Championship midfielder added to Ireland squad for Luxembourg friendly

Bosun Lawal has been added to the Ireland squad for Tuesday's friendly in Luxembourg. The Stoke City man trained with the rest of Heimir Hallgrimsson's squad in Dublin today before the team flight.
Hallgrimsson has reported no fresh injury concerns ahead of the game, with Lawal bolstering the midfield options.
Lawal, 22, was dogged by a back injury this season and last, and made just seven appearances for Stoke in the Championship. But the former Bohemians, Celtic and Fleetwood Town man wants to finish the season on a high with a first senior cap.
Ireland assistant manager John O'Shea was asked about the former Ireland Under-21 international in the build-up to Friday's 1-1 draw with Senegal.
And he said at the time: 'It's been a frustrating one for Bosun. He trained with us last year and you were really hopeful that he'd have that game time with Stoke.
'It was frustrating for him with the (back) injury he picked up, but thankfully he was patient. If you try and rush back, he could suffer multiple injuries from it.
'It was frustrating not to get into the Stoke team in his ideal position either, but he played a few games towards the end of the season and was really impressive.'
O'Shea added: 'I think it's only a matter of time before he will kick on like we expect.'

Wrexham ‘offered Champions League stars' as Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney want Premier League football in TWO YEARS

WREX DO THIS Wrexham 'offered Champions League stars' as Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney want Premier League football in TWO YEARS WREXHAM have been offered the chance to sign a number of stars who played in the Champions League last season, according to reports. The Welsh club have enjoyed a stunning rise up the football pyramid to reach the Championship after three back-to-back promotions from the National League. 3 Wrexham have been offered the chance to sign Champions League players this summer Credit: Rex 3 It comes after their bid to land Christian Eriksen left the Dane impressed despite him rejecting them Credit: Getty Their ambitious owners - Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney - are determined to write their own Hollywood story into English football and are targeting Premier League football within the next two years. That ambition has led to the Dragons often signing players who are top draw for the division they are in, such as Paul Mullin - the poster boy of their rise - who is now at Wigan on loan. It is something which has already been displayed this summer, with the Racecourse Ground club welcoming Wales international Kieffer Moore yesterday following the arrival of England international Conor Coady. Those two deals have been financed from a war chest said to be bursting with £20million in it. The Dane turned down the deal in hopes of landing a top-flight move but was said to have been left impressed by the offer presented to him by Wrexham CEO Michael Williamson. Despite being knocked back by the midfielder, news of the bid quickly got around and saw Wrexham offered players who would have previously only been considered a dream. According to the Daily Mail, some of the stars offered to them by agents even played in the Champions League last season. BEST ONLINE CASINOS - TOP SITES IN THE UK Play Dream Team now! Manager Phil Parkinson had kept in touch with a number of Dutch agents, while the club itself had eyed players as far as Argentina and Australia while also looking on the European continent. Background checks for players were described as being done "ten to the dozen", prompting a degree of frustration as a so-called "Wrexham Tax" has reared its head. Christian Eriksen in shock transfer talks to join Ryan Reynolds' Wrexham after Man Utd exit Such was the intensity of work as they tried to get deals over the line that Parkinson and Williamson both recall ending a number of their days during the club's pre-season tour of Australia and New Zealand at 2 and 3am. At least nine new stars were targeted originally, with a vamped-up forward line top of the priority list. So far they have landed seven, with Lewis O'Brien, Liberato Cacace, Coady, Moore, George Thomason and Ryan Hardie all arriving for a combined £11.1m, while Josh Windass and Danny Ward have also been added on free transfers. Wrexham are now looking to add Ipswich winger Nathan Broadhead in a club record deal of £7.5m. There is also talk of signing highly-rated Ajax star Sivert Mannsverk to bolster the midfield in a deal which could cost around £4m. All of this has also come while the club's ground undergoes a makeover, which includes a £1.7m hybrid pitch with undersoil heating to future proof it for Fifa and Uefa requirements. A new Kop stand is also under construction and expected to be completed for the 2026/27 season which would take the stadium capacity up to 18,000, bigger than Bournemouth and Brentford. The ambition of the owners paired with significant backing has breathed life into a dream many did not consider possible in such a short time span. 3 TRANSFER NEWS LIVE - KEEP UP WITH ALL THE LATEST FROM A BUSY SUMMER WINDOW

Hannah Tyrrell enjoys adorable moment with daughter on stage at homecoming

Hannah Tyrrell enjoyed an adorable moment with her daughter on stage as the All-Ireland winning Dublin footballers were greeted by thousands on Tuesday's homecoming. The Dublin Footballers climbed to the summit once again as they cruised past Meath in Sunday's decider, with Tyrrell again playing a starring role. Turning 35 this Sunday and with a young daughter, Tyrrell has opted to wave goodbye to elite sport after a storied career in which she won an FAI Cup, a Six Nations, and two All-Ireland Football titles. Dublin's Hannah Tyrrell celebrates on stage with her daughter Aoife Hannah Tyrrell with her daughter on stage Tyrrell retires from elite sport just days before her 35th birthday Hannah Tyrrell with wife Sorcha and daughter Aoife after Sunday's final Tyrrell confirmed her retirement post-game, although finishing the Championship as top scorer shows she still would add value to the All-Ireland champions. Speaking after the game, she told Marty Morrissey, "How lucky am I? I've been lucky enough to be from Dublin, to get to play for Dublin, finish my career at Croke Park, and go out on a high. I'm privileged. "I'm privileged to be from this wonderful county and represent all these people. I'm looking forward to what's ahead." Tyrrell isn't the only one who will be stepping away from the panel with Nicole Owens also retiring. Owens has had her fair share of injuries in recent years and an All-Ireland victory while fully fit appears to be a good time to exit. Speaking to Jerome Quinn after the match she said: "That is me done. I made the decision, win or lose, because I knew that if we didn't get over the line, it would be a hard decision to make. I think the big thing for me today was just to come in and have fun. I did, I enjoyed the crowd. I enjoyed the first-half, not so much the second-half but the first-half I enjoyed." Attention will now turn to 35-year-old Sinead Goldrick who played a starring role at wing back for Dublin on Sunday, and if she will hang up the boots.

But supporters will not see their No17 in action at St Andrew's because he is not a registered player. It is instead the number surprisingly given to pop star and minority shareholder Ed Sheeran. The singer is an Ipswich superfan and he owns 1.4 per cent of the club. Sheeran, 34, has been given a kit number as part of a publicity stunt and he has had the shirt since the 2021/22 season.
