If you are looking for a hidden, secluded beach this summer, head to South Carolina, a new study says.
Five South Carolina beaches rank in the top 10 of the top 20 hidden coastal spots throughout America, according to the study by BoatBooker, a website that books boating trips throughout the country. South Carolina's Vereen Memorial Park in Little River ranks No. 1, and the state's Driftwood Beach on Edisto Island is No. 2.
Other South Carolina beaches in the top 10 are Morris Island near Charleston, Station 22—Public Beach Access on Sullivan's Island and Edisto Beach State Park Campground on Edisto Island. Morris Island is uninhabited, and the island and its lighthouse are accessible only by boat.
BoatBooker found the best secluded beaches by using Google maps and the search terms "secluded beaches," "hidden beaches" and "quiet beaches." It focused on locations with fewer than 100 reviews, because they are more likely less visited and off the beaten path, BoatBooker says. Each beach was then ranked using a combined score based on its average rating and number of reviews.
Vacationers, though, should be forewarned: U.S. beaches are often crowded in summertime, particularly on weekends. This journalist noticed online comments saying that some of the beaches in the BoatBooker study, particularly some near major cities, were crowded when the commenters visited.

The study noted that 'there's nothing worse than planning the perfect beach getaway, only to find yourself elbow-to-elbow with crowds at America's most famous coastal destinations.' The most tranquil beach spots 'are not along the renowned resort communities but in state parks, nature reserves and little seashore towns.'
Nine California beaches are in the top 20, which, because of ties in the ratings, included 22 beaches. The state's highest-ranking beach is No. 5 Torrey Pines City Beach in San Diego's La Jolla neighborhood.
The beach. also known as Black's Beach, is famous among surfers for big winter swells, but it is better known as San Diego's nude beach, according to the San Diego Tourism Authority. The beach can be difficult to access because of its location beneath the Torrey Pines bluffs. 'Stately eight-figure mansions and state-of-the-art medical research labs now line the bluffs where pastures and the Black family horse farm once lay,' the tourism authority says.
Another nude beach, Gunnison Beach in Sandy Hook, New Jersey, ranks No. 3 in the BoatBooker study. The beach is in the National Park Service's Gateway National Recreation Area.
'A portion of Area G (South Gunnison) on Sandy Hook is used by visitors as a clothing optional area,' the park service's website says. 'While this area is not designated as clothing optional, there is no prohibition against this activity. The park acknowledges the popularity and history of the use and advises unfamiliar visitors of this activity through signs. Nudity, outside the traditional use area, may be considered disorderly conduct.'
The BoatBooker study ranks five North Carolina beaches in its top 20: Caswell, Ocean Isle, Carolina, Coquina and Cape Hatteras National Seashore. Alabama (Gulf Shores Beach) and Texas (Beach Access #4—Beach Circle on Soth Padre Island) are the other states with beaches on the top 20 list.
'2025 is all about escaping the noise and finding America's most peaceful, secret beaches,' says Vukan Simic, BoatBooker's founder. 'While everyone else is fighting for space at the famous beaches, savvy travelers can discover the authentic American coast that locals have cherished for generations."

