Egypt Voices Deep Concern Over Escalating Tensions in Iran
By Ahmad El-Assasy
Egypt has expressed deep concern over the recent developments in Iran, warning of the dangerous consequences of the escalating tensions on both regional and global stability.
In an official statement, the Egyptian government condemned the rapid escalation and reaffirmed its rejection of any violations of the United Nations Charter and international law. Cairo underscored the importance of upholding the sovereignty of all nations.
The Foreign Ministry cautioned that the Middle East risks sliding further into chaos and instability if the situation continues to deteriorate.
"Egypt reiterates that political solutions and diplomatic negotiations—not military action—are the only viable path to ending the crisis and achieving a lasting settlement," the statement read.
The Egyptian government also renewed its call for immediate de-escalation and the exercise of maximum restraint, emphasizing the urgent need to prioritize dialogue in order to protect civilian lives and preserve regional security.
This latest statement comes amid growing international concern over the implications of rising tensions between Iran and other regional players.

Iran threatens US bases in Middle East, asserts nuclear facilities undamaged
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) on Sunday condemned America's strikes against Iranian nuclear facilities in Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan. The Revolutionary Guard stated: 'We have identified the takeoff locations of the aircraft involved in the attack on our facilities, and those aircraft are now under our surveillance.' 'Washington committed an unprecedented crime in full coordination with Israel, launching an illegal military assault on peaceful nuclear facilities.' The IRGC continued: 'The Americans are violating the United Nations Charter and the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, and Iranian nuclear technology cannot be destroyed by any attack.' 'The proliferation of American bases in the region increases their vulnerability,' it warned. US strikes Iran The US has entered the conflict with Iran, with President Donald Trump announcing in the early hours of this Sunday morning that attacks had been carried out against three Iranian nuclear sites. 'We executed our highly successful attack on the three nuclear sites in Iran: Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan,' he announced, adding, 'All aircraft are now out of Iranian airspace.' 'A full payload of bombs was released on the primary site (Fordow), and all aircraft are safely en route home. Congratulations to our great American warriors; no other military in the world possesses such capability.' In Iran's initial reaction to the strikes, Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi stated via X (formerly Twitter): 'Iran reserves all options to defend itself following American attacks on its nuclear facilities.' He added that the US, as a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, 'Has committed a grave violation of the United Nations Charter, international law, and the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) by attacking peaceful nuclear facilities in Iran.' Araqchi concluded: 'In accordance with the United Nations Charter and its provisions allowing for legitimate response in self-defense, Iran reserves all options to defend its sovereignty, interests, and people.' Iran retaliates by attacking Israel In response to the US attack on its nuclear sites, Iran launched an intense assault of over 35 missiles targeting Israel early on Sunday morning. This resulted in the destruction of numerous buildings and extensive property damage. Rescue teams rushed to the affected sites to evacuate the injured, including settlers trapped under rubble. As the attack commenced, eyewitnesses from Tel Aviv reported a terrifying scene of widespread destruction. 'Everything is dismantled, the area is experiencing vast devastation,' one said.

Iran launches 35 missiles on Israel, causing widespread damage and injuries
In response to the US assault, Iran launched an intense assault of over 35 missiles targeting Israel early on Sunday morning. Extensive damage and casualties in latest attack Missiles struck areas in the settlement of Ness Ziona and Tel Aviv, while Israeli air defenses intercepted projectiles over Haifa. According to Yedioth Ahronoth, 23 injured individuals were transported to hospitals, with one in moderate condition and the rest suffering minor injuries. Videos and photos captured across Israel's interior documented the scale of the damage, showing demolished buildings and cars marred by shrapnel and soot. Israel strikes Hezbollah in south Lebanon Hours after the Iranian attack, the Israeli Air Force launched raids on Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon. Additionally, the Israeli army successfully intercepted two drones in Wadi Araba, which had been launched from Iran towards Israeli settlements. Following these incidents, Israel's forces raised its alert level on the northern border, anticipating any further escalation from Hezbollah in coordination with Iran. US backs ally with strikes American sources have confirmed that the US military conducted precision strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities in Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan, resulting in significant damage to parts of the infrastructure. US President Donald Trump announced the attack via his 'Truth Social' account, stating: 'We carried out a highly successful attack on Iranian nuclear sites; all aircraft have returned safely to their bases.' American media outlets confirmed that strikes directed at Iran utilized bunker-buster bombs to target the Fordow site, leading to the complete destruction of the facility. Iran has denied this, however, and stated that any damage did not extend beyond the ground surface.
