Tejashwi Yadav's Fresh Voter List Charge: NDA MP, Husband Have 2 Votes Each

Patna:
Amid the buzz over voter lists and the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in Bihar, Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Tejashwi Yadav has alleged that an NDA MP and her MLC husband have two EPIC IDs. Veena Devi, from the Chirag Paswan-led Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), is the MP from Vaishali and her husband, Dinesh Singh, is a JDU member of the legislative council.
"She has two EPIC IDs -- UT01134543 and GSB1037894. She has two votes in two Lok Sabha constituencies in separate districts. Her age is different on two EPIC cards. She filled out two forms during SIR and must have signed twice. Were these two signatures made by her or the Election Commission? In the new draft list the Election Commission has released, how did she get two votes with two EPIC cards in two separate constituencies and separate ages?" Mr Yadav posted on X.

"Isn't this a fraud by the Election Commission to ensure a BJP-NDA victory? Will the Troll Commission fact-check this and issue notices?"
In another post, Mr Yadav flagged two EPIC IDs of Dinesh Singh, a JDU leader and member of Bihar's Legislative Council, and Veena Devi's husband.

"He has two votes in separate Lok Sabha constituencies. Did his proximity to the Chief Minister get him two votes? He is Vaishali MP Veena Devi's husband. She, too, has two votes. Is this not a fraud to ensure NDA's victory? Will the Election Commission admit to these errors?" Mr Yadav asked.
According to election rules, each voter in the country must have only one EPIC -- Electors Photo Identity Card.
Hitting back, Mr Sinha said that he has already requested the removal of his name from one constituency and accused Mr Yadav of levelling false allegations. The poll body thereafter issued a notice to Mr Sinha and sought an explanation on why his name was listed as a voter in two constituencies.
Mr Sinha insisted that he voted from only one place. "I vote from only one place. Last time, too, I voted from only one place. The prince of jungle-raj (Tejashwi Yadav) is simply trying to mislead people by giving wrong facts," he said.
The RJD leader has also flagged two voter IDs in the name of Muzaffarpur mayor and BJP leader Nirmala Devi. In this case, too, the Election Commission has served a notice to Nirmala Devi and sought an explanation.
Mr Yadav has been sharing details of NDA leaders with two voter IDs and has alleged that the poll body was helping them get two votes. The BJP has trashed these allegations.

GDMO candidates securing 14 out of 100 recommended for recruitment, state govt should rectify the situation: Ex-Tripura CM Manik Sarkar

Former Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar Sunday took potshots at the BJP-led government over the state public service panel recommending candidates with marks as low as 14 for the posts of general duty medical officers (GMDOs). 'We have come across media reports that the candidates who got 14 marks were recruited (as doctors). Those who have recruited them… it's their responsibility. If the general knowledge of the doctor is not good, then it may be a problem. It's good that attempts are being made to recruit doctors after a long time. But if they are taken irrespective of their quality… it might lead to a completely different result than expected. It may not be true in all cases, it may be true for only a few cases… but the government should take responsibility to rectify it,' Sarkar told reporters on the sidelines of a blood donation camp at Jirania in West Tripura. Three days ago, Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha had congratulated the newly-recommended GDMO candidates. 'Heartfelt congratulations to all the newly recommended GDMO candidates. Wishing you great success as you embark on this noble journey, serving humanity with dedication & compassion. Your commitment to healthcare will make a difference,' CM Saha wrote on his Facebook page, sharing a Tripura Public Service Commission (TPSC) notification for recruitment against GDMO posts. The notification, which cleared the recruitment of 216 medical officers in the grade IV of Tripura Health Services, also said that eight posts remained vacant since no one was found suitable to be recommended, along with nine posts reserved for 'persons with disabilities'. The notification soon landed in a controversy, especially among netizens who were found divided in their opinion about medical officers getting recruited with marks as less as 14 out of 100.

After SC Nudge, Names Of 65 Lakh Voters Struck Off In Bihar SIR Posted On District Websites

Last Updated: During a press conference, CEC Gyanesh Kumar said as directed by the Supreme Court, the list of deleted names has been posted on the websites of district magistrates Three days after the Supreme Court's directive, the Election Commission of India has uploaded on district websites the names of 65 lakh voters struck off Bihar's draft electoral rolls following the ongoing special intensive revision exercise. The Election Commission (EC) published the details of the 65 lakh voters on the website of the Bihar chief electoral officer (CEO). During a press conference earlier in the day, chief election commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar said as directed by the Supreme Court, the list has been posted on the websites of district magistrates. He claimed that this was done within 56 hours of the court's directive. During a hearing challenging the special intensive revision (SIR) exercise in poll-bound Bihar on August 14, the SC suggested that the EC should upload the enumerated list of all the people excluded from the draft voter list with the reason for their non-inclusion as this will help affected parties to take action. It also allowed excluded voters to challenge the deletion using Aadhaar card, saying it is statutory and recognised as a valid document for identity and residence even if it is not a proof of citizenship. On August 1, the reasons cited by the EC for non-inclusion of previously registered voters in the draft rolls included death (22.34 lakh), 'permanently shifted/absent" (36.28 lakh) and 'already enrolled (at more than one places)" (7.01 lakh). At the press conference, Kumar said the election system for parliament and assembly elections in India is a multi-layered, decentralised construct as envisaged by law. He said based on EC guidelines, electoral registration officers (ERO), who are SDM-level officers, prepare and finalise the electoral rolls (ER) with the help of booth level officers (BLO). These officers undertake the responsibility for the correctness of electoral rolls, he said. Kumar further said after the publication of the draft electoral rolls, their digital and physical copies are shared with all political parties and put on the EC website for anyone to see. Following the publication, a full one-month period is available with the electors and political parties for the filing of claims and objections before the final ER is published, he added.
