This brief video clip not only gives us our first look at what AMG has planned for its new, all-electric platform, but our first listen . Seriously. There's admittedly not much to see on this still-camouflaged prototype (and if it's pure CGI, it's a convincing effort), but its basic form is recognizable. The teaser itself openly acknowledges that this is on the company's new electric architecture, which would narrow it down to one of the two models expected to ride on AMG.EA—a sedan and an SUV. We can pretty safely rule out the latter here. We also believe this new platform will take advantage of Benz's latest powertrain tech, including more compact batteries and axial flux motors.
As for the sound? Hmm. Where to start…
The 'engine' note itself is perfectly pleasant, but there's more going on here than just noise—there are audible 'shifts' being simulated here. Sure, there are EVs out there with multi-speed gearboxes, but even those function more like old-school overdrive features than the many-geared automatics found in modern gasoline cars and trucks. What we're seeing here is more akin to what you'll find in the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N, where it's included as a driver engagement feature—and a surprisingly fun one, at that.
But there's still one lingering question: is this going to be an 'exhaust' sound, or merely something piped into the cabin. The clicks audible with each shift sound an awful lot like paddle shifters to us, and why would you need to hear that from the outside? Given the mixed reception to EVs making uncharacteristic noises, Mercedes could be taking a conservative approach. While this would be at the precise opposite end of the spectrum from Tesla's Boombox and the inevitable Terrance & Phillip sideshow that followed, it may simply be too much fakery to woo whatever sliver of the car buying public an EV would appeal to if it simply sounded like it had a V8.
In any event, we shouldn't have to wait too long to find out. This is meaty as teasers go, so we expect an official unveiling in the not-too-distant future.

Shares of GPC have fallen 4.1% over the past three months, lagging behind the Nasdaq Composite's ($NASX) 11.7% uptick during the same time frame. Moreover, in the longer term, GPC has declined 14.7% over the past 52 weeks, underperforming NASX's 9.4% rise over the same time frame. Nonetheless, on a YTD basis, shares of GPC are up 1.8%, outpacing NASX's 1.2% return. To confirm its bearish trend, GPC has been trading below its 200-day moving average over the past year, with minor fluctuations, and has recently started trading below its 50-day moving average. On Apr. 22, shares of GPC surged 2.8% after its Q1 earnings release. The company reported a revenue of $5.9 billion, up 1.4% year-over-year, driven by contributions from acquisitions, though partially offset by a decline in comparable sales. The top-line figure marginally surpassed the consensus estimates. Moreover, while its adjusted EPS of $1.75 fell 21.2% from the year-ago quarter, it came in 5.4% above the analyst estimates. Despite the tariffs and trade dynamics, GPC delivered a better-than-expected performance, which might have impressed the investors. e4life Devices Take Stage at Japan Health in Osaka from 25th to 27th June
Can electromagnetic waves neutralize respiratory viruses? Now they can! The answer is yes: on the stage of the Japan Health fair, from 25th to 27th June, e4life, the Italian company active in the biodefense industry, will be among the leading players presenting its innovative devices which use electromagnetic waves to render harmless respiratory viruses present in the air (transported via bioaerosol). This solution is a world first, with efficacy of over 90% and an almost instantaneous sanitizing action. Since it is 100% harmless to humans and animals, it does not require the evacuation of spaces and environments. This Italian patent does not use chemical agents or filter materials, and is based on the transmission of microwaves which, at a specific combination of frequency and power, act on the balance between the internal positive charges of the virus and the negative charges present in the capsid or outer shell, giving rise to a "resonance" phenomenon that destroys the external envelope of the virus and effectively inhibits its power to spread and to infect. One of the most interesting features of this new technology is the possibility of having a targeted action, allowing it to be calibrated on specific pathogens changing the resonance frequence. There are currently three products available using this technology, two for humans and one for animals. e4life personal is the portable, lightweight, compact version (100 grams x 8.5 cm) which is SAR certified. It is comfortable and safe to wear and is able to inactivate viruses by generating a "bubble" with a diameter of