Nagpur: An ambitious project to alleviate traffic woes at the busy Medical Square is being contemplated by Union minister

. The Nagpur MP on Thursday said he is ideating upon a project to build an elevated rotary road to help ease the traffic flow.
In a brief statement about it, Gadkari said, "At Ashok Chowk, we are planning to construct a signal-less square, like a roundabout rotary. Another thing I have in mind is, Medical Square. To build an elevated road (rotary) there." The Union minister clarified that these are in the conceptualization stage.
Regarding the Liberty Square flyover, Gadkari said that the design is faulty, but it will be rectified. "I have already prepared a proposal for Rs34 crore and it has been sent for clearance.
A new design has been readied for it," said Gadkari, while addressing the media on Thursday. The flyover has three landings, one at Katol Road, one at Mankapur and one between LIC Square and RBI Square. It's the landing at the latter section which is being redesigned, and it's likely that another landing might connect on the road going towards LIC Square.
At this point Gadkari even called his official from the sidelines and enquired about the status of that file.
After speaking with the official, Gadkari said "Work will start soon and the problem will be solved.
Giving an update on other flyovers of the city, Gadkari first spoke about the Kadbi Chowk flyover going towards Mominpura. "All permissions have been taken and the issue (for delay) is due to encroachment at Mominpura. We have given the work to MahaRail and this will benefit everyone because directly from Mominpura you can connect to Kamptee Road."
About the Pachpaoli flyover, Gadkari said, "For the flyover from Kamal Talkies, we are using the latest technology from Malayasia for construction. At Kamal Chowk, we will build a huge market where all vendors will get space."
He added that a lot of flyovers have been built or approved for Nagpur, which will ultimately provide succour for traffic movement. In East Nagpur, which has got many flyover projects, Gadkari joked that there is now no space remaining. "MLA Krishna Khopde has got so many projects approved that no space is left vacant. I told him that only a 2m wide lane remains in one of the localities, and maybe we should construct one flyover here too," said Gadkari.

Elevated corridor planned to free up traffic in Sonia Vihar in northeast Delhi
New Delhi: Public Works Department has initiated the process for constructing an elevated corridor spanning 5.5km along Sonia Vihar Pusta Road in northeast Delhi. The department has issued a tender for its feasibility study. Currently, the irrigation and flood control department owns this stretch. The tender seeks a consultant to conduct a comprehensive study for the corridor, which will extend from Nanaksar Gurudwara T-Point to the Delhi-Uttar Pradesh border at Tronica City. Officials have noted that the route handles substantial vehicular movement throughout the day, leading to significant traffic congestion during both peak and non-peak hours and causing inconvenience to both residents and commuters. Building an elevated road is likely to alleviate the congestion problem. The corridor will also improve connectivity between Delhi and the UP border, said a senior official. PWD minister Parvesh Verma conducted a site inspection in April and announced the project. The estimated cost is Rs 500 crore. The central verge's existing space will make it possible to construct an elevated road without significant obstacles, said officials. The right-of-the-way assessment will span six kilometre. The Nanaksar T-junction marks the starting point, where six approach roads connect to Pusta Road via a service road. "There are trees present on both sides of Pusta Road, and there is a Delhi Jal Board pipeline passing underneath. All of this will be part of the feasibility study," the tender stated. The Sonia Vihar treatment plant, operated by DJB, is situated near the proposed alignment. "Widening of Pusta Road on the city side is not feasible because of space constraints. So, an elevated road will be built," the official said. This would bring relief to residents as the demand for an elevated road was long pending. Pillars will be erected on both sides of the road to leave the traffic at the ground level unaffected, he added. The construction of this elevated road will resolve congestion at several bottleneck points. Officials said PWD had been instructed to expedite all necessary procedures to start the work at the earliest. The PWD minister earlier said, "The people of Sonia Vihar have been struggling with severe traffic congestion, making this project essential. However, due to the large number of trees in the area, we have now decided to build an elevated flyover instead." Verma mentioned that he received a request from local MLA Kapil Mishra, following which the project was discussed with chief minister Rekha Gupta and received approval. Shah in Lucknow today to give job letters to cops in UP's biggest-ever hiring drive
Lucknow: In a first, Union Home Minister Amit Shah will give appointment letters to newly recruited constables of the UP Police in a grand ceremony in the state capital on Sunday. As many as 60,244 cops were recruited by UP Police, marking the completion of the largest single police recruitment drive ever undertaken by any state police in the country. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took stock of preparations at Sector 18 of Lucknow's Vrindavan Yojana on Saturday. According to senior officers posted at the DGP headquarters, the top 50 candidates will be handed over their appointment letters by Shah. All 60k-plus candidates have been invited to the event. State DGP Rajeev Krishna, who reached the spot to review preparations, told TOI that the event will witness participation from ministers, MLAs, senior bureaucrats, and media representatives. "Recruits from all 75 districts of the state will gather for the large-scale programme. Two-month annual fishing ban along Andhra coast lifts today
Visakhapatnam: The two-month annual fishing ban for conservation period for marine species along the Andhra Pradesh coast will be lifted on June 14 midnight. About 50% of 2,500 mechanised boats and 70% of 4,000 motorised boats in parts of the state are ready to resume deep sea fishing from June 15. The fisherfolk and owners of fishing boats are hoping for a good catch of shrimp for the first voyage in the new fishing season. Major fishing harbours—Visakhapatnam and Kakinada in the state, are bustling with activity as fishermen prepare for the new fishing season. The annual two-month fishing ban was intended to conserve marine species along the east coast. After the ban is lifted, fishermen will be free to resume sailing from June 15. Several fishermen were seen busy loading ice, diesel and essential commodities in the fishing boats for the new fishing season.
