstruction at the time because we always knew I'd have to have radiotherapy. At some point there'll be some kind of something,' she told Giovanna Fletcher on her Happy Mum, Happy Baby podcast 'Initially I was like 100% it's happening. But now, I want to have the conversations and talk through what the options are, but I'm not actually married to any of them at the moment.' She continued: 'I've got a really good prosthetic that makes a big difference. It means in clothes I feel normal. It's bright pink. It makes me happy. 'It's just very different to the lump of silicone that you get handed in the hospital, which is a hell of a moment. 'This is a lot lighter and easy to wear. I quite like that it doesn't look like a chicken fillet, like a pretend boob. Want to be the first to hear shocking EastEnders spoilers? Who's leaving Coronation Street? 'It's something that I could show the kids as well because it's so visually appealing. 'It was one of those little bridging things. I just keep saying to myself really 'I'm still under construction, I've been through a lot, I'm healing at the moment'.' More Trending Ali shares two daughters, five-year old Isla and two-year old Isabella, with husband David O'Mahony. She continued to tell Giovanna that she now plans to focus on other health issues, such as a hernia that she developed during childbirth. 'I've got a big old hernia from my babies as well,' she said. 'Because of all of this I haven't been able to have that done, and actually I'm more keen to get that done than anything else because that is harder to hide. View More » 'It's like a tennis ball. Love Island star calls for show to be AXED – eight years after hitting rock bottom on it
She took to her Instagram Stories to share a powerful statement hours before the new series kicked off Axe to grind Love Island star calls for show to be AXED – eight years after hitting rock bottom on it Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) LOVE Island star Malin Andersson has called for the show to be AXED - eight years after hitting rock bottom on it. Malin, 32, said it's 'shocking' the ITV2 staple is still on-air and accused it of fuelling eating disorders and glorifying toxic relationships. Sign up for the Entertainment newsletter Sign up 4 Love Island star Malin Andersson has called for the show to be AXED Credit: Instagram She took to her Instagram Stories to share a powerful statement hours before the new series kicked off, nearly a decade after she appeared on it. Malin wrote: "Love Island. It starts tonight.. I'm quite shocked this show is still on air to be honest. "I was on it 8 years ago, and in that 8 years I've turned pain into purpose and used my platform for good. "Within the 8 years that have passed I've had to hit rockbottom to find a strength I never knew I had - and awaken to the truth of who we are. "However what young Malin didn't know was, how dangerous a show like this is - portraying toxicity as love, unrealistic body standards and women who maybe broken inside but wanting love for the wrong reasons - and thinking fame will save them.. and as for the men - similar things. "We need a show on how to show the world what it looks like to HEAL WITHIN & find love for ourselves first, then finding it in someone else. "We don't need a show making women especially feel bad about themselves - or fuelling eating disorders. That's outdated now. It's not it." Malin found fame on the second series of Love Island in 2016, spending 24 days in the villa where she was partnered with Terry Walsh. Though she's synonymous with the show, Malin has made it known before she isn't a fan. She previously told Bobby Norris on Fubar Radio: "I've not watched it. I haven't watched a single episode. I didn't even watch my own series. I ran my fingers through my hair and found another bald patch… I know what caused it to fall out, says Malin Andersson "From what I can see the format is the same and it's like the luggage belt at the airport arrivals and they're just spinning out the same characters. It's the same old bag every time. It sounds really bad.' She continued: 'I think Love Island has had its day a long time ago. And I think for the younger generation, there could be more put out there. I think all we're seeing now is a lot of dating shows.' Mum Malin recalled her obsession in the villa with viewers' perception of her appearance. She likened the experience to Jim Carrey's classic film, The Truman Show, in which his character is the central figure in a reality construct he has no idea about. 'I remember being in the villa and I kept asking the producers 'are there any bad comments about my weight?'" she said. "That's all I cared about. 'Are there any comments calling me fat?' That's all I remember asking them. "They would say no to everything. You're in the Truman show in there. It is literally like a bubble. No time, they tell you when to eat, when to sleep. It's such a different false reality." ITV has been contacted for comment. Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX. Since it launched, Britain Get Talking has resulted in over 100 million more meaningful conversations, and in 2022 ITV announced a further target of encouraging 200 million actions for better health by the end of 2023. Alongside Britain Get Talking, ITV has a mental wellbeing initiative aimed at a younger demographic in partnership with mental health charity Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM). Emmerdale pulled from TV schedules amid dead body story
If you're planning on tuning into Emmerdale tonight you're going to be in for a shock, as the ITV soap won't be airing this evening. As the summer nears ever closer, we are slowly getting to the point where sport takes over a lot of the schedule. This happened last week when the UEFA Women's Nations League aired instead of Emmerdale, and will be happening again this evening. Here's everything you need to know. Live International Football begins at 7pm on ITV later and finishes at 10:05pm, meaning there won't be a slot free for Emmerdale to air. The friendly match is a men's game, England vs Senegal. Thankfully, you don't have very long to wait, as Emmerdale will air tomorrow at 7:30pm, for half an hour. The Thursday episode will be broadcasted as normal for one hour, starting at 7:30pm, and then Friday at 7:30-8pm. We ended Monday's episode with John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth) forming a plan to try and get Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) off the hook. He is currently a prime suspect in Nate Robinson's (Jurell Carter) murder investigation, and John felt sorry for him when he said that he's desperate to grieve for his son. More Trending John will soon plant Nate's phone in Frankie's playhouse. The police will then search Tracy Shankley's (Amy Walsh) home, leaving them to grow suspicious of her, as they find the device in the garden. Elsewhere, Mandy Dingle (Lisa Riley) and Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt) realise Bear Wolf (Joshua Richards) has left Eve alone with his medication, Vinny Dingle (Bradley Johnson) forgets an important anniversary, and Pollard (Chris Chittell) has some important news.
