The Los Angeles Dodgers lost the opening game of their NLCS rematch with the New York Mets in a thriller on Monday, rallying to tie the game in the ninth inning before falling in extras.

Despite the loss, it was a big day for Dodgers slugger Shohei Ohtani, who hit a moon-shot home run in the bottom of the seventh inning to bring the score to 2-1. The home run was Ohtani's 23rd of the season, moving him into a tie with Seattle Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh for the MLB lead.
As MLB.com reporter Sarah Langs noted after the shot, Ohtani also took a place in Dodgers history with the shot.
Ohtani beat out Dodgers legends Duke Snider and Gil Hodges for the most home runs through the first 60 games of the season,
The Dodgers celebrated the blast with a post on X, noting Ohtani's no-doubt-about-it reaction to the homer.

"Shohei knew," the team wrote in the caption.
Despite Ohtani's big game, the Dodgers couldn't hold off the NL East-leading Mets as they scored two runs in the 10th inning to break the tie. The Mets got a double from catcher Francisco Alvarez to score extra runner Luisangel Acuna, then got a single from Francisco Lindor to score Starling Marte.
The Dodgers got one run back in the 10th inning but couldn't plate the tying run, losing 4-3.

Philadelphia had won 11 of 12 games before the skid. Infielder/outfielder Otto Kemp's contract was purchased from Triple-A Lehigh Valley.
