AIIMS Jammu JAMMU: The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) at Jammu achieved a landmark recognition in Government Medical Universities Ranking 2025, securing 7th position nationwide and emerging as the second-highest ranked institute after AIIMS Delhi, officials said. A handout issued late on Saturday evening stated that AIIMS, Jammu, scored an impressive 385.62 out of 400 in Academic and Research Excellence, underscoring the quality of its teaching, advanced curriculum, and the strength of its 130-plus research projects. 'It has emerged as the second-highest ranked institute after AIIMS, Delhi,' officials said. Expressing pride and gratitude on the achievement, Professor Shakti Kumar Gupta, executive director and CEO, credited this success to the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, whose mission to establish AIIMS in every state under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana has transformed India's healthcare landscape. AIIMS, Jammu, has grown from one MBBS batch of 50 students to now 100 students annually, and launched BSc in Nursing with 60 students, and introduced MD, MS, MDS, and MCh in paediatric surgery programmes, Dr Gupta said.

Ayush seminar to boost ayurveda‑based paediatric healthcare
New Delhi: Rashtriya Ayurveda Vidyapeeth (RAV), an autonomous organisation under the Ministry of Ayush, is set to organise its 30th National Seminar, that will serve as a dynamic platform for ayurveda experts to advance knowledge, innovation and collaborative paediatric healthcare research, an official statement said on Sunday. Slated for August 18-19 here, the seminar on the theme 'Management of Illness & Wellness in Paediatrics through Ayurveda will bring together renowned scholars, practitioners, researchers, and students to deliberate on traditional Ayurvedic approaches and contemporary evidence-based practices for promoting child health and wellness. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has time and again underlined the importance of traditional medicine in building a healthier society. He has said, "Ayush is not merely a system of medicine, it is a holistic approach to life. By integrating Ayurveda and other traditional practices with modern healthcare, we can ensure wellness for every section of society, especially our children who are the future of the nation.' Prataprao Ganpatrao Jadhav, Minister of State (Independent Charge), Ministry of Ayush, has always extended strong support for initiatives that promote holistic child healthcare through Ayurveda. "Ayurveda has always emphasised nurturing the health of children as the foundation of a healthy society. The upcoming National Seminar of RAV on paediatric care is a timely initiative to highlight Ayurveda's holistic approach towards both illness management and wellness promotion in children,' said Jadhav. 'I am confident that the deliberations tomorrow and the day after will enrich practitioners, researchers and students, and contribute to advancing paediatric healthcare through Ayurveda,' he added. According to Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary, Ministry of Ayush, the 30th National Seminar of Rashtriya Ayurveda Vidyapeeth is a valuable opportunity to bring together the Ayurveda fraternity on one platform. Over 25 crore Soil Health Cards distributed to farmers, Rs 1,706 crore released for scheme
New Delhi: More than 25 crore Soil Health Cards have been distributed to farmers (till July) to promote the balanced use of fertilisers and support better soil management across the country, according to the latest government data. By February 2025, a total of Rs 1,706.18 crore has been provided to states and Union Territories to support the Soil Health Card scheme. Further advancing its impact, the Soil and Land Use Survey of India has also carried out soil mapping on a large scale. Mapping has been completed at a 1:10,000 scale across nearly 290 lakh hectares, including land in 40 aspirational districts, the official data showed. To guide farmers in using fertilisers wisely, 1,987 village-level soil fertility maps have been created for 21 states and Union Territories. These maps help farmers make better choices for their soil and crops. The year 2015 was marked as the International Year of Soils. It was also when India launched its landmark Soil Health Card Scheme on February 19, aiming to assess the nutrient condition of every farm across the country. The scheme was officially launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Suratgarh, Rajasthan. It supports state governments in providing farmers with detailed reports on soil health. These cards offer recommendations on how to improve soil fertility and guide farmers to adopt sustainable practices. From the year 2022–23, the scheme has been included as a component under the Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana, and is now known as 'Soil Health and Fertility'. A Soil Health Card is a printed report given to farmers for each of their land holdings. It shows the condition of the soil by testing 12 key parameters, namely Nitrogen, Phosphorus, Potassium, Sulphur (Macro-nutrients); Zinc, Iron, Copper, Manganese, Boron (Micro - nutrients); and pH (Acidity or Basicity), EC (Electrical Conductivity) and OC (Organic Carbon). The scheme helps farmers understand what their soil needs through regular testing and provides guidance every 2 years. Each card gives farmers a clear picture of the nutrient status of their land. It also suggests the right amount of fertilisers, bio-fertilisers, organic inputs, and soil treatments to help them take better care of their soil over time.
