Denzel Washington didn't let a brief red carpet incident overshadow a night of celebration at the 78th Cannes Film Festival on May 19 in France.
The 70-year-old actor was attending the premiere of his latest film, Highest 2 Lowest, alongside director Spike Lee and co-star A$AP Rocky. During a red carpet interaction, a photographer appeared to grab Denzel's arm while trying to get his attention. In response, Denzel firmly told him, 'Stop it, stop it,' and pulled his arm away before rejoining his cast members. Videos of the heated argument went viral online.
Despite the tense moment, Denzel's representative confirmed to E! News that the situation didn't impact his evening. 'It was a great evening,' the rep told the publication on May 20.
Inside the theater, Denzel was honored for his iconic career and his role in the film, which marks his first collaboration with Spike Lee in 20 years. The actor was visibly emotional as Lee presented him with a surprise honorary Palme d'Or.
'This is a total surprise for me, so I'm emotional,' Denzel said in his acceptance speech. 'It's a great opportunity to collaborate with my brother once again, brother from another mother, and to be here once again in Cannes.'
He added, 'We're a very privileged group in this room that we get to make movies and wear tuxedos and nice clothes and dress up and get paid for it as well. I'm blessed beyond measure. From the bottom of my heart, I thank you all.'
Highest 2 Lowest also stars A$AP Rocky along with Jeffrey Wright as Paul Christopher, Wendell Pierce as Gabe, Ice Spice as Marisol Cepeda, and Ilfenesh Hadera as Pam King. The film follows the original plot of Akira Kurosawa's High and Low, with some slight tweaks.
It will hit theatres in the United States on August 22. On Apple TV+, the film will start streaming from September 5.

Adhyayan Suman on facing rejections and setbacks despite being a star kid: 'No one has ever handed me anything...'

Adhyayan Suman has opened up about the struggles he faced in the film industry, revealing that rejections and setbacks were a constant part of his journey despite being a star kid. In a recent interview with IANS, the actor-singer admitted that his lineage did not shield him from the harsh realities of Bollywood. Addressing the long-debated topic of nepotism, Adhyayan Suman reflected on how the assumption that star kids are guaranteed success is far from reality. In his own journey, he's endured rejections, setbacks, and moments where he was written off entirely. The actor shared, "Yes, I come from a film family, but the truth is, no one has ever handed me anything on a silver platter. My father and mother have supported me emotionally, but every audition, every meeting, every opportunity-I've had to fight for it. People think being a star kid guarantees success, but that's not true. I've faced rejections, setbacks, and been written off many times. What matters is resilience, and I've never stopped believing in myself. " Suman further acknowledged that the film and music industries have traditionally been male-dominated, especially when it comes to representation and equal opportunities. However, he believes that change is slowly but steadily taking place, thanks to filmmakers who are committed to telling more balanced stories. He specifically praised Sanjay Leela Bhansali for his progressive approach to female characters. "It's true that the industry has had gender imbalances-especially in terms of pay and opportunities. But change is happening. Filmmakers like Bhansali sir are pioneers. They don't just cast women in lead roles-they give them depth, dignity, and powerful arcs. That's the kind of storytelling we need more of, and I'm proud to be a part of such narratives." Speaking of his upcoming project, Adhyayan revealed, "I have 4 films and 6 songs this year." Adhyayan Suman is the son of veteran actor Shekhar Suman and producer Alka Suman. He made his acting debut in 2008 with "Haal-e-dil." Following that, he appeared in his second film, "Raaz - The Mystery Continues." Check out our list of the latest Hindi , English , Tamil , Telugu , Malayalam , and Kannada movies . Miley Cyrus shares what led to Billy Ray Cyrus rift

Miley Cyrus broke her silence about what caused her to become estranged from dad Billy Ray Cyrus as they continue on their road to "healing" their family rift. Weeks after she and Billy Ray Cyrus reunited and shared messages about "healing" following more than a year of family rift rumours, the "Flowers" singer confirmed they were no longer estranged and shed insight into what led to her conflict with him in the first place: her parents' split, according to E! News. "I think timing is everything," said Miley in an interview. "As I've gotten older, I'm respecting my parents as individuals instead of as parents--because my mom's really loved my dad for her whole life, and I think being married to someone in the music industry and not being a part of it is obviously really hard," as per the outlet. Cyrus, whose mom Tish Cyrus filed for divorce from Billy Ray in 2022 after nearly 30 years of marriage--continued, "And so I think I took on some of my mom's hurt as my own because it hurt her more than it hurt me as an adult, and so I owned a lot of her pain," as per the outlet. Tish's marriage to her current husband, Dominic Purcell, and Billy Ray's romance with Elizabeth Hurley revealed on social media eight months after he finalised his divorce from Firerose helped Miley work through her feelings and move forward on the road to healing. Live Events "Now that my mom is so in love with my stepdad, who I completely adore, and now that my dad, I see him finding happiness, too--I can love them both as individuals instead of as a parental pairing," the "More to Lose" singer said. "I'm being an adult about it." However, changing her mindset was not easy. "At first it's hard, because the little kid in you reacts before the adult in you can go, 'Yes, that's your dad, but that's just another person that deserves to be in his bliss and to be happy,'" Miley said. "My child self has caught up," according to E! News. She commented weeks after her dad shared a rare family pic showing the two. "My dad and I have had our challenges over the year," the former star of Hannah Montana wrote on her Instagram Stories. "Now, in my thirties, family is my priority above all else. I'm at peace knowing bridges have been built and time has done a lot of healing. Grateful for the good health and love that flows through my family." Billy Ray shared his statement about mending their rift one day later, on Mother's Day. "I'm so proud of Miley and her guts and her courage... her wisdom and strength to bring it when our family needed it most," the "Achy Breaky Heart" singer wrote on Instagram May 11. "We are so close to a full healing." The 63-year-old continued, "We have all been through a lot. On this Mother's Day I would like to testify to a couple facts. 1) I still very much believe in the power of prayer and respectfully ask if you do also ... and have an extra prayer for the CYRUS Family... I humbly would accept," according to E! News.
