Eid Al Fitr 2025 is fast approaching, and countries around the world are confirming long weekends on the occasion of the upcoming holiday. For those here in the UAE, it's definitely set to be a four-day break, but could be five days. Other GCC residents will enjoy up to a nine-day break on the occasion of Eid Al Fitr.

The UAE's Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE) has already confirmed a paid holiday for Eid Al Fitr from Sunday 30 March to Tuesday 1 April. That means it will be a four-day weekend for those typically off Saturday and Sunday. However, it could still be a five-day weekend. If Ramadan is 30 days, Wednesday April 2 will also be a public holiday. But we'll need to wait until the sighting of the moon on Saturday March 29 for confirmation. Qatar
In Qatar the Eid holiday for public sectors has been declared from Sunday March 30 until Monday April 7, with work resuming on Tuesday April 8. This means 11 days off for government and public institutions, as per Khaleej Times . Oman
As per the Oman News Agency , public and private sector employees will get an official holiday from Saturday March 29, however the length of the holiday is still dependent on the sighting of the moon. If Eid falls on Sunday March 30, work will resume on Wednesday April 2. If the first day of Eid falls on Monday March 31 however, they will have the whole week off in Oman, with work resuming on Sunday April 6. This means a nine-day break when combined with the Friday-Saturday weekends either side. Saudi Arabia
Saudi Arabia has confirmed an extra-long Eid break for residents. The Eid Al Fitr holiday will begin on Sunday March 30, with work resuming on Thursday April 3. With a Friday-Saturday weekend, that means a relaxing six days off for residents. Then, it'll be just one day of work before the weekend again – or for those that take one day of annual leave – there's nine days off to be had. Kuwait
The Civil Service Commission (CSV) in Kuwait has confirmed that public sector employees will take an Eid holiday based on the first day of Eid. If the first day of Eid Al Fitr falls on Sunday March 30, the holiday will run until Tuesday April 1, with work resuming on Wednesday April 2. However, if the first day of Eid is Monday March 31, the official holiday will run from Sunday March 30 to Thursday April 3. If you're looking to make the most of the long weekend without hopping on a plane or going full tourist mode, Abu Dhabi's got plenty up its sleeve. This Eid Al Adha, the capital is dialling things up with a fun mix of concerts, cultural experiences, family brunches and special deals you just won't be able to say no to. It's going to be a mini getaway where the whole crew gets entertained. And yes, the little ones are well taken care of. Here's your guide to what's on, what to eat, where to go, and why it's all worth a try. Cultural experiences you cannot miss If you're after something meaningful this Eid, cultural activations are popping up across Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Al Dhafra. There are lots of foodie and cultural experiences, like the chance to feast on a traditional Emirati meal in a majlis setting at House of Artisans and get your henna done and more.
