An Air India flight from Bali to Delhi was diverted to Varanasi's Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport due to bad weather in the national capital, an official said on Wednesday.The flight later departed for Delhi the same night after the stop at Varanasi on Tuesday.Puneet Gupta, Director of Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport, Varanasi, said the Air India flight AI 2146 had to be diverted as poor weather conditions over Delhi severely reduced visibility, making it unsafe for the aircraft to land."The flight, carrying 187 passengers, safely landed at Varanasi airport," Gupta said, adding that "all necessary passenger amenities were ensured during the delay.The plane was cleared for take-off and flown back to Delhi later in the night.A separate Delhi-Bali flight was diverted back to the national capital on Wednesday due to a volcanic eruption near Bali airport.The flight safely landed back in Delhi and all passengers have disembarked, Air India said in a statement."Air India flight AI2145 on June 18 from Delhi to Bali was advised to air return to Delhi due to reports of volcanic eruption near destination airport Bali, in the interest of safety," it said.On Tuesday, AI 2146 was scheduled for departure from the Denpasar International Airport in Bali, Indonesia at 10.30 am (local time) and was to land at the Indira Gandhi International Airport around 2.30 pm.According to flight tracking website FlightRadar24, the Airbus A321 plane landed in Varanasi instead of Delhi around 3.50 pm. The flight was near the Delhi-UP border when it was diverted to Varanasi, it showed.Air India has faced successive cancellations and diversions since a London-bound flight operated by it crashed in Ahmedabad shortly after take-off on June 12. Over 270 people, including those onboard the plane and on the ground, died in the crash.On Tuesday, Air India cancelled seven international flights, taking the total number of cancellations by the airlines since the Ahmedabad crash to over 80.Flight operations at the Delhi airport faced several disruptions on Tuesday, with 14 diverted flights -- six to Bhopal, three to Chandigarh, two to Amritsar, one each to Ahmedabad, Varanasi and Lucknow.Over 400 flights were delayed and some flights were cancelled at the airport on Tuesday, as per data from Flightradar24.In a post on X, Air India said that due to inclement weather conditions in Delhi, "our flight operations are getting impacted with some diversions".

Despite strong Q4 earnings for many, geopolitical tensions and the Air India tragedy have negatively impacted tourism sector sentiment in 2025. Hotel stocks have faced declines, though Valor Estate has been a notable exception with significant revenue growth. Experts remain positive on the long-term prospects of the Indian tourism industry, citing growing disposable incomes and the return of corporate travel. Tired of too many ads? The profit after tax (PAT) fell 13% YoY in the quarter under review while the topline plunged nearly 3%.The Nifty India tourism index, a collection of 14 stocks and a representative of the overall tourism sector has declined 3% in 2025. Only two stocks have managed to report positive returns -- one is Valor and the other is Interglobe Aviation . The stock of Indigo airline operator has outperformed Nifty with 18% returns versus 5% by the situation for travel and tourism has been pretty much the same despite impressive Q4 earnings International, for instance, saw a stellar 70% jump in PAT and 55% rise in sales but slumped over 23% YTD. The company reported a sharp drop of 80% in its Q4 PAT though the revenue increased 34% contrast, Interglobe Aviation (IndiGo) shares were driven by strong earnings momentum. The PAT was up 26% while revenue surged 62%.Market expert, Kranthi Bathini , who is Director-Equity Strategy at WealthMills Securities said that he remains positive about the long term prospects of the Indian tourism industry, notwithstanding the recent setbacks and concerns around global economy and factors have impacted the investor sentiments around hotel and travel stocks and this could continue in the medium-to-short term. With growing disposal incomes and return of corporate travel, the outlook remains positive, Bathini has a buy view on Lemon Tree Hotels shares with a marginal downward revision in the target price at Rs 166. It noted that the Bengaluru, Mumbai and Delhi markets clocked the highest RevPAR (Revenue Per Available Room) improvement among other micro markets on a YoY basis in Q4. "Across LTs, key brands, Aurika/Lemon Tree Premier/Lemon Tree/Red Fox/Keys reported a YoY RevPAR growth of 25%/11%/8%/20%/24%," the brokerage noted. JM Financial has a buy view in Juniper Hotels, a smallcap stock with a market capitalization of Rs 7,081.14 crore. The stock has a 29% upside for a price target of Rs recommends a buy on SAMHI Hotels and IHCL for an upside of 20%. He has a long term view on both Bangalore, which operates the Leela brand, was listed on June 2. The stock is currently trading below its issue price of Rs 435. Many top brokerages like Anand Rathi remain positive on the counter for a long term period.
