Complete eradication of terrorism from J&K is our top priority: LG Sinha
The lieutenant governor Manoj Sinha on Monday said that complete eradication of Pak sponsored terrorism from Jammu and Kashmir was his top priority and that he has given a free hand to the Jammu and Kashmir Police and security forces to deal with the terrorists and terror eco-system within the union territory.
Addressing a passing out parade of 49 deputy superintendents of police (DSPs) and 1,112 probationers sub-inspectors (PSIs) at Sher-e-Kashmir Police Academy at Udhampur, Sinha said, 'Complete eradication of terrorism from the soil of J&K is our top priority. Our mighty warriors of J&K Police must adopt a multi-pronged approach and harness the power of intelligence, community engagement, technology, and inter-agency collaboration.'
Sinha asserted that the security forces must intensify targeted strike on the OGWs network and the elements providing logistical and financial support to the terrorists should be brought to justice. 'I have given a free hand to the Jammu and Kashmir Police and security forces to deal with the terrorists and terror eco-system within the UT. I want the mighty police force, the most powerful Indian Army and the valiant central armed police forces (CAPFs) to work together to wipe out the terrorists and their support system,' he added.
He also called upon J&K Police to utilise the modern technology like Artificial Intelligence to enhance its capability of data collection and analysis to counter security threats, prevent radicalisation and triumph over adverse situations.
At the same time, he, however, stressed upon beat policing and area policing. 'Despite remarkable changes in technology, there is no alternative to beat policing and area policing. Therefore, we have to bring beat policing to the centre of the security apparatus. We must strike a fine balance between technical intelligence and human intelligence to strengthen overall counter-terrorism efforts,' he said.
Our police personnel should also focus on fostering collective vigilance in the communities. This will not only enable the police force to ensure a coordinated response against terrorists but will also strengthen the trust with all sections of society, he said.
Director of Udhampur police academy Garib Dass also briefed about the programme and various activities conducted during the training course.

PDP chief urges MEA to ensure safety of students in Iran
Former J&K chief minister (CM) Mehbooba Mufti has sought Centre's intervention for safeguarding Kashmiri students studying in Iran, and J&K Students Association has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the same. Thousands of students from J&K are waiting for evacuation from different cities of Iran, with escalating tensions between Iran and Israel. Former J&K chief minister Mehbooba Mufti on Monday said that central government should ensure safety of students. 'Families of the stranded students in Iran are growing increasingly anxious with each passing day. I earnestly urge the ministry of external affairs to intervene and take immediate steps to ensure the safe return of their loved ones,' Mehbooba Mufti wrote on X. Prominent Shia leader and general secretary of Peoples Conference Imran Reza Ansari said that government of India is working on evacuation of Indian nationals and J&K students. 'Spoke to HE Ambassador of Republic of India in Iran Rudra Gaurav Shresth. He is personally monitoring the situation and is ensuring the safety of the Indian nationals and students from Jammu and Kashmir They are working on evacuation of the students in Tehran to a safer location for the time being. We have complete faith and trust in all the officials at the mission in Tehran,' he wrote on X. Meanwhile J&K Students Association in a letter to the PM has requested immediate intervention and evacuation of the Kashmiri students. The letter said that the dire situation is faced by hundreds of Kashmiri students currently studying in Iran, following the unprecedented escalation in hostilities between Iran and Israel. 'The recent Israeli preemptive airstrikes on Iran's nuclear infrastructure, followed by a barrage of retaliatory drone and missile attacks by Iran, have brought the region to the brink of a full-scale conflict. This volatile security environment has left thousands of Indian students, majority of them from Kashmir valley, extremely vulnerable and exposed to immediate danger. These students had travelled to Iran to pursue professional education, particularly MBBS, due to the country's economically viable academic infrastructure. Now, they find themselves in the middle of an active military zone, fearful for their lives,' reads the letter. The letter said that numerous students have contacted the Indian Embassy in Tehran seeking support, relocation, or evacuation. 'However, they have not received any reassuring response or concrete information about what the next steps will be. They remain in a state of confusion and despair, with no clarity about evacuation plans, safety protocols, or emergency assistance. We earnestly urge you to direct the external affairs minister Dr S Jaishankar to take urgent steps to relocate the students to safer areas within Iran and initiate immediate evacuation efforts. This will provide much-needed relief and assurance to the distressed families back home.'

Trump finally explains ‘evacuate Tehran' post; multiple explosions heard in Iran capital amid Israel tensions
President Donald Trump's 'evacuate Tehran' post on Truth Social caused panic as multiple explosions were heard in the Iranian capital on Monday, local media reports stated. A White House official soon clarified that Trump was not literally asking residents to evacuate Tehran. Trump wrote: 'IRAN CAN NOT HAVE A NUCLEAR WEAPON,' adding that Iran should have signed the 'deal' he told it to sign to prevent what he said was 'a shame, and waste of human life." 'Everyone should immediately evacuate Tehran!' he added. An official told CNN that Trump's post merely reflected the urgency of the need for Iran to come to the table as its tit-for-tat with Israel continues. Earlier in the day, Israel's military issued an evacuation warning affecting up to 330,000 people in a part of central Tehran that includes the country's state TV and police headquarters. On Monday, a video showed an Israeli fire striking an Iranian state-run television station during a live broadcast, forcing a reporter to run off camera. Iran fired a new wave of missiles at Israel that killed at least eight people. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the Israeli strikes have set Iran's nuclear program back a 'very, very long time.' Israeli military spokesperson Brig. Gen. Effie Defrin said his country's forces had "achieved full aerial superiority over Tehran's skies.' Residents in Tehran were asked to evacuate. 'They want to stop and continue producing the weapons of death, both the nuclear weapons that threaten our existence and the ballistic missiles, but we are committed to destroying these two threats. If that can be achieved in another way, please – but we gave it a chance for 60 days,' Netanyahu said. Trump will depart the G7 summit on Monday night, a day earlier than planned, due to the Israel-Iran conflict. 'President Trump had a great day at the G7, even signing a major trade deal with the United Kingdom and Prime Minister Keir Starmer,' White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt posted on X. 'Much was accomplished, but because of what's going on in the Middle East, President Trump will be leaving tonight after dinner with Heads of State.'
