'I tried cheapest full English in Benidorm and I was left stunned by what I was presented'
A British man was 'amazed' after trying the 'cheapest' full English breakfast available in Benidorm for less than £4. The Spanish municipality, based in the province of Alicante, is a firm favourite holiday destination for many British residents and Louis Grier is no exception.
In fact, the 32-year-old has made the sunny seaside hotspot his home. Recently, Louis was impressed after spotting the iconic full English breakfast on offer for the low price of £3.90. He regularly updates his 43.2K TikTok followers on his life in Benidorm, sharing his experiences and tips for those looking to holiday or move there for themselves.
In a recent video, which has so far pulled in more than 58K views, Louis ventured to Mariano's, a popular and well known restaurant in Benidorm, where he was keen to try the venue's take on the legendary full English breakfast.
Kicking the video off, he spoke directly to the camera and explained: 'Today, I am going to Mariano's to see what the English breakfast is like there.
'I've had the Spanish breakfast - it's not bad, it is a Spanish restaurant, after all - but I'm going to try the full English breakfast.
'They've got an offer on for €4.50 (£3.90). Mariano's is great for many things but I've never really had breakfast here, so let's try it.'
Unfortunately, the meal didn't live up to Louis's expectations. He showed his plate to the camera, revealing two pieces of Spanish toast with two fried eggs on top, one sausage, two mushrooms, a tomato, a hash brown and two rashers of bacon.
After tucking in, he explained he 'wasn't expecting much for €4.50' but declared the 'breakfast was absolutely awful', branding it one of 'the worst' he's 'ever had' in Benidorm.
He elaborated: 'I visited Mariano's, a renowned restaurant in Benidorm.
'It is celebrated for its exceptional chicken, considered by many to be the finest in Spain, and is also highly regarded as the best take away in Benidorm.
'Considering its popularity among both English and Spanish speakers, this establishment has consistently provided excellent food to British patrons for numerous years, and I have thoroughly enjoyed many wonderful takeaway meals.
'However, I regret to say that the breakfast was quite unappetising, and I was unable to eat it – it was that bad.'
Adding a little more detail as to why the breakfast was so poor in his opinion, he added: 'It tasted undercooked and of very low quality.
'I would maybe go back but only for its famous chicken.'
Louis's video racked up hundreds of comments, with people keen to share their thoughts.
One person said: 'That's all I've tried there. It's terrible, so I've never been back. The place is a dump.'
Another person said: 'Looked ok for the price', while a third agreed with this sentiment and said: 'What was wrong with it, everything looked fine, that's not a fair review'.
Someone else commented: 'Mariano's has gone right down hill to what it used to be'.
And another person said: 'I once had one from there, it was terrible', but someone else added: 'Still the best place for chicken. And their garlic bread is to die for!'
