Thai embassy to host culinary week from August 21

A flavourfulcultural celebration is set to take place in Doha this August as Thai Restaurant Week 2025: A Thai Culinary Journey in Qatar kicks off on 21 August 2025. Organised by the Royal Thai Embassy in Doha, this 10-day initiative will bring together 13 curated Thai restaurants across the city to showcase Thailand's rich culinary heritage and celebrate the strong cultural ties between Thailand and Qatar.
Throughout the event that concludes on August 31, participating restaurants will offer specially crafted set menus at fixed price tiers—QR39, QR59, and QR89—featuring signature Thai dishes that embody the bold, diverse, and harmonious flavours for which Thailand is renowned.
The celebration will begin with a Grand Opening Reception on August 21, 2025, to be held from 14:00 to 17:00 hrs at Isaan Restaurant, Grand Hyatt Doha Hotel.
Hosted by the Royal Thai Embassy, the reception will feature culinary showcases from all participating restaurants, along with traditional Thai cultural performances, offering guests an immersive experience of Thai culture and cuisine.
In addition to the dining promotions, a social media campaign will encourage the public to share their experiences using the hashtag #ThaiWeekQatar.
Participants will have the chance to win exclusive prizes, including dining vouchers and a possible round-trip ticket to Thailand (subject to confirmation).
The campaign seeks to deepen cultural appreciation while positioning Thailand as a premier culinary and travel destination.

Colours of diplomacy: A watercolour workshop celebrating Qatar-Argentina cultural ties
Ashraf Siddiqui In celebration of the Year of Culture Qatar-Argentina 2025, Art, Fashion and Cultural Diplomacy (AFCD), in collaboration with the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova, organized a vibrant and inspiring Doodling Watercolour Workshop in Doha. The event was a creative tribute to the ongoing cultural exchange and friendship between Qatar and Argentina. The workshop brought together a distinguished group of participants, primarily spouses and daughters of ambassadors residing in Qatar. The attendees were warmly welcomed by HE Iulian Grigorita, Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to the State of Qatar. He was joined by Farhan Al Sheikh Al Sayed, Founder and Patron of AFCD, and Ms. Rodica Grigorita, Secretary General of AFCD, and spouse of Moldovan envoy to Qatar, both of whom emphasized the importance of cultural diplomacy in strengthening international ties through artistic collaboration. The session was conducted by Natalia Curmanova, a Moldova-born artist and certified art educator currently based in Qatar. With extensive experience in the field of fine arts education, Curmanova specializes in a variety of techniques and mediums, teaching both children and adults across diverse age groups. Her approach to art instruction combines professional technique with a nurturing, inclusive environment, making the workshop both educational and enjoyable. Participants were introduced to creative watercolor techniques and doodling styles in a relaxed and friendly setting. The hands-on activities allowed attendees to engage with the art form in a personal way, fostering creativity while also building cultural appreciation. Through the lens of artistic expression, the event offered a deeper understanding of Argentine culture and its artistic heritage. The workshop was graced by the presence of several young participants, including Daniela, daughter of the Ambassador of El Salvador; Aiia and Karima, daughters of the Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan; and Awa, daughter of the Ambassador of Gambia. Turkish envoy hosts family dinner for journalists
Ashraf Siddiqui Demonstrating a distinctive approach to public diplomacy and hospitality, HE Dr Mustafa Goksu, Ambassador of the Republic of Turkiye to the State of Qatar, recently hosted a special dinner for journalists covering diplomatic affairs, along with their family members at the prestigious Turkish Sazeli Restaurant in The Pearl-Qatar. What is often a formal, professional engagement was transformed into a warm, family-friendly gathering that brought together Turkish Embassy officials and members of the local press community in a relaxed, personal atmosphere. The initiative underscored the embassy's commitment to cultivating genuine, people-to-people ties that go beyond official interactions. The Pearl-Qatar, a prestigious state of the art, modern residential island city development near Doha, provided a fitting backdrop for the event. Its sophisticated setting mirrored the spirit of the evening, which aimed to deepen mutual understanding and promote cultural connections between Turkiye and Qatar. In his address to the guests, Ambassador Dr Mustafa Goksu expressed heartfelt appreciation for the journalists and their families who accepted the invitation. He emphasised the importance of building sincere, family-level relationships within the host country, noting that the embassy's gesture was not merely a diplomatic formality but came from the heart. 'We are brothers and sisters, living in the same country, so we need to know each other — and that includes getting to know your family members,' Dr Goksu said. 'If there is anything we can do for them, we are ready.' Acknowledging the demands of diplomatic responsibilities, the ambassador explained that while he wished to organise such gatherings more frequently, official commitments and regional dynamics sometimes made scheduling difficult. He expressed gratitude that everyone was able to come together that evening, and shared his hope to host similar events in the future. 'God willing, we will continue to have such gatherings at Turkish restaurants,' he said. 'The real challenge is work and time, but if there are any shortcomings, please forgive us.' Dr Goksu also extended special thanks to journalist Ashraf Siddiqui for helping coordinate the event and ensuring strong participation, praising his efforts in making the evening memorable. Earlier, Siddiqui spoke on behalf of the attending media professionals and their families, thanking the Turkish ambassador for his thoughtful and unique invitation.
