The second edition of Art, Fashion, and Cultural Diplomacy (AFCD), led by its founder and patron and hosted in partnership with Aljasra Cultural Club Doha, once again shone a spotlight on hidden gems within the diplomatic community. The captivating exhibition featured over 100 inspiring artworks, including pieces by 15 spouses, four daughters of ambassadors, and Ambassador Erika of Austria, highlighting the richness of cultural diversity.
The event also embraced heritage by showcasing Qatar's UNESCO-recognized Intangible Cultural Traditions, making it a unique celebration of cross-cultural dialogue.
Throughout the evening, guests were treated to a beautiful blend of art, music, and heritage. Musical performances by couple artists Natalia and Radu added a magical atmosphere to the gathering, enriching the experience for all.
Through its unique mix of artistic expression and cultural exchange, AFCD reaffirmed its role as a pivotal platform for nurturing connections across nations. It celebrated the richness of shared heritage and offered a rare glimpse into the creative talents that often remain hidden within the diplomatic circle — a reminder of the unifying power of culture and the arts.

Ashraf Siddiqui Doha A flavourfulcultural celebration is set to take place in Doha this August as Thai Restaurant Week 2025: A Thai Culinary Journey in Qatar kicks off on 21 August 2025. Organised by the Royal Thai Embassy in Doha, this 10-day initiative will bring together 13 curated Thai restaurants across the city to showcase Thailand's rich culinary heritage and celebrate the strong cultural ties between Thailand and Qatar. Throughout the event that concludes on August 31, participating restaurants will offer specially crafted set menus at fixed price tiers—QR39, QR59, and QR89—featuring signature Thai dishes that embody the bold, diverse, and harmonious flavours for which Thailand is renowned. The celebration will begin with a Grand Opening Reception on August 21, 2025, to be held from 14:00 to 17:00 hrs at Isaan Restaurant, Grand Hyatt Doha Hotel. Hosted by the Royal Thai Embassy, the reception will feature culinary showcases from all participating restaurants, along with traditional Thai cultural performances, offering guests an immersive experience of Thai culture and cuisine. In addition to the dining promotions, a social media campaign will encourage the public to share their experiences using the hashtag #ThaiWeekQatar. Participants will have the chance to win exclusive prizes, including dining vouchers and a possible round-trip ticket to Thailand (subject to confirmation). The campaign seeks to deepen cultural appreciation while positioning Thailand as a premier culinary and travel destination. Colours of diplomacy: A watercolour workshop celebrating Qatar-Argentina cultural ties
Ashraf Siddiqui In celebration of the Year of Culture Qatar-Argentina 2025, Art, Fashion and Cultural Diplomacy (AFCD), in collaboration with the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova, organized a vibrant and inspiring Doodling Watercolour Workshop in Doha. The event was a creative tribute to the ongoing cultural exchange and friendship between Qatar and Argentina. The workshop brought together a distinguished group of participants, primarily spouses and daughters of ambassadors residing in Qatar. The attendees were warmly welcomed by HE Iulian Grigorita, Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to the State of Qatar. He was joined by Farhan Al Sheikh Al Sayed, Founder and Patron of AFCD, and Ms. Rodica Grigorita, Secretary General of AFCD, and spouse of Moldovan envoy to Qatar, both of whom emphasized the importance of cultural diplomacy in strengthening international ties through artistic collaboration. The session was conducted by Natalia Curmanova, a Moldova-born artist and certified art educator currently based in Qatar. With extensive experience in the field of fine arts education, Curmanova specializes in a variety of techniques and mediums, teaching both children and adults across diverse age groups. Her approach to art instruction combines professional technique with a nurturing, inclusive environment, making the workshop both educational and enjoyable. Participants were introduced to creative watercolor techniques and doodling styles in a relaxed and friendly setting. The hands-on activities allowed attendees to engage with the art form in a personal way, fostering creativity while also building cultural appreciation. Through the lens of artistic expression, the event offered a deeper understanding of Argentine culture and its artistic heritage. The workshop was graced by the presence of several young participants, including Daniela, daughter of the Ambassador of El Salvador; Aiia and Karima, daughters of the Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan; and Awa, daughter of the Ambassador of Gambia. Their involvement added a youthful energy and cross-cultural charm to the event. The Doodling Watercolour Workshop not only celebrated the artistic spirit but also reinforced the significance of cultural diplomacy as a bridge between nations. Qatar Museums celebrates 20th anniversary & 50 years of NMoQ
Tribune News Network DOHA Qatar Museums (QM) has participated in the 47th Session of the World Heritage Committee at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, where it celebrated its 20th anniversary and the 50th anniversary of the National Museum of Qatar (NMoQ). Under the theme of 'More than Museums', QM hosted a special event and reception marking the two major anniversaries, where participants reflected on Qatar's longstanding commitment to fostering cultural diplomacy and dialogue, and the nation's forward-looking commitment to transforming museums into dynamic platforms for creativity, education, heritage and innovation. 'These momentous anniversaries are a testament to the vision of HE Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, Chairperson of Qatar Museums, and the path for national development laid out by Father Amir and the Amir HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani,' said Mohammed Saad Al Rumaihi, CEO of Qatar Museums. 'For more than half a century, our nation has been committed to culture as a catalyst for dialogue, bridging the gaps between people and cultivating local and regional talent to present on the world's stages. As we mark the 20th anniversary of Qatar Museums, we are continuing a creative journey in which culture is not only preserved but lived, shared, and continually reimagined.' The gathering in Paris brought together cultural leaders, diplomats, and international stakeholders, including HE Dr Nasser Al Hinzab, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Qatar to UNESCO. A series of keynote speeches and presentations, including remarks by Mohammed Saad Al-Rumaihi charting the growth and development of QM and the National Museum of Qatar, paid tribute to the continued transformation of Qatar's cultural landscape and QM's pivotal role in shaping it. HE Dr Nasser Al Hinzab said: 'Celebrating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the National Museum of Qatar during the 47th session of the World Heritage Committee in 2025 reflects the State of Qatar's efforts to promote its national heritage and place it on the global map of culture and development through UNESCO's cultural conventions and programs. These efforts continue in coordination with Qatar Museums to support the Sustainable Development Goals related to heritage and to empower the local community to safeguard Qatar's cultural and natural heritage.' 'We are immensely proud to see the National Museum of Qatar recognised as part of UNESCO's anniversaries list, which stands as an acknowledgment of its meaningful contribution to the global cultural, heritage, and museum landscape,' said Dr Fatema Hassan Al Sulaiti, Director of International Cooperation & Government Affairs at Qatar Museums and Qatar's National Expert to UNESCO. Founded in 1975 as the Qatar National Museum, the first national museum in the Gulf, the National Museum of Qatar is dedicated to expressing and preserving Qatar's national identity, history, and heritage. Its striking building, designed by renowned architect Jean Nouvel, and cutting-edge galleries immerse visitors in Qatar's ongoing national story, bringing it to life for both the Qatari people and visitors from around the globe. 'The National Museum of Qatar has grown into a space where tradition meets innovation and where the voices of our people, past and present, can be heard and celebrated,' said Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Hamad Al Thani, Director of the National Museum of Qatar. The museum's cultural significance was underscored this year with its inclusion in the UNESCO Anniversaries Programme and its addition to the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List—a major step towards achieving full recognition.