about three metres. Then there is e4life ambient which is the "fixed" version to be installed either on ceiling or walls with a range of action covering about 50 square metres. Lastly there is e4life FARM, the device dedicated to livestock farms and designed to combat animal viral diseases (actually Avian Flu and Swine Flu) which represent a threat to chicken, turkey and pigs. Further confirmation of the value and importance of the results achieved by e4life are the numerous examples of recognition it has now received. In actual fact this technology has been subjected to scientific tests and has been validated by the Celio Military Hospital, the independent ViroStatics Institute and two studies published in the Viruses and the European Society of Medicine journals (Source: The technology has also been the subject of a test campaign carried out at Milan University's Department of Biomedical and Clinical Sciences. The results confirm those already obtained from previous test campaigns, i.e. a replicable efficacy of close to 90%. The Bio-Medico Campus at the University of Rome has instead collaborated in working on the control and efficacy of this technology. Furthermore, the JRC–HERA technological prospective study by the European Commission Joint Research Centre includes this technology among those which are currently available that can guarantee an increase in air quality in indoor environments. The already considerable number of validations has been expanded to include certification obtained from the University of Genoa, which has tested the technology's efficacy of over 90% on influenza and Covid viruses. A final further "seal of guarantee" comes from an article in the scientific journal Nature Scientific Reports, which describes a study demonstrating the effectiveness of electromagnetic waves in inactivating the avian flu virus. Moreover, the inactivation systems for respiratory viruses using electromagnetic waves have been included in the UNI/PdR 173-1 Reference Practices for Indoor Sanitization, a document drafted by UNI — the Italian Standardization Body — in collaboration with the National Institute of Health (Istituto Superiore di Sanità). The Design That Will Change BMW's Future
BMW's upcoming Neue Klasse lineup manages to be both completely new and utterly distinctive at the same time. The cars look characteristically "BMW" while also carrying a cyberpunk-like, futuristic aesthetic. They're polarizing designs to be sure, but one can't argue that they look like nothing else currently on the road. Whether that's a good or bad thing is entirely subjective. The upcoming BMW i3, or Vision Neue Klasse, is nothing like the small, Aston Martin Cygnet-like hatchback it replaced, to say the least. The concept sedan that BMW has been showing off highlights bold, sharp lines, without a single curve in sight. The front end has a slight, shark-nose tilt to it, reminiscent of the BMWs of the 1970s, such as the 2002. The distinct kidney grille now lights up and is integrated with the slim, angled LED headlights. Out back, the taillights nearly span the length of the trunk lid but are split in the middle by a small panel with the BMW logo. These design elements seem to have persisted based on the test mule we've spied driving around. We haven't seen much of the interior, but the concept shots featured little more than an infotainment screen in the middle of the dashboard and a skyroof spanning the headliner. We can only hope that the screen situation will change for the production version, although we're fans of the skyroof. The upcoming BMW X5 Neue Klasse, or Neue Klasse X, carries most of the i3's design elements but supersizes them in SUV form. The front and rear are largely the same, although the front further embodies the BMWs of the 1970s with a thin, vertical kidney grille. The upcoming X5 also sports a few aerodynamic elements, like large openings in both bumpers, side skirts, and a small spoiler above the rear hatch. The cabin is also largely the same, right down to the skyroof, although the X5 concept images carry a more playful white and orange color scheme that reminds me of some 1960s automotive designs. From what we can gather in the spy shots above, most of these design elements will make it into production. BMW's upcoming lineup is certainly polarizing, but unapologetically new. With sharp lines, modern technology, and futuristic aesthetics, BMW is really looking to shake things up when these models are set to hit the scene in 2026. What will be interesting is not just seeing how its domestic competitors, such as Mercedes-Benz and Audi, respond, but also how international competitors from Asia and the U.S. will respond. Looking at BMW's concepts and comparing them to other offerings from makes like Hyundai and Kia, one thing is certain: we are entering a new (or Neue) era of automotive design.
