ghd's Helios Hair Dryer worth £179 is on sale - dries my hair in minutes

Daily Mirror24-06-2025
The ghd Helios Hair Dryer is one of the best hair styling tools I've ever used, and it is currently on sale
Last Christmas, Father Christmas (aka my fiancé) bought me a ghd Helios Hair Dryer, and the salon-grade styling tool has a special place in my heart. Currently, potential buyers can snap up the device on sale, as part of ghd's summer bonanza.
The Helios Hair Dryer is on offer for £139, knocked down from £179. It's not very often that shoppers can find sales on the brand's best-sellers, so this one is worth shouting about - at least in my book.
Thanks to its powerful airflow, the hair dryer blasts my long hair in minutes without causing heat damage. I have a limited-edition Christmassy green colour, which isn't available anymore, but the sale includes lots of hues such as black, white, plum, blue ink, and icy blue.
Ghd describes this hair styling tool as a 'game-changing innovation'. For me, it really has been game-changing in reducing frizz, plus it doesn't dry out my ends even though I have it on the highest heat setting.
Other premium options include the iconic Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer, which is up for grabs at Currys for £279.99, usually £329.99. It has three speed settings and an anti-flyaway tool.
For budget-friendly good performers, look to Boots, where the Mark Hill Style Addict Perfect Blow Dry Kit is on sale for £34.99. It comes packed with a host of accessories, like a blow-dry brush, clips and rollers.
Back to my Helios Hair Dryer, it makes hairwash days slightly more enjoyable, and so much quicker. It comes with two settings that control the strength of the airflow.
The buttons aren't labelled or numbered, but option one provides a medium gust, and option two delivers full force - being impatient, I usually opt for the latter. There are also two heat options - again, not labelled or numbered - but one is hot and the other is really hot.
I can fully dry my hair in approximately 10 minutes but for me, a major downside is that it is a heavy tool, especially for those who like doing a bouncy blowdry. Lifting my arms above my head with this device is like a mini workout and it took me months to get used to the weight of it.
Speaking of blow drys, this is where the nozzle attachment comes into its own. The funnel-like attachment helps concentrate the airflow. I section off my hair and use an Olivia Garden blow-dry thermal brush, which helps to define the ends.
Ghd asserts that the hairdryer features a 'bespoke acoustic system to ensure low sound levels'. However, I don't think this technology makes much of a difference, as the hairdryer is rather loud.
The hairdryer sports a sleek design, with chrome accents at the base of the handle and at the back. It comes with its own pouch, making it handy for storage and travel.
Another disadvantage is the lack of a diffuser attachment included. This must be purchased separately - not ideal given the price of the tool. You can buy one here for £29.99.

Parents praise Kickers 'comfy from the off' school shoe range lasting kids 'years'

Kickers has launched its Back to School campaign providing shoppers with a great opportunity to save on footwear While the school summer holidays are still going strong, parents might be considering setting aside some funds to purchase clothes and shoes for the new academic year in September. This can often be a financially stressful period for families, so the sooner these purchases are sorted, the better. Kickers, a brand renowned for its quality school shoes, is offering a fantastic deal on essentials ahead of the new term. The brand has kicked off its back-to-school campaign, Back with a Kick, which offers a 10% discount on first orders and free delivery for those who spend over £60. Haircare brand ghd launch four new tools that make curls 'last all day' Debenhams slashes £55 off 'exceptional' 2-in-1 fan shoppers call 'best purchase' Back with a Kick is being hailed as the brand's most impressive collection yet, boasting styles to suit every pupil. The range is designed to help children stand out for all the right reasons, ensuring they feel confident from their first day back in the playground. Within the collection, customers can select from a variety of shoes including the Kickers Youth Tovni Lacer Leather shoes in Black, priced at £58 - or £52.20 after the 10% discount - which offer a blend of sporty and smart. Available in sizes 3 to 6 for children, these shoes feature a low profile and sleek flat sole, reports the Mirror. Moreover, the shoes are durable, practical, and overflowing with style. They're also crafted from durable, high-quality matte leather and finished with flat cotton laces. Another choice is the Junior Girls Kick T-Bar Meadow in Patent Leather Black for £52.20 reduced from £58, a glossy patent leather shoe featuring floral buckles and a T-Bar design. Alternatively, customers can purchase the Junior Girls Adlar MJ Scallop Leather Black shoe for the same price, which is available in sizes 1 to 13 and draws inspiration from the Mary Jane style. This shoe boasts delicate scalloped detailing, is made from premium leather and the design is hard-wearing and comfortable to wear. If this specific range doesn't appeal to everyone, customers could also consider the McKenzie Parkin Junior for £35 from JDSports which is available in various sizes and is made from synthetic leather. The footwear also includes lace fastenings and a padded collar for comfort. Beneath, they rest on a cushioned midsole and feature a grippy rubber sole. An alternative choice is the M&S Collection Kids' Leather Riptape School Shoes for between £36-£38, which are offered in sizes 2 and a half to 9. The Kickers range, nevertheless, has received excellent reviews on their website as one customer commented: "I have bought 3 pairs of Tovni shoes for my granddaughters and they've loved them. They've been hard wearing and lasted the school tough test well." Another remarked: "We always buy Kickers for both my boys for school. Long lasting, comfy from the off and just a great all rounder shoe for boys with a cool but smart trainer style look. Top notch, would recommend." However, not all customers were satisfied, with one sharing: "Too small. Width was very narrow." "This is our second pair. The first pair lasted two years. Good quality and nice style," praised another shopper. Nonetheless, the Kickers' Back with a Kick campaign, offering 10% off and free delivery, seems like an excellent option for parents seeking durable, high-quality shoes for the Back to School season.

WITH summer in full swing, we're all looking for those perfect holiday looks - from beach waves to a flawless blow-dry that lasts all night. But getting that salon-perfect hair doesn't have to mean spending a fortune. 2 While the high-end brands have dominated the market, leaving us with serious gadget envy, Aldi has launched a new product that proves you can get the hair of your dreams without breaking the bank. The supermarket has joined the hot air brush craze with a rock-bottom £12.99 option, and it's a total game-changer. The hot air brush is part of their Specialbuy range and can be used on both wet and dry hair. It's no surprise that the tool is making waves, with the hashtag #hotairbrush racking up over 42 million views on TikTok as everyone tries to achieve that professional blow-dry look at home.