The art of ‘beachcombing' finds room for our heart and soul to breathe
Ever been 'beachcombing'? You know, the art and practice of wandering somewhat slowly and aimlessly along an ocean shoreline? Going out no matter the weather, perhaps on a wide stretch of sand while dodging incoming waves or on a rocky shoreline while pausing and peering into tide pools large and small (always with an eye to the surf status!). Who knows what will catch your eye while 'combing' the beach? That's part of the intrigue—not knowing what you will see, or finding the unexpected. It used to be that colored glass balls from fishing nets, ranging in size from baseballs to basketballs, were the prize sought by beachcombers. But those seem to have gone the way of dial-up phones and other things now absent … except for plastics, found on beaches in increasingly distressing amounts. And while ocean pollution is a huge serious problem with significant evidence; it's the simple experience of wandering in a fashion meandering that I'm presently pondering. Beachcombing may provide the setting and means for musing, for pondering or thinking deeply. The slower pace and lack of purpose-driven intensity ('gotta get there!') allows your mind, heart, and soul room to breathe, to consider and wonder. With few rigid deadlines or demanding agendas, any outdoor space, wherever it is found during a casual stroll, encourages and facilitates priceless inner space where respite, renewal, and creativity can flourish. You are correct if surmising that 'beachcombing' can happen far from the ocean: alongside a river, in a park, or on a mountain meadow or trail. Even city sidewalks or country lanes can provide the setting for this relaxing, de-stressing endeavor. It's the combination of intention and attention that creates the right conditions for proper beachcombing. Intention to just stroll about (the journey more than the destination) coupled with attention to surroundings near and far (looking more closely at that interesting little thing and/or stepping back to appreciate the amazing big picture). Flotsam and jetsam washed up on the sand, sea anemones and sea stars clinging firmly to tidal pool rocks, birds soaring above with seals bobbing in the surf or lounging on shore, grasses and branches waving in the breeze, whales teasing avid spout-spotters—all this is available at the Coast (or the Sea or the Shore, depending on your oceanic context). So remember, beachcombing as an art and practice is not just for saltwater settings, it is available to you nearly anywhere a pleasant, observant perambulation is taken for a while. There will always be responsibilities, expectations, and demands on your time, energy, and attention—these important and deserving outlays are well and good (usually), and exhausting. To recharge, sufficient sleep is essential as are other forms of rest including holy days and holidays, vacations, and sabbaticals. And … amidst all this urgent activity are those blessed opportunities for you to disengage for a while, to unplug and go off-line, to allow a different rhythm to pace yourself, to even discover something new. Today, go beachcombing! 'O Lord, what a variety of things you have made! In wisdom you have made them all. The earth is full of your creatures. Here is the ocean, vast and wide, teeming with life of every kind, both great and small.' Psalm 104:24-25 (NLT) Timothy J. Taylor Swift, Travis Kelce have date night in NYC
The post Taylor Swift, Travis Kelce have date night in NYC appeared first on ClutchPoints. Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce take date night to the Big Apple. On Friday (June 20), Swift and Kelce were seen exiting hand in hand out of the Italian restaurant Torrisi in New York City. According to footage captured by fans who were leaving a restaurant nearby, Kelce shook the hand of one of the staff members of the restaurant and followed behind Swift. After a quick exchange between the pair, Kelce looks for Swift's hand and leads her into the black SUV that was waiting for them. The two looked pretty casual as Swift wore a striped pleated mini skirt with a blue corset tank and white heels. She opted to let her hair down in NYC's recent heat and wore her signature bright red lipstick. As for Kelce, he wore an all-white outfit that consisted of a U.S. soccer shirt, white shorts, and crisp white Air Force 1s. Over the past few weeks, Kelce and Swift have been seen outside more for their date nights. They recently attended Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final between the Florida Panthers and the Edmonton Oilers. The Panthers later ended up winning the series in back-to-back years. A date night to watch the Panthers makes sense for the couple as throughout their relationship, which began in 2023, they have been at several sporting events together such as the US Open and of course Swift has attended several Chiefs games cheering the tight end on. They also have been spending time in Florida as Kelce is in a minicamp for the upcoming NFL season and is renting a luxurious $20 million Boca Raton mansion during his stay there. In addition to dinner dates, Kelce recently opened up about how they also love staying in for a movie night at home. On last week's episode of the New Heights podcast which he cohosts with his brother Jason Kelce, Travis shared that he is 'down to watch' the 1990 classic romance comedy film Pretty Woman. The three-time Super Bowl champion revealed that the movie starring acting powerhouses Julia Roberts and Richard Gere 'has been on [his] and Tay's movie list for a while.' Swift has been making the most of her time in Florida and even recently visited a children's hospital. While she was putting a smile on the faces of patients and staff members, the singer even made a sweet nod to Travis in a video shared on X. 'My boyfriend is training here, so I just thought I'd come and see how you're doing,' Swift told a patient during her visit to the Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital in Hollywood, Florida. The upcoming NFL season will kick off in September with the Chief's first game will be in Sao Paulo, Brazil against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sept. 5. An insider revealed why Swift is so excited for this season. 'Not just because she loves supporting Travis, but because for the first full season since they started dating, she's not juggling a packed tour schedule,' the source told PEOPLE referring to Swift's record-breaking Eras Tour. 'This fall will be completely different,' the source continued. 'It's the first season where she's not constantly flying back and forth or working around an entire touring calendar.'
