The Thursday Murder Club release date, cast, trailer and more as Netflix film gets update
The Thursday Murder Club, a thrilling new film based on Richard Osman's 2020 novel, is set to hit cinemas and Netflix soon, with the creator himself, who is married to Ingrid Oliver, providing fans with an exciting update.
The film, which features a star-studded cast, follows a group of elderly amateur detectives as they try to crack a murder case.
Filming kicked off in 2024, with none other than Steven Spielberg serving as producer, and Osman has been keeping his followers informed about the latest happenings. Taking to Instagram, he reassured fans that the film would be available both in cinemas and on Netflix, addressing concerns that some might not be able to watch it.
He announced: "Some very good news for everyone who wanted to see #TheThursdayMurderClub in UK cinemas. Netflix have listened to the clamour, and the film will now have a run in UK cinemas."

The Thursday Murder Club is set to premiere in UK cinemas on August 22.
It will then be available for streaming on Netflix from August 28, with a runtime of nearly two hours.
Who are the stars of The Thursday Murder Club?
The main four characters, Elizabeth Best, Ron Ritchie, Ibrahim Arif and Joyce Meadowcroft, will be played by Helen Mirren, Pierce Brosnan, Ben Kingsley and Celia Imrie.
Osman recently addressed the contentious casting of Ron, telling Empire: "You have to do something unusual and different and interesting.
"Here's the key thing about Pierce Brosnan playing Ron: Pierce Brosnan is who Ron would choose to play Ron."
Doctor Who legend David Tennant has also been signed up as Ian Ventham, alongside Jonathan Pryce who plays Elizabeth's other half Stephen.
Naomi Ackie is set to portray PC Donna De Freitas, whilst Daniel Mays takes on DCI Chris Hudson and Henry Lloyd-Hughes stars as Bogdan.
Additional big names joining the production include Richard E. Grant, Tom Ellis, Geoff Bell, Paul Freeman, Sarah Niles and Ingrid Oliver.

Fans noted that she claimed he'd already died back in season one. Producers did explain the issue, insisting the father mentioned in season one was her stepfather but fans weren't satisfied with the response. Parker shared a series of iconic Carrie moments and said the columnist with the wardrobe worth millions 'dominated my professional heartbeat for 27 years. I think I have loved her most of all.' Davis, who starred as Charlotte for 27 years, wrote: 'I am profoundly sad. I love our whole beautiful cast and crew. 400 artisans working so hard on our show with deep love. Wrestling star Hulk Hogan, who died aged 71 this month, was 'devastated' by the negative reaction from the crowd during his final WWE appearance Wrestling legend Hulk Hogan was 'devastated' by the boos he heard from the audience during his final WWE appearance before his death aged 71. The star was found "experiencing a serious medical-related issue" in a house on Eldorado Avenue in Florida and was taken to Morton Plant Hospital in the morning of July 24. He died at 11.17am in the hospital, and there were "no signs of foul play or suspicious activity", Major Nate Burnside said in a statement. It was recently reported that the wrestler died from acute myocardial infarction, commonly known as a heart attack, per the Pinellas County Forensic Science Centre. The star, real name Terry Bollea, was said to be poorly in the weeks leading up to his death, but his reps were forced to deny speculations about his health. It comes after Sharon Osbourne broke down in tears at Ozzy's funeral in heartbreaking scenes. Meanwhile, six months before he died, Hogan took to the stage at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California, for a guest appearance in Netflix's WWE series Raw. His longtime pal and manager, Jimmy Hart, recently said Hogan was shocked by the negative reaction he received from the audience and claimed it "bothered him". Speaking on the Stories With Brisco and Bradshaw podcast, Jimmy explained: "We go out and we had a mixed reaction. You can have 500 people cheering you and one person booing you, but I'll be darned if that one person doesn't outshine [the people cheering]. "It's a mixed reaction, but it's a little bit more boos than anything. That devastated him." The manager suggested the boos were due to the wrestler's support for controversial US President Donald Trump. Hogan previously appeared at the Republican National Convention to back the convicted felon's return to the White House. Jimmy added: "We got in the back and he said: 'What do you think happened?' I said: 'Hulk, it's simple, blue state, red state. Boom'. "But that bothered him because of that ... Then the next week we're in Texas, and it's all cheers, you know, but that always bothered him. It sure did." During the appearance, he was heard telling the unimpressed crowd: "In the past, I've had a whole bunch of partners down the line. I had incredible partners, like the Macho Man Randy Savage. I've had giant-sized partners like Andre the Giant. "But the greatest partner the WWE has ever had is the fact that tonight, we're making history, and the WWE has tag teamed up with Netflix, the greatest tag team partner of all time." Hogan's death last week was confirmed by the WWE, who posted a statement on X saying: 'WWE is saddened to learn WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan has passed away. One of pop culture's most recognisable figures, Hogan helped WWE achieve global recognition in the 1980s. WWE extends its condolences to Hogan's family, friends, and fans." Hogan headlined the first Wrestlemania in 1985 and faced The Rock, aka Dwayne Johnson, during the event in 2002. His last WWE match was against Randy Orton at SummerSlam in 2006.
