Strong qualifying puts us in hunt to savour 24 Hours of Le Mans delight, insists Charlie Eastwood
Although they still have some work to do, particularly in respect of extracting extra speed from their TF Sport-run machine around the 8.467-mile Circuit de la Sarthe, the trio are in the ballpark in the build-up to the biggest motorsport meeting on the calendar.
In Thursday's two-stage Hyperpole session, Eastwood successfully advanced out of the 12-car field with the second-fastest time, recording a 3:54.646 lap, which was followed by Andrade's career-best GT time at Le Mans – a 3:55.740 effort – on his final circuit to stay in sixth spot.
From there, the yellow and black car has a decent chance of climbing up through the field during the opening exchanges of the race, which is due to get under way at 3pm BST.
Starting ahead of them is the pole-sitting Heart of Racing Team Aston Martin Vantage, the No.21 factory AF Corse Ferrari 296 and the No.46 Team WRT BMW M4 GT3 Evo thanks to a superb lap by the former MotoGP race winner and title holder Valentino Rossi.
A strong result would also help reignite Eastwood's FIA World Endurance Championship campaign as Le Mans offers two sets of points scoring opportunities across the 24 hours.
'Clearly, the top couple of cars are super-fast, but we have not been the sixth-fastest car since we've been here all week. I think all three of us did a really good job,' reflected Eastwood, who triumphed in his class in 2020 when he was part of the Aston Martin Racing family.
'We are not the fastest, but we are definitely not the slowest – we are in the mix for sure and I feel that we can definitely fight from sixth on the grid come race day.
'The Corvette and the team have been super-faultless.
'We have been tuning the car more and more to a good place.
'As we have in the last couple of races, we have executed really well up to now. We just need to make sure we continue to execute this weekend as well.'

Marquez banking on Ducati for first Austrian GP win
Aug 14 (Reuters) - Marc Marquez has never won the Austrian Grand Prix, having bean beaten by a red Ducati to the chequered flag on three occasions, but the Spaniard believes this year could be different. Although Marquez won multiple world titles with Honda, he finished second at the Red Bull Ring three years in a row from 2017-2019, twice behind Andrea Dovizioso and once behind Jorge Lorenzo -- both of whom rode for Ducati at the time. Marquez has not finished on the podium in Austria since 2019 but as he arrives from the summer break with a 120-point lead over his brother Alex in the championship, the Ducati rider is seeking his ninth win of the season. "It was super close for many years here in Austria. I always lose against red bikes, with the amazing Dovizioso and amazing Lorenzo. But now I'm riding that red bike! So let's see if we can fight for the victory," Marquez told reporters on Thursday. "Of course, starting the second part of the season with a 120-point advantage, the only one that can lose the championship is you. "I will need to control myself in some races because you cannot be the fastest out there in every session, every practice and every race." Although Marquez has the strongest bike on the grid, so does his teammate Francesco Bagnaia who is unbeaten in Austria since 2022. "He won the last three years here, so I believe he will be fast," Marquez said. "He brakes super hard and it's one of the circuits why he won a lot, because the brake point is super important." Bagnaia, however, has struggled with the braking on the GP25 bike and sits third in the standings -- 168 points behind Marquez -- with one win all season. The twice MotoGP champion spent the break watching races from seasons past to understand why he has struggled this year. "I'm looking forward to finding back my speed and fighting for wins because I rewatched many races from last year and the previous year, seeing how competitive I was in the fight, following others, overtaking, braking super hard," he said. "And watching this season, I was a completely different Pecco - nothing comparable. So I want to change this thing and be similar to last year."

Ketel Marte's late homer propels Diamondbacks to series win over Rangers
August 13 - Ketel Marte ripped a two-out, three-run home run in the ninth inning, and the Arizona Diamondbacks rallied to stun the Texas Rangers 6-4 on Wednesday in the finale of a three-game series in Arlington, Texas. Marte's home run off Phil Maton (2-4) was his fourth hit of the game and drove in Blaze Alexander (who was hit by a pitch) and Geraldo Perdomo, who had walked. James McCann began the rally with a two-out solo home run as the Diamondbacks scored four runs with two outs in the final frame to capture their second straight series. It was Marte's second game-winning homer in as many nights. He homered in the ninth on Tuesday as well to lift Arizona to a 3-2 comeback win. John Curtiss (2-0) pitched the eighth for the Diamondbacks and Andrew Saalfrank retired all three batters he faced in the ninth to earn his first career save. Texas dropped the final two games of this set and finished its nine-game homestand with just three victories. Jake Burger had a two-run home run among his two hits while Evan Carter also had two of the Rangers' seven hits. Texas jumped to the lead in its first at bat when Carter, who was activated from the 10-day injured list just prior to the game, singled home Josh Smith after he opened the frame with a single. The Diamondbacks answered in the third with a two-out rally as Perdomo walked and stole second base before Marte drove him in with a single to left field that tied the game at 1-1. Carter was also a huge part of the Rangers' next uprising, beginning the fourth with a double and then trotting home in front of Burger after the latter smashed his two-run homer. Arizona trimmed its deficit to 3-2 in the fifth on a Perdomo solo home run to right center field. The Diamondbacks pushed to tie the game in the inning as Marte and Corbin Carroll singled, but Marte was thrown out at home on Adrian Del Castillo's single to right to end the inning. After that, the Diamondbacks did not have a hit and had just one baserunner until McCann homered with two outs in the ninth to cut the Texas lead to one run. Pete Alonso, Mets aim to take series from Braves
August 13 - Pete Alonso made New York Mets history on Tuesday night when he became the franchise's all-time home run leader. In the process, he might have helped the Mets snap out of an extended tailspin. The Mets will look to earn their first series win in more than two weeks on Wednesday when they host the Atlanta Braves in the middle contest of a three-game set. Left-hander David Peterson (7-5, 2.98 ERA) is slated to start for the Mets against Braves right-hander Carlos Carrasco (2-2, 6.18). Alonso homered twice on his milestone night Tuesday, helping the Mets earn a 13-5 win over the Braves. Alonso's first homer, which was the 253rd of his career and broke a tie atop the all-time New York list with Darryl Strawberry, sparked a much-needed offensive outburst by the Mets. New York ended a seven-game losing streak while improving to 2-8 this month and 19-31 since June 13. The 13 runs were the most for the Mets since June 8, when they also beat the Colorado Rockies 13-5. New York also tied a season-high Tuesday with six homers. Francisco Alvarez went deep twice while Brandon Nimmo and Brett Baty each hit a round-tripper. The Mets' top four batters -- Francisco Lindor, Juan Soto, Nimmo and Alonso -- finished a combined 7-for-18.
